I am very pleased with the service I have received from Izabela and Megan, they make a great team. I have been using W.H Brown for two years. I know that working as a letting agent is a stressful and demanding job, but Izabela and Megan enjoy the challenge.

I am not the easiest person to deal with, because I have had two letting agents who have cancelled their contracts with me, because I lost my temper, because I was not happy with their performance. I have highlighted this to Izabela and Megan and they understood my frustration. As a team we work really well. They manage and market the property to minimise voids,  I play my part by making sure my properties are well maintained. Working this way we have achieved fantastic results, and they have exceeded expectations. Renting out properties can be a stressful experience but working together with these lovely ladies they have eliminated my stress.

Terrible experience buying an house through these.got offer accepted, 2 weeks later told us a higher offer had been made and wanted to know if we would better it.
Legally did nothing wrong but morally corrupt.

Had a house viewing booked. Came up from my work in London on the Friday evening to view the property on the Saturday. Just looked on the website for the street name as I couldn't remember, to see that its sold. Nobody even bothered to contact me to let me know. One hour before the viewing and I'm sat here £60 down for their incompetence. Unprofessional. Avoid.

Buying a property through William H Brown was very easy and stress free. Liam was excellent from start to finish, arranging a viewing for me straight away and keeping me up to date throughout the short process. Would 100% recommend to anyone.

The valuation I received from William H Brown seemed very good initially but I found that the property was significantly down valued by the buyers mortgage provider and this caused the first sale to fall through. I didn't not receive anything like the sale price I expected from the valuation that William H Brown provided, which was very disappointing. I feel that I should have received more support and communication from William H Brown around this, especially when paying them a healthy fee for their services.

I'm a first time buyer and I found the Brows branch in Barnsley so help full.  Got me in for an appointment with the Financial advisers to lay out all the cost and steps I would need to take when buying my house. were so understanding of my lack of knowledge on the topic and talked me through everything, so easy to work with them and I never felt like a  burden with all my questions. was able to do everything in the branch (solicitors, photos, mortgage) which helped with the difficult process and I will most defiantly be going back to them if and when I move again.   All settled in my new hope and couldn't be happier.

Outstanding service from the team at this branch. They are professional, positive and lovely to talk to. They managed to sell my house quickly and helped out when I needed meter readings - nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this branch to anyone wishing to sell and would like to thank everyone with whom I had dealings.

We would not recommend the agency to anyone. We approached the agency in the search of the proper agent to sell our house. The representative called  us several times within a week promising quick sale at a great price. After we signed the contract, the contact was limited. The photos taken did not show the house in the proper light, the price was higher than other properties in the area. Within the 3 month period we did not have any viewings and nearly no contact with the agency. Then when the date of end of contract approached and we wanted to confirm the details of expiry we have been informed about the 28 days notice period which the agent did not mention at all. We have been left disappointed and dissatisfied with the service that was supposed to be best of the best.

Found me tenants for a property within 2 weeks that had been advertised for the prior six months with another agent with no interest at all, so was considering selling it and had a valuation with that in mind but wh Brown  talked me into trying it for rental with them and hey presto tenants found

I have always used William H Brown in Barnsley for all my rental properties and valuation of properties.
They have always been brilliant, nothing is too much trouble, very professional and you always get 100% from the staff.

I can’t say I would ever deal with William H Brown again. We did everything we could to make moving out easier for them. But as soon as those keys are handed in and we need help let’s just say there service changes massively.

I live in USA and have a daughter that has relocated back here with our grandson. They are outgrowing their apartment and are in need if a rental house with garden. I visited this William H.Brown location in February while visiting, to at least establish contact so that we could work with them to rehouse my daughter, I have emailed them three times now and they have not even had the decency to email me back. So now I am stuck on what to do. The least they could do would be to acknowledge my email and say that can not help, if they really can not, but they did not say that when I visited.

William H Brown's in Barnsley have been absolutely fantastic throughout the sale process and I cannot rate them highly enough. I initially used the online valuation request tool, and within a few minutes received a phone call and booked a valuation for the following morning (days and in some cases weeks before other companies could arrange a valuation). 

Michael who valued my property gave a fair and realistic valuation and was extremely helpful. Upon signing my contract to use Brown's to sell my property I received regular updates by phone and email and it was only 2 weeks before my property went live.

I started to get viewings quite early and Liam in the sales team gave me regular feedback following viewings. He really went the extra mile to promote my property and was a constant delight to speak with over the phone.

I arrange a mortgage appointment with Joshua at Brown's at very short notice, and Joshua was also a credit to the company providing more than just a mortgage quote but also liaising with another branch when I wanted to put an offer on a house in a different area. With Joshua's help I am in  the process of purchasing my dream home at a fantastic price.

My only negative experience has been with the conveyancing solicitors which were recommended by William H Brown's, whom have been very slow and reactive rather than pro-active throughout the process. However, Dawn at Brown's stepped in to offer support and liaise between my conveyancing solicitor and my buyers solicitor to ensure that the sale completed without further unnecessary delay. Without Dawn's intervention the sale was at risk of falling through and I will forever be indebted to her for her help.

I started the process at the end of September 2018 by first contacting Brown's via the online valuation request, and today (mid February 2019) my sale has completed, considering the market is generally slow over the festive period Brown's did well to push things through.

Really lovely estate agents. I spoke with Liam first of all who helped me pick various properties to view. Once he'd got a feeling of what I wanted from a property I was kept updated with anything new on the market and viewings were arranged promptly and around my shift patterns. I found him extremely friendly and approachable and would highly recommend him. Any questions I had were responded to either by phone or email extremely quickly.
I then went through Josh to sort out my mortgage. Again, a friendly, professional person who explained everything clearly to me and was up front about costs and time scales. After a blip due to my circumstances, Josh was quick to find the right mortgage for me that was affordable and suited my needs.
Overall these guys have been great. Being a first time buyer, the whole process was daunting, but due to their great communication I'm on my way to getting my first home. Thanks everyone.

The Lettings team at W H Brown Barnsley have provided me with a great service throughout the stages of letting my property. They have maintained a good level of communication both between myself and the tenants, which has made for a smooth and hassle-free process. I would not hesitate to recommend.

I am very pleased with the service I have received from Grace, Megan and Karen  so far. They appear to have been really proactive, and have kept me informed throughout the process of letting out my property, which has now been let. Because I live along way away. I have maintenance people who have dealt with Grace, and Megan on my behalf, and are very impressed in the knowledge and enthusiasm they have shown. Working as a team we have now managed to now let the property in the time scale we set. I think for these ladies, it is not just a job but a passion. They are a welcomed breath of fresh air compared to my previous agents.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. 6 months tenancy and I still didn't receive my agreement. Avoiding my emails and phone calls. People that work there, doesn't know what they doing.

Pretty annoyed with this estate agents, I really wanted to apply to rent a house with them but for some reason they wouldn't let me apply I had to wait for the landlord to decide who he wanted?? I thought you were supposed to apply first for them to be able to make the decision? Anyway I kept being told they would ring me when the decision was made, two weeks after the viewing and I'm yet to hear back from them oh and the house now shows as let agreed apparently. I'll be staying away from this estate agents in future. Should have trusted the already existing negative reviews against this company.

Karen from lettings - disgustingly rude woman! Called our office RE one of their tenants (a staff member of mine) supercilious over the phone then decided hang up mid conversation..not been spoken to like that in a long time & I feel for anyone who has to deal with this “lady”.  I’d recommend an early retirement!

Excellent experience, Abby came to value my home and provided a thorough and excellent presentation, she explained the process from start to finish (as I haven’t moved for over 20 years) clearly very knowledgable and experienced, extremely confident in the company and the passionate staff they have in the office

Absolutely shocking service no correspondence while selling a property with them, completely forgot to tell me about one viewing then couldn’t even find details of it happening showing a lack of communication in the branch would really recommend you go elsewhere. Mines been up with purple brick for 5 days and sold showing these lot really have no idea

Even now I’ve withdrawn my property from sale with them it’s still online and I’ve told them 3 times to remove the advert!

Me and my partner went through the Barnsley branch to book a viewing for the house we was interested in buying. I rung them trying to arrange the viewing however said that ‘everyone was in a meeting’ so would call me back. I then rung back 3/4 hours later, got the same reply. My partner then rung the following day and arranged a viewing for the house we wanted to see, on the day of the viewing myself and partner waited outside the house half an hour after the time that we had arranged, my partner then rung the branch and then said that they had nothing on the system for the viewing that we had booked. Then said there must had been a mix up and that they would ring us back. They still haven’t rung back over a week later. 

Very unprofessional! Would never go to these to view a house again.

An absolutely shocking experience, having being booked for a private viewing through Grace, I later get told by one of their incompetent employees that it is an open house with 12 other people. Given they provided us with misleading information, asking me to make amendments to my day (changing the childrens hospital appointments) to suit them, they completely lied. The reaction I got lacked empathy, they didnt even know what property I was ringing up about when I advised them it was Woolley Grange, which is the only Woolley Grange property advertised in the world for rental - BY THEM. Clearly low paid workers who lack intelligence.

My experience with William H Brown has been disgraceful from start to finish.

The extremely poor experience with this agency is the reason I left the property. 

Initially, the team within the Barnsley branch appeared extremely helpful, this was until I had paid the fee's and committed to the contract.

After this point, there was nothing but problems, lies & deceit. 

The first problem was that the agency kept pushing back the date that I could collect the keys to move into the property. 

I was promised 3 separate dates & 8 days after the initial date I was finally able to move in. 

Within the first month, I had 3 separate call-outs for the boiler. Each time with a response from the contractor of "The agency didn't pay me enough to fix the entire thing".

I had to endure having a bucket under the boiler, to catch leaking water for 3 weeks until William H Brown would arrange the final contractor. 

After 2 months at the property, William H Brown contacted me, attempting to get me to commit to another 6 months contract on the house. 

I informed them I was not yet ready to make my decision, as I had only spent 2 months in the house and was not sure. 

This would have been an easier decision if there were not a large cost for the contract fee's from William H Brown every 6 months.

I was "pestered" by William H Brown, with daily telephone calls & emails, this was very disruptive to my life as they rang during work hours. Multiple times a day.

After 2 weeks of enduring this, I decided NOT to continue with the house, not because I didn't like the property - but due to the fact that the agency obviously had no commitment to the tenant. 

After informing William H Brown that I would not be continuing with the tenancy - they responded requesting me to allow people to view the property while I still had 2 and a half months left on my contract. 

I informed them that I was unhappy with allowing people viewing the house while I was a tenant as I had personal possessions at the property & I could not commit to a specific time due to work.

They continued to push for me to "Drop the keys off" at the Barnsley branch so they could conduct viewings while I was not there.

After 2 weeks of declining this, I received very threatening emails & letters from William H Brown in regards to "Breaching Contract" and "Informing the landlord".

Going forward, I agreed to allow viewings of the property - in the last month of my tenancy.

William H Brown did not send a representative and left it up to me to demonstrate the house & guide people around. I found this extremely disrespectful as I do not work for William H Brown, it was not my job or my role to sell the property to the next tenant. 

Finally, after I had vacated the property - I thought the nightmare was over, I was completely wrong. It had only just started.

William H Brown are currently trying to dispute a large portion of my deposit for non-sense reasons, such as "Deep Cleaning" of the kitchen. 

Not going into specifics, but William H Brown are trying to charge me for the removal of items which were left at the property by the landlord & also general maintenance which should be conducted by the landlord & agency, such as the painting of outside doors & cleaning of extraction fans (this was never used by me in the entire occupancy). 

After trying to negotiate which the agency & landlord, without any movement I have had to raise this to a dispute & this will more than likely end in small claims. 

Based on my experience over the last 6 months, I highly recommend you avoid William H Brown by all means. 

This is the worst agency which I have ever dealt with.

We viewed and made a strong offer on a house which was only 5k below asking price. My partner had arranged the viewing, so they had his details, and I rang to make the offer. The person on the phone didn't even take my details which I thought was strange but assumed it was because they had my partner's details. They assured me they'd put the offer to the seller and ring us back.

William H Brown never got in touch with us again. We rang and they kept promising to call us back but never did. What kind of customer service is that?? Actually, they did call my partner once to tell him someone had made an offer of £xxx,xxx and did we want to make one- this was our offer!!!!!
