19th Apr 2022 (4 years ago)Could not recommend this landlord at all for a domestic rental. Negligent from the get go, reported smoke alarm several times but they didn’t care to fix it. Agent at the time of entry made a note of it and did nothing putting 2 adults and 4 children at risk. If I could give zeros stars I would have, avoid at all costs. Try to use scare lingering tactics to recoup deposits, fabricating pictures that again where present before we took on the proeprty

30th Mar 2026 (18 weeks ago)Peter Murray made an illegal will for my uncle, Sir Michael Maxwell Bt, in 2013, who was in the depths of frontal lobe dementia (this was against medical and legal advice). They were the sole executor and sole witness to this will. Micheal had been sectioned and told he could not make a will in England prior to this. They hid a relevant doctor’s letter which was only extracted by lawyers. The firm has refused to admit liability despite overwhelming and unequivocal evidence and caused huge headache a heartache for our family over the past 5 years and huge legal costs. They are unprofessional and to be avoided at all costs. They have also stopped family staying at our family home - Monreith- and prevented my mother’s burial there. It is disgusting. The contents of the will are inconceivable to all family and destroy our family’s 800 year history in Dumfries and Galloway.

10th Jun 2026 (8 weeks ago)I used Hollie McDicken for solicitor conveyancing to purchase my first house and she was amazing, I was kept informed all the way through and she didn’t put a single foot wrong. Sometimes you hear horror stories about Solicitors taking an age to reply or respond but I had 0 issues with this and would not hesitate to use Barnetts Services again

27th Jul 2016 (10 years ago)The purpose of this review is not to be defamatory or be untrue it is simply an account of my experience of MacPhee & Co. So here is my sorry story. I employed MacPhee & co to sort out legally the custody of my daughter. While I had no problem as lawyers they were actually rather good. The problem started When I received a substantial bill, quite simply I felt they did not keep me informed as to what kind of fees they were running up. When after numerous and phone calls it became apparent that I couldn’t pay their fees straight away and despite agreeing that I pay in installments as quickly as I could. With 2 working days notice they resigned from the case leaving me unrepresented. Now in fairness they did give me a long time to pay the fees that was small comfort as due to trying to represent my self I lost nearly 50% of the access I had to my daughter prior to getting involved with them. This review is purely an account of my experience and I am not recommending you use them or not. The decision dear reader is yours. Finally despite legal letters promising all sorts of actions from them I’m still giving them one star.

10th Apr 2026 (17 weeks ago)I'd say 1 star is too generous. As stated from numerous other reviews the owner George is a very unpleasant human being. From the very beginning I had issues with the storage heaters not working properly and horrible problems with damp and mould that kept getting ignored and not taken seriously and the solution to this was to keep all windows open all day and night in the height of winter( it was that cold my pipes had frozen) From this George lied to me about the landlord wanting me out of the property yet couldn't provide evidence of this all because he didn't want to take responsibility that his company was failing their basic responsibilities and during this conversation George actively threatened me with violence because I wasn't backing down to his bullying. After stating that I was recording the whole conversation he very quickly changed his tune and wanted to finally try and help but by doing this passed my number onto a central heating company to change over the storage heaters which I was to pay for myself which is ludicrous from a renter. Lastly when I moved out, I had the property cleaned and painted and left items that were already there when I moved in yet tried claiming I had left them and left the property in an unreasonable state especially marks on Walls that were continously having to be cleaned due to black mould, yet never contested giving back the full deposit which shows they were trying to be awkward and difficult for the sake of it. If you can, please stay away from this company.

27th Mar 2026 (19 weeks ago)Kenny was so helpful and empathetic to the fact I was selling my mums house who died recently. He immediately made me feel confident I had chosen the right person. The house was sold in 5 days for the valuation price which was fantastic. He was able to tell me a bit about the family buying the house and it was so comforting for myself and my sister to know it was going to a family who immediately fell in love with the house and were so excited to bring their family up there as mum and dad had done with us. I would highly recommend Kenny and the company to anyone. Thank you so much

5th Jun 2026 (9 weeks ago)I have used Pennylane for a number of years to look after a rented flat and they are by far the best agent I have used. When I decided to sell Christine and Chanice were excellent arranging everything from pictures to survey, dealing with viewings and all with a pleasant and professional manner. Even when we experienced a couple of difficulties they never became negative and strived relentlessly for a solution. The whole company are very professional and I would happily recommend.

28th Jan 2026 (6 mo. ago)Awful experience. Collected money from owners for roof repairs that never happened, then walked away as factor while still holding the funds. Months of chasing for basic answers and a refund timeline. Communication is dismissive and contradictory, and getting a clear breakdown of what’s been spent and what’s being withheld has been like pulling teeth. Would not recommend to anyone.
29th Jul 2026 (6 days ago)Elaine and her team from Arran Estate Agents recently were responsible for selling our beloved home in Arran.They used their specialised knowledge and experience of selling homes on the island to give excellent advice on all aspects of the sale Our home sold very quickly and for the full asking price resulting in a happy buyer and a happy seller.<br>They were effective coordinators and communicators between us and the buyers which was very beneficial.Their service was friendly extremely helpful and professional They went above and beyond.......We cannot recommend them enough. They were a total pleasure to deal with<br>Thank you so much for everything ??

So professional, thorough and talked me through every step - and answered ALL of my questions!<br><br>Photographs of the property were brilliant. David took the time to get to know the property and surrounding area and wrote up a brilliant description of it.<br><br>The flat sold after one day on the market because they know how to make it sought after and sell! David was on top of all communications and steered me through everything.<br><br>Top guys who are passionate and brilliant at their jobs!
