I had a few of the well known estate agents value my property. It was an easy choice selecting Stephensons to act as our agent as Tom arrived so well prepared, he had clearly taken the time to research my property.
The process to get my property to market was then very smooth and efficient.
It didn't take long for prospective buyers to start viewing my home and after the 5th viewing we accepted an offer we were very happy with.
We were in a chain and Mary was absolutely brilliant at nurturing all the relationships with our buyers and various other estate agents and solicitors to get us to completion.
I would highly recommend Stephensons Selby.

Tom and the team at Stephensons handled our purchase of a property and I honestly couldn’t recommend them enough.
Stephensons went above and beyond to work with us and were available at all times to help and update us.
There were a few solicitor issues along the way (nothing to do with Stephensons or us) and Stephensons communicated throughout, were understanding of both parties situations, and ultimately made sure everyone was happy at the end of things.
Thank you Tom for all the help and hard work, we love our new home and would definitely recommend you to any friends or family looking to move in the area.

I found out via my buyer that there were other people booked to view my house that I wasn't told about. The buyer felt obliged to make a speedy offer and I was convinced to accept. It all felt rushed and unprofessional. I complained but was brushed off. I offered a solution that in good faith they reduced their invoice by £500 and that reduction I would donate in whole to a local charity in both our names. Various people at this firm in high management positions wrote poorly worded emails to me, littered with mistakes and even besmirched my character and threatened me with legal action and costs.
I would avoid using this company there are many other smaller local firms that I have used before who offer a higher degree of professionalism and perhaps a more charitable and compassionate approach to their local community.
I was saddened they did not accept my offer of a compromise of a charitable donation in both our names, this was never about financial gain for me personally as the reduction would have been given in its totality to a local charity. I think their rejection of a compromise speaks volumes about the ethos of this company. I also told this company that I did not want to conduct viewings personally, perhaps this is why I was pushed to accept the offer from the first person who viewed the day after going live. This firm of estate agents work solely for themselves, not the seller nor the buyer. Avoid. Here are some of their responses:
"I spoke at length with my length with my office manager" Freudian slip perhaps?
"have acted in an unprofessional manor."
"I have to say that I take a very dim view of this approach. I have been faced with it on a number of occasions over the last 20 years and I will have no hesitation in passing the file over to our company solicitors to pursue the fee in it’s entirety. This will include a claim for costs and interest."
"the Managing Partner of Stephensons Estate Agents, has requested I reaffirm our position. The file will be immediately handed to our solicitors if payment is not received"
"I’m afraid your buyer is simply not telling you the truth."
This last quote calls into question my character and if the extremely senior person who wrote it had taken the time to speak with the branch manager they would have known I raised this over a month ago well before exchange or completion. I've requested they apologise for their accusation against my character, but they have ignored my requests for an apology:-
"I would also question as to why you waited for exchange of contracts and completion to take place before raising this as an issue."

Tom at Stephensons sold our property brilliantly. Jennifer and Mary helped us with every aspect of the sale and in completing the move fantastically. We had many problems with our purchase property - which was a process filled with much frustration and complications - particularly around completion dates and in the throws of the move day through another agency who just weren’t around to help. Stephensons really stepped up - thank goodness we had their help as I doubt we would have got moved. It was a massive comfort to have them working so hard with us, reacting to circumstances as they arose and finding solutions. We were delighted at the service from selling to move day. Stephensons have to be the very best estate agents in this area!
After two attempts to sell - firstly with Preston Baker and then with Park Row, we were really disheartened and decided to take our property off the market.
We were then contacted by Tom at Stephensons who came out to see us.
He was friendly, professional and informative. He convinced us that we should try again, but with Stephensons, as he was convinced he could find us the right buyer. He told us that his team "do it differently" - and, in fairness, this is what most Estate Agents tell you. The difference here is that HE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH!
We then had a flurry of activity when the house went onto the market and a number of viewings. These viewings were so different from others we had experienced - all much better qualified viewings that the previous ones. These potential buyers were people who knew about our property, were genuinely interested and had the right budget (a pretty important factor when purchasing a property!).
By Christmas we had two couples who both offered us the asking price - and we would have been delighted to sell to either. Sadly, one couple had to be disappointed, as we went with the couple who were in a better position to act.
Our sale has now exchanged and we cannot thank Stephensons enough for their help, guidance and professionalism.
Special note goes to Jennifer Harrison. She has been amazing throughout and we have truly felt it has been a genuine and personal service.
We must also give our sincere thanks to Mary and June - they have been a brilliant back up.
It has been a bit of a complicated sale. Our Solicitor has been great, but further down the chain there were completely useless on-line legal people (acting for the first time buyers at the start of the chain). These on-line lawyers were so incredibly slow that they put the whole chain in jeopardy. Stephensons (namely Jennifer and Mary) were very proactive and kept the chain stable with a lot of "behind-the-scenes" phone calls and activity.
We cannot fault the service provided by Stephensons. We truly believe that they have earned every penny of their commission - they have worked very hard for it.
If you are looking to sell - and want a really professional service, where you feel that YOUR property is important and that you are a really valued customer, then we highly recommend Stephensons. What an amazing team!
We look forward to our move - and thank you Stephensons for helping us realise our dream. What price can you put on that?

We didn’t use as our agent but these guys acted for the vendors we were purchasing from. Outstanding service all round, 10/10.
They gave us so much support and advice to manage the move as effectively as we could.
