We rented a property through Marsh & Parsons Holland Park in May of this year.
After paying the holding deposit and receiving the contract, I signed within two days. My partner, who had a busy week at work, told the agent that he would need two more days to review and sign the agreement. All of this was still well within the 15 days to agree a tenancy, as no shorter timeframe was agreed. After my partner told the agent - Jack D. - that he would sign within two days, we received the following email from Marsh & Parsons:
‘Regarding the contract, we can’t wait until Friday for you to sign. There was a large amount of interest on the property with the Landlord taking your offer over others.
I discussed the expected timeframes of the contract and invoice payment with Sophie in the flat to manage everyone’s expectations and the Landlord could simply entertain other offers given by Friday it would be over a week since everything was agreed. Additionally, Sophie has signed the Landlord can’t sign until you do.
It’s a standard AST (very similar to what you had at [our previous agency]) with likely the same clauses albeit written slightly different so I would be surprised if there was anything of particular note for you.’
This message took us by surprise as (1) it is stating that the landlord could entertain other offers, which would not be legal as we had already paid a holding deposit and (2) we felt undue pressure was put on us to sign the agreement for no apparent reason as the holding deposit had already been paid and there was more than enough time left in the 15 day period.
Marsh & Parson’s behaviour did not instil confidence in us but it all got worse after we received the countersigned contract. The landlord’s print name at the bottom of the contract did not match her signature, and also did not match her name used in the rest of the agreement. In my view, it can’t be correct that two completely different names for supposedly the same person appear in a legal document. I called the Marsh & Parsons Holland Park office and initially got through to an agent I hadn’t spoken to before. I explained the issue with the contract and stated my concern. After trying to persuade me that everything was in order with the contract and the landlord simply used the ‘name she goes by’ in the contract, he transferred me to another agent. This other agent - Kristel - was dismissive about my concern. She asked me why I was questioning the landlord’s signature, to which I responded that I wasn’t questioning the signature, but rather the fact that two completely different names appear in a contract and that I question this contract’s validity. I asked for a new version of the contract in which the landlord’s signature and name are consistent throughout, to which the agent responded that then she would have to go back to the landlord and question their signature. We haven’t received a corrected version of the contract to date.
Following these experiences I would definitely not recommend Marsh & Parsons Holland Park. Their agents are acting unprofessionally, not in accordance with industry standards and practices and purely in their own interest.... Read more

Collected keys to my property 3 weeks ago, the property was in awful state with appliances missing and service from all staff was horrible since. The response I get from manager Kristel is, quote “ we’ve been through it. I said sorry. We will sort it ‘. It’s been 3 weeks, appliances are stil missing making property unliveable. We already paid a year rent of ober 150,000 pounds and now we are stuck at the company mercy to meet the contract obligations. I was told an area manager will contact me - never did. The only answer from them is ‘ tomorrow ‘ yet tomorrow hasn’t arrived for 3 weeks already. Keep your money and mental health safe - avoid this company.... Read more

It’s with heavy heart to follow up and update on my previous 5 star review. We’re international clients. The agent here did a good job, found us a house and we signed a contract after just one viewing for a Holland Park house with rent way above 10,000 pounds a month. However once the annual rent reached their account - things gone VERY sour. I just arrived for 4 days to London to collect the keys. And the whole experience was shambles, left me hopeless and just want to cry to be honest… the check in was delayed from 9 to 12 to 2… eventually staff came at 3pm. Nobody in the office knew how to contact check in person or company. All clueless. Upon entering property - I was in disbelief. It was DISGUSTING. It looked like squatters been smoking crack. It was so dirty, floor covered in paint. I had to delay furniture arrival. Turns out the cleaners found a better paid job and never turned up. The check in report found ENDLESS issues - main ones being there was no carbon monoxide alarm and fire alarms expired in 2019. Which is unsafe and against the law. They played it low as if they’re not putting my children lives at risk. Marsh & Pearsons should never give me the keys to such property. Electricity didn’t work which I had to fix myself looking for main switches across 4 floors of the property. They painted the property but did a shambles job. I sent 50 pictures to them with parts being badly done. agency promised washing machine and dryer. I talked to them about it to confirm. It WAS NOT THERE. They promised engineer on last day of my visit to UK - confirmed via email and phone. They never came ! I almost missed my flight waiting. The staff there is nice and i liked them. even the holland park and Notting Hill office agree it was all SHAMBLES SHAMBLES SHAMBLES, but they’re just employees. They can’t do anything over the fact that Marsh & Parsons is a cheapskate company that finds all contractors on Facebook marketplace to save any penny they can, at a cost of client having horrible experience. My house is still NOT ready or liveable. However they asked for one year ( around 160,000 pounds ) in advance. Money I can’t get back now. No real solution from store manager - she said she will sort it. one day. Maybe this week. Maybe next. I was offered a bottle of wine to get drink my tears away…. My contract already started and it should of been done upon arrival. Not weeks later. They ruined my first days in UK and my family is dreading the fact we’re stuck with them for next 3 years…. We KNOW if anything goes wrong, they gonna be useless to help. We REALLY liked agent and it feels bad to give such a bad review. We were gonna let it slide. But it was just one horrible thing after another. Everything that could have gone bad - went bad. They aim for high end multi pound property to make the most commission - but find 1 pound random contractors from facebook marketplace and gumtree I presume. My family feels so frustrated that with so many agents in same street. We fell victims to cheapskates Marsh & Pearsons.
