I would avoid SHH and especially any property that's for rent which is listed by Musha Properties. (Martin Mangaba) I rented a property for 18 months through this landlord and after 42 days and counting, I am still chasing for my deposit to be released. I've since had a counter offer were Musha Properties are trying to claim for damage which I inherited when moving into the flat and was already mentioned on the inventory at first move in date. I would recommend anyone to stay as far away as possible from slater Hogg. From the start, my partner and I were written off because of our age (mid 20’s). Our solicitor tried to put in an offer but our offer was rejected as we were told there would be a closing date and we were told that they would keep us updated on when to put in our offer. After a week, we had not heard anything from them so decided to call them, they told us that they were in fact accepting offers but yet they had not thought to contact us and tell us, like they said they would. We decided to put in an offer anyway as we loved the property and our offer was accepted, however, after this, we were frequently harassed for information on our finances: we were warned if we did not go with their mortgage advisor, we would be less likely to get the house. They frequently tried to get information on our mortgage advisor, we believe this is so they could criticise their tactics and persuade us to use theirs, which is extremely unprofessional. Our solicitor and mortgage advisor (not slater Hogg) had to get in contact with them to resolve this harassment. We were then informed that was was a sales tactic, which made us feel very uncomfortable and put us on edge. This company was very unprofessional and problematic; I would advise anyone to avoid them at all costs.... Read more

My fiancé and I bought a property from this company. When it came to putting in an offer, the company were terrible at communicating with us on the sellers wishes and we had to constantly phone them to find out what was going on. Additionally, the staff were extremely rude to my partner and l on several occasions, in fact, on one occasion, my partner was at work, so business should have gone through me, however when they called me they were adamant that they could not do business with me and it had to be him (I feel as though this was because of my gender as a female because our household is fully equal in all aspects so there was no reason why they shouldn’t speak to me). We were undermined because of our young age as sellers (under 30) and as a result it ruined our experience as a whole, making us feel not worthy of our success and ruining our joy of buying a house. With all of this in mind, when we had our offer accepted, we had to go in to show identification and they were extremely unwelcoming to the pair of us and all of the staff except Katie refused to answer any questions we had. We were made to feel stupid for having general enquiries about the process. On the day of sale, Slater Hogg did not have the correct paperwork in place and did not communicate with us on this. Our solicitor had to chase this up throughout the day and the company didn’t seem to care about their mistake, this meant that we didn’t get the keys to our house until the evening of sale which meant it was a struggle for us to move our stuff over given the little amount of time we had. When they handed us the keys, none of the staff wished us a congratulations and none of them remembered any of our details, which made us feel insignificant and ruined our exciting process. Further, we felt as though they were very intrusive and cared more about making money than they did anything else. To sum up, I would not recommend using this company, the staff are extremely rude and evidently have no interest towards your personal journey in buying a house. Their lack of communication made it extremely difficult for us to know what was going on, which caused constant anxiety for the both of us. I would like to stress here that my fiancé and I are not the kind of people to usually comment negatively on companies as we understand that sometimes intentions can be misunderstood, however, this poor treatment happened on multiple occasions so we feel as though we ought to share our situation so that no one else has to go through what we did. These problems are all things that can be avoided with the right amount of care and concern towards their customers.... Read more

I would highly recommend Slater Hogg & Howison Letting Agent. I have been a customer at the Falkirk Branch for a number of years and my main contact is Jackie (Falkirk Branch, Lettings Manager). Over the years, Jackie and I have built up a great relationship and understanding which is very important to me. I have total trust in Jackie's judgement. Jackie gets it right every time with new tenants and makes the whole process very straightforward and painless from start to finish. I'm given regular up-dates on new legislation, when the property is going to be marketed, viewings and potential tenants.
