The welcome pack I received when I moved in was unexpected but a really pleasant surprise, the move in and out was an uncomplicated process and would definitely use Romans in Swindon again if I ever move back there, I highly recommend them.

So far so good. Our dealings with Romans have been very good and very detailed. Mark Davison has been our point of contact through the start of our search and find of property. He’s always been honest and always kept us upto date with regards to the tenancy. Everything took alittle while but he was always at the end of the phone or email with information. Can’t fault the service so far. Nice little touch too of a moving in pack. Silly things but nice they’ve thought about it.

Today was a very busy day for me, but when given the opportunity to share my experience, I decide to dedicate time to write this epistle because the quality of service that I received deserve my time.
I wouldn't hesitate to give a review of the smooth service that I received from the team at Romans (Lorraine, Ema, Kate and Patrick).
I wish that I was provided with pre-defined criteria so that I could allocate scores, and I would have scored this team a100%.
Reasons why I would score this team a 100%
1. From the moment that I started contacting you (Lorraine) about the updates and if there were chances of me moving in by the set date,
you answered me very nicely and clearly, and not just that, you called me every step of the process to update me about what stage you, are and what you were doing. You gave me a turnaround time that was met. I remembered you called me after office hours, one of the times to give me update on the rental progress, and that amazes me as other companies that I have transacted with in the past, never work past their scheduled working hours. In summary, your attitude and the service you rendered me was great.
And Ema, your service was great, you were the person that introduced me to the property, and you answered all my questions calmly and professionally irrespective of how many times I called you.
And Katie, you handled my documentation swiftly, your service was great.
And Patrick, you are just a call away, helping me settling in swiftly, aren’t you great?

2. Did I achieve my aim of coming to Romans? And was all the paperwork done accurately and on time?
Definitely yes. I came to Romans to rent a house, I got the house, all the deadlines were met, the paperwork was concluded, and I received my e-copies of documents
and moved in smoothly.
3. Am I happy at the end of the day? Definitely yes. And I am happy to recommend Romans to anyone who desires to rent without stress.
4. Will I want to do business with you next time?
Definitely yes, and not just you (Lorraine) but your entire team.

We viewed a property recently with Romans and Alice Fairclough conducted the viewing. Despite the property not being right for us, this was probably one of the best viewings we’ve experienced over the last year with various different estate agents. Alice was very friendly, yet professional and gave us all the knowledge we needed without having to prompt questions. We will definitely consider Romans in the future for selling our property, as I would have every confidence in them after the viewing we experienced.

Having been a tenant through Romans for over 7 years, I have to say they are fantastic.
Great systems for reporting faults etc and extremely helpful and prompt to respond.. especially Naomi Hamilton who is our property manager. She has been amazing in helping with a leak we had in our bathroom which resulted in a new bathroom suite been fitted. This was all arranged and sorted within a week.
I find Naomi and other Romans staff we dealt with to be very human too..unlike other businesses they really have superb people skills and she is a credit to the business as a whole.

My partner and I are just approaching completion on our first home.
We cannot thank and recommend Romans enough. From viewing, Romans were so helpful in answering our many questions. With offers, they gave us good advice - especially Jordan and Katie. Then while our solicitors were slow and at times not replying to us, we were given a Move Manager who was absolutely exceptional in speeding the process along. Catherine answered many questions that should have been directed elsewhere and gave lots of support while I was worried!
We would definitely look to sell/buy through Romans again. Thank you all! :)

I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with the service I have received from Romans Letting. After deciding not to proceed with a property, I was promised that my holding deposit would be returned within a week. However, it has now been over six weeks, and despite numerous inquiries, the deposit has not been refunded.My experience was further marred by my interactions with Tammy, who is apparently the lettings manager at Romans in Swindon. Her unprofessional and disruptive behavior during our conversation, combined with a severe lack of customer service skills, made an already frustrating situation worse. Tammy seemed more interested in asserting her title than in resolving my issue.Fortunately, my experience improved when I spoke to Adam, the regional manager. He was kind, supportive, and maintained a professional demeanor throughout our conversation. I am grateful for his assistance and his assurance that my refund will be processed soon.In summary, if everything goes smoothly with Romans, then great. However, if any issues arise, be prepared to stand your ground. The discrepancy in service quality among staff is significant, and unfortunately, my experience with Tammy was a stark contrast to the professionalism exhibited by Adam.

We have dealt with Mark Davison, Naomi Hamilton and Lorraine Coakley during our rental via Romans. Mark was the initial agent and was responsive and very honest in his dealings with us. Lorraine dealt with the paperwork and communication has been excellent and the process smooth. Naomi Hamilton is the property manager and thus far has been a pleasure to deal with. As you would expect we have had a few minor niggles during the move and Naomi has delay with us and the landlord quickly and with a very positive manner.

The very next day who calls, I got one I know you will like.
The flat is great, nice location, nicely decorated and at a good price, what more could I ask.

The consultants are very friendly and professional. I've interacted with two of them. Amanda picked up our query quickly, answered all our questions, came on time, and prepared for the meeting/view.
Another colleague called me approximately two hours after receiving my question about a property accepting dogs.
It is the first time I have interacted with the agency, and I am impressed.
A suggestion for the management, though: you should stand up to the landlords and refuse to present properties or houses that are not in order or are visibly neglected. I understand it is difficult to "force" them to do repairs and invest, but if tenants and agencies don't join hands, the situation will not improve. I understand that you are caught between owners, tenants (some neglecting their part of the contract in maintaining the house/property) and what the business needs, but sometimes you need to say NO.

Had an issue recently in the property where I live and Naomi Hamilton, which is our property manager was always helpful and prompt with any issues trying to resolve it. She has even done an extra mile, working after hours to check if partners have replied to her request and updating me later in the evening.

Having migrated to Romans via acquisition, and not having much dealings with them as my current tenant had been in the property for over 4 years. They gave notice in Jan 2024 I dealt with a lady called Naomi Hamilton who managed the whole process of exiting my current tenant seamlessly along with managing the subcontractors for remedial work along with general cleaning and decorating on a very short timeline as Romans had found a new tenant within just a few days. The service from the whole Romans team was first class, But Naomi's attention to detail and communication was 1st class which enabled the whole process to go without a hitch.

My experience of letting agents in the past has been somewhat disappointing. Particularly as a tenant. Some agencies make you feel uncomfortable. Particularly as there is so much competition for each rental property. Romans, however, have been quite the contrary. Any contact I have made has always had a quick and positive response. Making me feel like a tenant is a customer, just as the landlord is. Naomi Hamilton has been exemplary in representing the Romans brand. She is sensitive to any situation and makes a great intermediary between landlord and tenant. All done with a happy, positive approach to her work. A great brand ambassador. So, for me, Romans are a respected and most importantly, respectful letting agency.

Although staff are friendly and try to be helpful, I sense they are thwarted by higher management levels and bureaucracy. Recently, Romans omitted to forward important correspondence to me regarding council tax owed, resulting in a court summons that I had to avoid by paying a fine of £60. Since this fine would have been avoided if Romans had forwarded me the correspondence, I asked if they could cover the fine. After several weeks of following up (during which the matter was apparently escalated up various management levels) they finally agreed to cover just half of the fine (£30). My tenancy agreement was reaching its end but I hadn't been contacted about whether I would like to stay at the property, if the rent would be going up or if the landlord wanted me to leave etc. I called up on 3 separate occasions and was told someone would call me back to let me know what's happening; no one followed up. My contract ends in less than a month and I've been stressing about my current living situation when I called the office again and spoke with someone called Rebecca.
All I can say is she is absolutely superb and gets the job done! She was apologetic about the situation even though she hadn't personally done anything wrong and managed to sort everything out in less than 24hrs, keeping me posted on what was happening the whole time. She even offered to take on managing my property so I know I'm in safe hands going forward.
I'll finally be able to rest easy again knowing I still have a place to live! Honestly, thank you so much Rebecca for your help!

Moved into rented flat two weeks ago. Not cleaned inside, mainly on walls. Clearly not cleaned professionally as toothpaste stains on bathroom edges and mess on kitchen sides.
Both sink plugs broken and no feedback at all on anything being done about it.
To top it off, ring me today to ask me for a bin code for another client in which I had to get off a neighbour because they also didn’t come back and give it to me!!!

I rented from Romans for 2 years and my experiences for moving out have been terrible. The communication from Patrick has been awful, there was a dispute about the deposit. It's been 2 months now and still waiting for my partial deposit to be paid back.
My advice is avoid them but if you have to use them take as many photos and evidence as possible, they will rinse you like £50 for a fridge tray and £120 for decorating. They were so much better as Dewhurst.

Fantastic service and care from Naomi Hamilton, the Property Manager. There was a leak at my brother’s tenanted flat and Naomi’s swift and professional response made sure it was dealt with quickly, so the damage was kept to a minimum and hopefully won’t be long-lasting. they do nothing for the money, a couple of times the tenant left without paying several months and they did nothing but call a couple times,
The charge you a rip off for repairs , commissions , and gas certificates, they use the most expensive repair services available , i am pretty sure there are backhanders
They also take their 15% gross of the expenses, not on the rent you actually make
They also decided to take 20% tax retention on top cos i was living overseas
dont fall for it, they dont do anything, but take commisions, i am renting it out by myself and i get 100% of the money and very few problems

Dewhurst (now Romans) have managed our family’s properties in Swindon since 2015.
During that time, I have always been impressed with the efficiency with which they have sought tenants and managed the properties.
Although everyone there that I have spoken to has always been very courteous and efficient, the main person that I have dealt with has been our Property Manager, Fran Woolhouse.
She is always a joy to work with – even when she has contacted me to report a problem!
Fran has come to our rescue many times, arranging contractors to rectify various problems ranging from faulty appliances to wind-damaged fences. She also arranged contractors to completely re-decorate and carpet one property.
On one occasion, when our flat was being flooded by faulty plumbing from the property above, she worked tirelessly to arrange for investigations and rectification work to take place. Over a period of 6 weeks, over 140 emails were exchanged between Fran, the tenant, the plumber/builder and me. Despite this, Fran was always cheery when she answered my calls, and I am forever grateful for the efficient way she relieved the pressure on me.

Myself and my wife have been renting for a number of years and are now relocating to Essex to buy our forever home. During the last 13 years we have rented with Dewhurst & Co and one other company in Swindon. I wont name the other company but they were awful, allowed workmen into our home without noticfying us, doing therir checks and not telling us they were coming, sorts of things that were not right, so we left the property and made sure we found the next one through Dewhursts. Every member of the team at Dehursts is motivated to help you and I have never once had an issue that was too much, even at 9pm on a Saturday evening when our cooker went bang, we had an electricain in the house in under an hour and it was fixed with a new part at 10am on the Monday. If you need to rent in Swindon then do yourself a favour and dont look beyond the servie that Dewhursts offer, its first class and you will not regret it.

I have used Dewhurst & Co to let a property I have owned in Swindon for more than ten years. They have always provided a first class service and their staff are friendly, polite and courteous. Dewhurst & Co have proved to be very good at securing new good quality tenants and I have never had any problems with tenants damaging the property or causing any problems. The periods between tenancies have also been very short thanks to their marketing of the property. They also have a good network of tradespeople thay can offer to conduct repairs and maintenance work.
I have used their sales team to assist with the selling of the property and we are due to complete today.

We sold our family home and moved into a rental house in order to be in a better position to purchase our new home. Expecting that we'd only be in rented accommodation for 6 months it ended up being over 2 years. I now believe I can give a truly honest opinion.
We rented a large (for the area) 4 bed detached house from Dewhurst. The team we dealt with were in the Aiken way branch and we always received a warm and professional welcome from then on any communication. Manda dealt with the legalities and was always fair, Al helped us with the initial setup, and Danie (who is an absolute star) helped with all ongoing maintenance.
The house we rented was in a poor condition when we moved in. The landlords had moved abroad and asked Dewhurst to manage it on their behalf. Dewhurst did an exceptional job repairing damages and decorating so desperately needed, although it took a long time to always get agreement from the landlord to fund, the landlord always did eventually.
We paid a professional carpet and end of tenancy cleaner on departure and received 100% of our deposit back.
Very happy with our experience with Dewhurst. They are professional, honest, and fair. Highly recommended.

Spoke to Julie Coombes at the letting office yesterday. I know that we are currently in a very stressful situation and having to change our lives but, when I rang to ask about guidance for renting property, I.e. whether or not we were able to proceed with rentals at present, I was greeted with a barrage of information, sounded like it was read from a script, very angry lady, clearly totally fed up with her job!!! I was enquiring due to having to move home for personal reasons and, instead of an empathetic and supportive approach, she made me feel so much worse. Suffice to say, when rentals are up and running again, I will not be using Dewhurst. Shame on you Julie for being so unkind.!!!

We initially contacted Dewhurst & Co, Taw Hill regarding a property we had seen on Zoopla. Unfortunately, the property was unable to accept a dog, however, Julie went out of her way to find a property that would accept a small dog and one that also met all of our other requirements. As I work within an office 9am - 5pm, it is also sometimes difficult for me to take calls. However, this was not an issue at all as Julie spent a few days emailing me with potential properties, arranging a viewing and providing general information regarding the rental process. I am pleased to say we are now beginning the referencing process for a property that we have fallen in love with which we would have not have seen should Julie not have sent it to us. Unfortunately, we received really poor service from this lettings company both as a lettings agents, and as an estate agent when we came to sell the property. (Approx 1 year ago).
The main issue is lack of any decent customer service (they're all perfectly polite - but much more than that and I wouldn't expect much). I appreciate things can go wrong, and mistakes are made, but this company seem for more intent on covering they're own backs and pretending everything is fine, then admitting fault when they've made mistakes.
Problems included:
Poor admin of check in and check out of tenants
Inventory errors (resulting in increased Landlord costs to cover tenant damage)
No joined up historical data of inventory item replacements etc.
Really poor lettings photos
No proper understanding of the market when we came to sell
And finally, we've not used this company for over a year now, as the property we had let out was sold, but we've recently found out that the council had been forwarding bills to them, which they were returning to the council (fair enough!), but they received a summons letter from the council and didn't even bother to notify us. They had all our details on file, and we had the property let through them for many years, and they couldn't make the effort to send a 2 line email to let us know. No - they aren't contractually obliged to do so - but it would have taken all of 5 minutes and would have saved us hours of time and expense for a little customer service.
On a positive note whilst the property was let out during the tenancy the management was absolutely fine - rent received, maintenance notified to us promptly etc... but sadly the cons far out weight the pros.

This agency is shocking. I'm currently working on an article that exposes a number of estate agents and their shady dealings when it comes to returning deposits, based on interviews with disgruntled tenants.
