Excellent knowledge and professionalism putting you at ease as soon as you meet them. John Ashton valued our house and without a sale board put up I had three people interested immediately. I am dyslexic and had one or two hiccups with the solicitors, Alan Sutton put me at ease and helped me ensure everything was correct - from then on everything went smoothly. I can’t recommend this company enough I would definitely sell through them again . Not only do they have realistic , knowledgeable information on the area but respond quickly to any enquiry. As a tenant this company is appalling and very unprofessional. They ignore your emails and calls also lie about contacting you! they kept all my deposit without telling me about any dispute services taking advantage of my young age as this was my first time renting and I had no idea, they said I didn’t pay my rent on the last month when I paid every single payment! didn’t even bother letting me know I found out myself 2 months later from the dispute company but now it’s too late. I have to spend more money to taking things further with them now, AVOID them at all costs very unprofessional miserable staff.... Read more

I would not recommend this estate agent to anybody, not only do the staff have a bad attitude when calling to request information, but the lack of communication, no knowledge what so ever how a transaction is meant to go. Do yourself a favour by not going through this agency whatsoever if you are looking to rent in Manchester. They were incredibly unprofessional, not helpful at all for our moving in process and really longed out the procedure. Throughout my tenancy, I had many issues with the house (infestation being one) and nothing was ever done by this agency until I got the council involved. I also contacted regarding them on multiple occasions regarding several repairs that were needed. They decided to finally send a contractor round who had a look and I never heard back from them. They are not responsive, cooperative or helpful in the slightest and require constant chasing up for even the smallest things. You will get no response at all unless you ring up the office endless number of times or actually go down to the office in South Manchester and follow up everything yourself! (John Ashton is incredibly unprofessional and incompetent - never has a clue what he's doing). P.s. Don’t be surprised if you arrange a viewing and find that nobody shows up or decides to drive off as you arrive. Last but not least, no one showed up for my inventory checkout appointment. So I rang them and they said someone will come in half an hour. I told them I’m not going to wait around half an hour for them - got a response on the phone (by Alan Sutton) who said “well what do you want me to do about it”? I then rang up a second time and asked why nobody showed up at the appointment time and said that it’s quite unprofessional isn’t it? To which he hung up the phone. I wonder how he treats colleagues if this is how he speaks to customers. Note: emails from Alan are always confusing and contradictory. Overall, a horrendous experience fraught with problems and lack of professionalism from the beginning. A little bit of professionalism or courteousness wouldn’t hurt. I have moved to another property as a result and will never be using this agency.... Read more

Not responsive at all when we had issues buying our house through them. The conveyancers they use are absolutely shocking and do not know what they are doing. They subcontract their conveyancing to another company despite telling you they do it themselves. Alan who is the manager is extremely unprofessional and rude on the phone. He is abrupt interrupts you and speaks to you in an awful manner. I dread to think how he treats his staff when he’s willing to treat his customers in a poor manner. Will never use or recommend. In Response to their reply below! There was no death and the house was never taken off the market before we exchanged!! We are very good friends with the vendor and ended up arranging the exchange with him direct are we were left practically homeless as they couldn’t honour the exchange date at Hunters or The Conveyancing!!! We had a very painful experience with Hunters South Manchester. A week before our termination date we were offered early settlement as long as we kept our experience confidential and did not write a bad review. We were shouted and sworn at on a number of occasions over the phone by the franchise owner Alan who used his mobile phone (not recorded) and suffered a number of confrontational face to face meetings. We received harassing phone calls after formally providing 21 days to terminate our agreement which included demands for pay-outs of our contract but Alan refused to put this in writing and sent contradictory and confusing follow e-mails after each intimidating call. The quality of our advert was poor. John Ashton spent a considerable amount of time taking photos before we realised he just was not capable of taking a decent photo. He took a video which we asked him not to narrate over having reviewed the video’s he had done for other listings but you could still hear him breathing loudly into the camera. We did not approve the upload of this video but it was uploaded anyway. Thankfully we were able to remove the Rightmove listing ourselves but unfortunately Zoopla needed the Estate Agents approval which they gave 2 days before the end of our contract. The advert also contained countless grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, rooms wrongly labelled and the floor plan was never correct despite copious attempts by John. We were led to believe for the first 2 weeks (incidentally the period in which you can terminate immediately) that our only viewer was imminently going to make us an offer. It turned out that the viewers had not yet sold their own house which we found out after we were forward the e-mail chain between the viewer and Hunters. We were lied to and insulted on countless occasions by Alan. We would discourage anyone from using this branch and would give it negative stars if we could.... Read more

Completed an application form for a property and was told it would take around 3 days. Didn’t hear anything within that timescale so I called and emailed multiple times and every time was told they didn’t know anything or they were waiting for the landlord to sign it off. 11 days after we initially applied, I have now finally received a response saying the property was given to someone else. The email was very sloppy and has poor spelling and grammar. I understand that things go wrong but the lack of communication has left me feeling the customer service was very poor. We have now lost out on time we could have spent looking for other properties. To top it off, the person who showed us round the property introduced himself as John but when we went onto the website to get the phone number, there was a picture of him with a completely different name? Overall I would say Hunters lack customer service, professionalism and communication.... Read more

Very poor experience with these, the colleague that we spoke to lied about his name as we discovered it different on the website after claiming to be "very transparent" as a business. We then had to wait 11 days for any kind of update regarding an application, left with no choice but to email for a progress update only to be informed that the property had been allocated to somebody else. This came in the form of a grammatical catastrophe of an email, spelling mistakes, poor grammar, poor use of spacing. Will look elsewhere, would not recommend.... Read more
