We have purchased two properties through this estate agent (with one purchase still ongoing) and unfortunately the experience has been disappointing! Communication within the office staff has been very poor, and it often felt like staff were not communicating with each other. When our solicitors experienced delays, we were repeatedly threatened that the properties ( both of them) would be put back on the market, despite this never actually happening! This created unnecessary stress during an already demanding process. In addition, both surveying companies we used commented on the difficulties they had communicating with this estate agent, which suggests our experience was not an isolated one. While we appreciate that an estate agent acts on behalf of the seller, we felt there was very little effort to facilitate the process for the buyer or keep everyone informed. Overall, the lack of communication and the way issues were handled made what should have been an exciting experience far more frustrating than it needed to be.... Read more

I had mixed personal reviews prior to my contacting Dourish and Day but I will NOT using them to sell my property as I'm appalled at the "it's not my job" attitude. I will be contacting the estate agency that sold my parents bungalow as they were proactive and cheaper fees! They refused to let myself, or my property agency, know the date/times of Dourish and Day availability for a valuation so an appointment could be arranged with my tenant. They also refused to make ONE phone call and contact the tenant directly as Dourish and Day had misunderstood what my tenant had said upon initial contact. My agent informed me that they have tried making contact but are awaiting a response from Dourish and Day which Dourish and Day have denied. When I requested an update this is the response "We will not move forward until they call us with the tenants availability for us to attend as it is their responsibility to clear things with them."... I am very disappointed with how this purchase was handled. It became clear that your focus was largely on the seller’s interests rather than ensuring a fair and transparent process. While I understand your role, there is still an expectation of honest and professional negotiation. The property required significant work, yet our attempts to negotiate based on its condition were dismissed without meaningful discussion. Instead of acting as an intermediary, it felt as though unrealistic expectations were being reinforced. We invested considerable time, money, and emotion, but our concerns about the property’s condition and associated risks were not taken seriously. Overall, the experience lacked transparency and fairness, and it was difficult to feel that our position was properly represented.
