We were very pleased with the service we received from Alex Coates of Humberts whilst selling our house through them. If you are planning on selling your house and want a professional sevice from start to finish, I strongly suggest you use Humberts of Honiton. Better still, even if you have no immediate plans to sell, get in touch with Alex Coates and get to know him now, because when you do decide to sell, the whole process is far less stressful. That's what we did and and as the relationship was already established, any challenges that arose were dealt with in a much easier way thanks to Alex.

Primarily chose Humberts since they suggested an asking price higher than other agents and also offered a low commission rate, but Alistair also gave a very reasoned appraisal of the best way to market the property. Preparations for the sale were completed quickly and a buyer was secured on the day the property was listed. There were a few complications with the sale, but Alistair did all he could to ensure the best outcome for us as his clients. Communication via email and phone was also prompt and succinct. All this took a lot of the stress out of the selling experience.

We would recommend Humberts without hesitation having been impressed by their professionalism and positivity in selling our house. Alex was the initial contact who gave us the confidence to go with Humberts, valued our home, started the marketing process and carried out some of the viewings. I recently sold my house through Humberts. Alex Coates dealt with the sale of my house personally. It was a great comfort to me having the assistance and expertise of Alex Coates dealing with selling my property in Devon whilst I was living in Norway, which was quite a task. Alex went out of his way to make this sale as smooth as possible, from dealing with purchasers, my solicitors, surveyors and also any minor issues which turned up. Making sure that any queries I had were immediately delt with, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Alex is very understanding, polite and extremely efficient. We have recently bought and sold with the help of Humberts.
We hadn't really planned to move but unexpectedly fell head over heels in love with a property they were marketing and all of a sudden we needed to sell our much loved home!
We had been so impressed with Alistair's approach to our viewing of the cottage we asked him to consider marketing our home, which appeared far from the normal properties on their books.
Alistair gave us his opinion regarding the value of our home and marketing strategy which initially took us by surprise. Thankfully he inspired us with such confidence we ran with his idea and thank goodness we did as a week later we had had 9 viewings and 6 good offers above the guide price. This enabled us to be in the privileged position to choose to sell to a couple we really liked and felt confident passing our special and much loved home onto.
Our purchase and sale, I'm told was straightforward but in a very turbulent market I don't doubt the not insignificant role Alistair played in ensuring that.
Despite being incredibly busy Alistair, Mandy and Alex were always prompt and efficient in addressing any questions we had, offering seemingly never ending reassurance and generally ensured a smooth transition liaising between all parties including our solicitor.
We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending thei team to any potential seller, and anyone buying through them? Know that you are in good hands.
They really are a huge credit to the industry and we consider we are jolly lucky we had the sense to choose them!

The team at Humberts were seriously impressive throughout the sale of my house, from initial marketing to completion. Extremely professional and knowledgeable about the local area and always very responsive. Despite selling a beautiful and beautifully maintained mid nineteenth century cottage in one of the most sought after coastal villages, the house stuck due to lack of parking. The team were adamant that the house was worth its price, that I shouldn't reduce and they proved exactly right. They spent a great deal of time talking to many potential buyers, particularly on the parking issue, and to my mind went significantly beyond the call of duty and their very competitive rate of commisson. We recently sold our property through Humberts, having chosen them because we bought it through them 6 years previously, and they were fine then too. This has been a difficult sale (no fault of Humberts) for a variety of reasons, but Mandy and Alex have always been patient and helpful throughout, in spite of the fact that it all took much longer than we had hoped. Costs remained in line with expectations, and they were always available to talk things through as necessary. Mandy went above and beyond the call of duty when assisting with communication problems, and all-in-all we have been most grateful to have them. Highly recommended.

Alex, Alastair and Mandy were absolutely superb selling our property, from valuation through the offer process to the collection of keys for completion day the service was five star. Humberts actually collect the key from you prior to completion and are at the property to meet the buyer, a rare extra service other agents don't seem to offer.
Alex dealt with our sale personally and we just cannot praise hin highly enough for the amount of effort he put in keeping us informed and progress chasing.
Moving house is a very stressful time but Alex managed to remove the stress with his fantastic commitment and communication skills.
If only all estate agents were as good as Alex, Alastair and Mandy.

We have recently bought a house through Humberts of Honiton. Even though they were acting on behalf of the vendors, it seemed to us that they were always acting with our best interests at heart too.
Alex in particular was always available to pass on info as required. He is professional and his communications skills are superb.
The viewings and the bid negotiations were frantic but Alex talked us through the process at every stage.
In the run up to exchange of contracts, we were kept in the loop so always knew what timeline we were working towards.
Completion day was seamless.
All in all, Humberts excelled.

Isn't it false advertising showing the Picture of Humberts Office ~ when it NO longer exists? And to have a registered office address as Queen Street is hardly the Pal Mal of Honiton.
Albeit they seem to have been around the gas works along time. Once the Office went I thought that would be the end of Humberts, and I expect so did many others. They remind me very similar to Stags dealing in The Higher End of the property market, turning up there noses to any mere morsal with a cheaper property, you won't find a Humberts Board on a property down Whitebridges or Livermore Road for example. Anything over half a million go with Humberts or Stags for Peasants like many Honitonians (including myself ) who don't own A small mansion, with stables, A posh car on the Driveway and a couple of Acres of Real Estate give a Swerve ....! ????
