Wonderful agency and staff. The only place that after weeks of desperate search found me a home. Being a foreigner and having to move to London for work I really struggled to find a flat on a relatively short notice, but M&P Earls court was a lifesaver. Even if I find my dream house listed by Marsh and Parsons, I'll stay away because they'll manage to turn the experience into a nightmare. We were misled and misinformed on many fronts with regards to renting a property. In the end, we were forced to move into a property where the amenities promised were never delivered. Completely misled by Marsh and Parsons in relation to the property we just rented and sadly there has been no acknowledgement of this despite multiple follow ups. We were told we would be given keys to the garden square on the day we would move in. We asked several times to confirm before agreeing to take the flat on rent and were repeatedly told we would get the keys on the day we would move in. We are now told we are not automatically eligible after we have moved in, we have to pay an extra fee and don’t know if and when we may get the keys. Please avoid this agency at all costs. I had a terrible experience with them. I was shown a flat that I liked and intended to rent. I had verbally agreed with the agent on the terms of the agreement and the price. I was also explained to that the rent would include an obligatory (?) cleaning service that would happen twice a week and would be charged extra. Supposedly I would have to pay £10 cash directly to the cleaner every week. After agreeing to all this I was told that I would have to pay a one week's rent fee for taking the property off the market BEFORE I could know if the landlord would agree to the rent. Shortly after making this payment I was sent the contract, which was an absolute disaster. Full of vague statements regarding the most important matters like the duration of the renting (we had verbally agreed on one year + half year clause and the contract read 1.5 years with no clause mentioned), the cleaning service (the contract had no details of where the cleaning would happen, how often and the payment of ten pounds was now included in the rent) among other things. The most shocking thing that I was told was that if I was to agree on the contract I would have to pay 6 months of rent BEFORE the landlord would sign the contract. That is when I headed to the agency to explain in person that it would be absurd to ask several thousands of pounds to be paid before BOTH SIDES have signed a contract. I also explained how the contract had flaws and how I wanted it to be written down explicitly that the cleaning would happen twice a week in my flat. Only then did the Italian agent remember to tell me how the cleaning would only happen once every two weeks and not twice a week as agreed, which was "an honest mistake" on her part and how she got confused because "there is a phrase in Italian where bi-weekly means twice a week" (?!). As the agent I was liaising with could not give logical arguments back, she called the manager. An incredibly arrogant, rude man came to lecture me that "this is London for you", "take it or leave it", "the landlord is reputable and does not have to sign beforehand" and tried to convince me that this is the practice of every agency which is completely untrue. After this conversation I explained that I want nothing to do with these practices and sent a formal email explaining that I do not intend to pay them for anything else, as I was afraid they might find other ways to demand more money. i have bought & sold several properties and I have to say The way the communication of this unsuccessful operation was handled by the manager and agent was by far the worst that i have encounter.They were a lot of misunderstandings, just to know later on that some of them were The result of the argents proposals trying to be creative. in the end the operation failed. They may said it was the client, or my lawyer or even blaming me. the truth is I was prepared to buy a property and the client was even complaining to get the normal certificates, and then when he realised his property (Child’s place, close to Earl’s Court), was not legally ready to be sold he asked me to pay for the legal expenses To fix the problem, I agreed in some amount and then he dare to ask me to pay for all the legal and financial expenses of third parties involved! When I said I would pay in good faith for what we agreed on; the lawyer, the client and the agency went silence for weeks. When I finally got tired of chasing them I asked what has happened and the response from the Agency Manager was: “we all lost Interest on this operation”. I invested a lot of money, time, lost opportunities and I get this kind of totally unprofessional response.! This comment is for the public to read, I have sent a big email with all my comments to the manager and he had replied to me passing the responsibility to some else. So I would be surprised if he respond to this public review in the same way. My only advise to whomever is ready to buy a property with money or credit on hand be careful ask for all the papers in advance and don’t let the agentes to jeopardise the operation.... Read more
