Awful experience, rented from these guys back in 2017. Flat was awful, assistance was awful and the application process was horrendous. Reviewing only now after seeing my old emails with them whereby they were completely disorganised. They didn't do anything dodgy with my deposit or such but the price and conditions of the property were unjustifiably bad and considering it was my second rental property, it was suspect that they were so suspicious of my background.

The only constructive feedback I can give is that I did feel at times like communication could have been better along the way,
We had to do a full application including guarantor details before I even knew if they accepted pets.
Then it went from nothing to everything in one step and we had the house.

Northwood, Newcastle under lyme branch absolutely shocking!
My wife was being harassed by the members of staff via telephone. Putting pressure on her to do there inspections when she has just had a baby! Also wanting to do viewings while just brought the baby home! Which she’s stated she didn’t feel comfortable but still putting adverse pressure on her. I’ve got a meeting with the sentinel who are running an article on the experience with Northwood.
Think the public need to be made aware of these colleges and what they are doing.
If anyone is dealing with Northwood always do this via email so there is a email chain. As conversations are not recorded. (Just a heads up)

Please, please do not waste your time renting a property through Northwood, it will be nothing but misery.
My property was left in a complete mess after one of there so called "vetted" tenants moved out
even after Northwood had supposedly done property inspections??
They obviously missed the strong smell of cannabis and equipment used to grow it in my property..yes you read correctly!! Total joke the kind of tenants they let rent a property! It has cost me a fortune to rectify after it was left in what I can only describe as vandalism..thanks Northwood!!

Never in my life have I found a service that was so highly professional and helpful, Dominic and Lukas were fantastic their manners were impeccable and thay really knew how to provide an excellent service.. After all checks they secured a property for us us and in addition they contacted other service providers like Council Tax and other utilities taking out the headache of doing it ourselves. I’ve rented with Northwood for 6 years - they helped me to get a home with my dog in a difficult situation, and worked around me not having any rental history with other references & financials which allowed me to have a home which I love to be safe & happy in. I get quite anxious and so I’ve always found the lead up to house inspections difficult even though they go fine when they happen, because of having a stranger in the house. However as of Kye taking over the house inspections side I’ve found this much easier, as he’s really friendly and approachable and understands completely that people might find the process invasive, and so instantly tries to put you at ease. I feel far less stressed out in the lead up and more confident about maintenance issues.

Lukas and the guys at Northwood Stoke-on-Trent have given me an excellent service. I have let a couple of properties for about 20 years and in the past couple of those they have managed them for me. Previously I did everything myself, which was getting to be a bit of a pain. Now I no longer have to worry about the checks and rent collections. It has really taken a load off and while at first I thought the extra cost might not be worth it, they have long since proven me wrong on that assumption.

I've been on the guaranteed rent scheme a couple of years now and they take all the hassle out of running a property. The property is always occupied and even if its not you are still guaranteed the rent. Any problems with plumbing or heating they have the connections to get it sorted quickly with no fuss. Rented a property in Stoke for 6 months and had issues within the first week. House was freshly decorated but only to hide the mold and damp that was riddled within the property. They literally just painted over the mold, which caused said paint to peel off within days of moving in. A damp expert came out and said it was impossible to trace its source as everywhere was so saturated. Landlord and Northwood admitted that the only solution was to rip out the kitchen and bathroom above. Landlord confirmed the damp and mold was known about before the house was rented out, yet it was rented out anyway. Our guidance was to open the windows and turn up the heating.... in winter.
On top of this, the boiler kept cutting out due to a pressure leak (probably what was causing the damp/mold) we were told to top up the boiler rather than Northwood resolving the issue.
There wasn't sufficient insulation.
Contractors turn up when they want, if they turn up.
Staff at the office use any excuse under the sun as to why things aren't resolved or why they don't get back in touch.
We had to get the council and ombudsman involved things got that bad.
Avoid if you can!!!

I recently moved into a rental property advertised by Northwood. Throughout the whole process they have been professional and responsive, despite my numerous questions and emails. Due to the restrictions in place as a result of Covid-19, Northwood agents have maintained good communication and adapted their way of working well, still meeting the needs of tenants.
Having resided in my beautiful new home now for over a week, I can confirm that reporting problems is quick and efficient, the team are quick to respond and arrange repairs.
A special mention for Lisa Gold, who has handled my tenancy from start to finish, a most patient and professional agent. I extend my thanks and best wishes to her.

We recently used Northwood to sell our house and would highly recommend them to anyone who wishes to have a stress free and supportive sale. We had previously sold a property with them so knew we would not be disappointed!
From the first contact with the office right until the day of completion the team were wonderful.
special thanks goes to Paula who visited us to take the photographs and collate the sales particulars, they were fabulous and considering she didn’t leave until 2pm we were live by 6! Our first viewing following the Friday marketing was Monday evening. Mandy accompanied the viewers and with the most amazing enthusiasm and practical advice! We had an offer at 9:30 the following morning! 3 months later we competed and moved home.
For anyone who wants to know how selling a property should feel - stress free and supported throughout - use Northwood, they are amazing and deserve the fantastic reputation. Thank you to you all Northwood!

I rented a property from this company for three years, I thought they were a good company until I was moving out. The lady that spoke to me dealing with the viewings was rude whilst speaking to
Me over the phone and very pushy about viewings done on the property whilst I was still living there as a tenant has rights to say no. I got in contact with them about handing my notice in but did not get a response for a while and every time I phoned no one seemed to know anything about the property I rented. Every time you phone this company no one seems to know anything about the property and saying people will phone me back and don’t. Then this company tried to say I had left the property dirty when I did not just because they do not want to give deposit money back bringing up “cobwebs” around a boiler. I have contacted them over ten times about deposit money and still not been contacted over this. I am also owed a weeks rent I had over paid before leaving I’m still waiting for this also. This company is only interested in people’s money and no one seems to have a clue what’s going on within the company. I am disgusted and sad about how I’ve been treated via the moving out process, for three years I never once missed a rental payment now when I have come to move out they don’t want to give any money back or money I am owed. I will file a full complaint to the director of the company and going through this process now. This review is to make people aware of the experience I have shared with Northwoods and people will be aware once they move out. I will never be renting again from this company and have gone with a much better one.

This obviously is my OPINION but one you should consider..
If there were negative stars I would use them for what was an atrocious experience.
We rented from this agent a property in shambles that literally had bugs eating the wood.
Upon our departure we were charged hundreds of pounds for damage despite only a few months there.
It is my very educated opinion that the estate agent does indeed help their landlord clients to the point of taking advantage of renters..i do not know if it is an ongoing situation but I feel that properties that are of lower quality are the ones being used for this operation.
I cannot be specific on a review feed yet but its my OPINION that this is possibly an ongoing scam to maximize monies for their clients (which are NOT you the renter).
I am not someone who holds a grudge, this is a sincere concern that I personally would never rent or buy from them again..
I know sometimes when you are not wealthy (like me) you tend to have to accept lower standards of housing, but you should not be fooled or used.
I truly suggest you look elsewhere because if you do rent a property which is already a wreck, then it's my opinion they will try and charge you for that wreck...
We paid a non refundable 200 pound pet fee so not only does the landlord get that (which I was able to live with) but now hundreds of pounds more.
And these were for very minute issues such as a blown light bulb in a room or literally about 12 wild weeds in the garden.
I put a lot of trust in this company and was devastated because of it.
As I stated, just remember, if you are renting, you are not their client, and in my case, my opinion is that I'm just a walking piggy bank..
I'm sure some will dispute this, but I assure you my words are heartfelt.

I can not fault the service I've received from Northwood and the team. Thank you all very much. *UPDATE* Having recently given up my tenancy I would like to say that the service has become polar opposite. Having left the property in a better condition than I received it they have "decided" that the apartment will need cleaning and will be invoicing me the bill for clearing up maintenance products and personal items left there by any number of previous tenants. They have also chosen to withhold an accidental overpayment of rent for the past 10 days. In light of this I most certainly will not recommend Northwood letting agents to anyone, ever. If you have taken possession of a Northwood rental property after reading my previous review, I can only apologise. For future Northwood customers be aware. This has very much turned out to be a Jeckyl and Hyde kind of company. They're caring and helpful as long as they're taking your money.

I've used Northwood, Stoke since 2008. Their guaranteed rental plan takes a lot of the worry aware when you're renting out a property. Their staff are super efficient and they actually do the 3 monthly inspections (You'd be surprised how many letting agent say they will, but they don't). Thanks gus :)

Absolutely shocking they threaten to let themselves in for inspections when we may be out which is highly illegal - they are rude and very very up themselves in every way and manner. Mark especially is the most disgusting rude man we’ve ever come across - apparently he was in the police force - clearly didn’t last long. Left us to light our oven with a match when we had burnt our arms on numberous occasions - literally so happy to be moving from them. So many things I could list - left us with an unsafe front door for months - all they do come and take a picture nothing ever gets sorted! Don’t rent with Northwood!!!! Never felt like our home we lived month the month with the possibility of them coming round or letting themselves in at any moment!!

A cautionary tale indeed. We had our property let through Northwood. Would not recommend them at all. We have 2 rooms where our carpet has been ripped out and replaced by cheap rubbish. In the kitchen the hob and sink need replacing and even though it states quite clearly in the contract that the oven should be left clean ours is so filthy we will have to get professionals in to clean it. During the period the property was let we were so disgusted by the deterioration of the decor that we paid to have the rooms redecorated only to discover that the rooms have just had lining paper put up, no paint and the job is so poor that it hasn’t even be stuck down properly. BUT the worse thing has been to discover that cable tv has been fitted. We have 2 large cable dishes attached to the back of our property along with miles of cables. Holes have been drilled into the property To enable metres of cable to be put through. In the bedroom a hole has even been drilled through the side of the fitted wardrobe to put cable through. This cannot be repaired. Really I would like to have given no stars.

Total waste of tome, offer you a property, I paid all fees, deposit and even first months rent, arranged a move in date, hired a removal van, then the day before I was due to move, a Northwood employee phoned me and said I couldn't move into the property because there was a major damp issue, this was bot acceptable as the house had been empty for a few months, so this work should have already been done. Since then I have found another property with another agent. I am really annoyed about this situation as I believe they actually gave the property to another tenant, and just gave me a cock and bull story. WHEN A DEPOSIT IS PAID IN FULL IT USUALLY MEANS THE THE PROPERTY IS SECURED

Nothing was too much trouble and everyone - especially Sarah was a pleasure to deal with.
