I would strongly advise anyone considering Hose Rhodes Dickson to think carefully before doing so.
During our tenancy, we experienced a number of serious issues, including being left without reliable hot water for approximately three months. Despite numerous reports, promises of call-backs, visits from contractors and assurances that repairs would be carried out, the issue remained unresolved for an unacceptable length of time.
Communication throughout our tenancy was consistently poor. Calls were often not returned, updates were limited, and we frequently found ourselves chasing for information regarding problems within a property for which we were paying almost £2,000 per month in rent.
Perhaps most disappointing was the way matters were handled when we were applying for a new tenancy. However, when approached for a reference, the same payment arrangement was later used to suggest that rent had been paid late, resulting in a negative reference. This was despite the arrangement arising from their own inability to provide clarity on what payment amount they expected during that period.
In my experience, customer service and tenant welfare appear to take a back seat to commercial interests. While Hose Rhodes Dickson may be one of the largest letting agents on the Isle of Wight, our experience was that size does not necessarily equate to quality of service.
