I've decided to give this a one-star rating, or even zero if possible. The agent, Sharone Balarajah, was incredibly rude. It's baffling to me how she even became an agent because she clearly lacks the ability to communicate with clients. Despite my attempts to explain, she was continuously shouting and rude, insisting that everything be done immediately because she was going on annual leave. It's unacceptable for Bernard Marcus Estate Agency to have agents like her, who seem to think they can insult clients. It felt like we were dealing with someone who had no regard for professionalism or basic courtesy. This behavior cannot be overlooked. It's imperative that this individual be confronted and sent for training.

I cannot recommend Barnard Marcus Thornton Heath highly enough, especially Steven, Danny, Natasha, Romael, and Jill. Natasha was the first person we met from the team, and she immediately made a positive impression. When she came over to value our house, she took the time to sit down with me and really understand our reasons for selling and what was important to us. I expressed that we didn't want to feel like just another number, and that it was crucial for the agents to see us as a family, navigating a significant chapter in our lives. Natasha truly understood this and made what could have been a nerve-racking experience feel smooth and calm.
Steven and Danny went to town on the viewings, arranging so many that we had a flood of offers on the house. They even managed to secure offers before the property officially went on the market. Some estate agents promise the world but can’t deliver, but Steven and Danny definitely delivered. Their hard work and dedication were evident throughout the process. I think for me, what stood out the most was we had a viewing and I was working from home. Steven told me that there was a viewing and when the family came over, he asked them to take off their shoes. Genuinely the small details really matter.
Romael was also always on hand, helping to steer us in the right direction whenever we needed guidance. And then there was Jill, our sales progressor, who was absolutely on point. She was quick with information and diligent in chasing any outstanding queries, ensuring that everything moved forward smoothly and efficiently.
Steven, Danny, Natasha, Romael, and Jill we appreciate you all. We can’t thank you enough for all you've done!
If I could give them 10,000 stars, I would! We are finally settled!

I sold my home through Barnard Marcus Thornton Heath in Nov 2023 and their service was amazing. Natasha Dixon done my initial introduction explaining how their process works, there were NO hidden agendas, she was clear about everything and I felt soo comfortable and at ease with her.
Danni Thorpe and Romael Taylor dealt with all my viewings, enquiries and the sale of my property and they were a pleasure to work with. I was going through a divorce at the time and my x husband and I had a big communication breakdown and Danni and Romael showed us such grace and patience - and worked with us whilst going through such a difficult time

I chose Barnard Marcus because they were local to the house I wanted to sell. My main contact was Romael who guided me through the complex process of selling a property. He recommended an excellent solicitor: Taylor-Rose MW. The sale was complex due to a variety of factors; it took nearly 10 months to complete. However Romael and his team kept me informed and offered good advice. When my first buyer took too long to commit, Romael re-listed and found a second successful buyer. I despaired I would ever sell the property but the BM team worked hard to find me a buyer.

I found all the staff at Barnard Marcus extremely friendly, helpful and professional. This is true also of the Progress Team and the solicitors I was appointed. Everyone did a great job and I am extremely grateful to them all.
I am a woman on my own without a clue about how you move house and not very HiTech, but they made my experience of moving stress free because they were so supportive and always able and ready to assist!

These agents will always push the buyer using their own mortgage broker . They will use the offers process to enable their selected buyers (using their mortgage broker) to make the highest offer. They will not then allow the other bidder to come back with a higher offer they will say the property has sold. Their priority is commission from the mortgage broking side of the business. They won't allow buyers to make an offer unless they have been through a financial assesment with their mortgage broker which is basically a pressure selling session.
Do not sell with these agents they cannot be trusted.

Recently sold my place via the Thornton Heath branch. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Natasha did the valuation which was open and honest. Danni organised an open house and a sale was agreed within a few days at really good price. Super efficient. When there were bumps in the road Romael stepped in to smooth things out.

Barnard Marcus is part of Sequence (UK) Limited which again is part of Connells and is a national network of estate agents, with over hundred offices around the country. Have look on Trustpilot real reviews, 1 star for Sequence or Barard Marcus
Just different names: bagshaws residential, barnard marcus , barnfields or fox & sons or william h brown, and many more all same estate.
Still fighting for our deposit months after moving out. The staff is totally incompetent of doing their jobs and the management don't seem to care that they have underskilled staff who mess about with peoples lives. If you’re looking for an agent to rent or maybe to manage out your property my advice would be run away. My deposit has not returned for 2 months and counting, claim or complain is not helping, Thornton Heath branch is useless as one of employees said to me they are too big to fight with, forcefully tactics. Shame treating customers like this.

This is the worst agency we ever dealt with. I could go on and on about how unprofessional and unresponsive these people are.
They ignore your requests/ emails and phone calls.
My experience is on the lettings side. If I could rate them as 0 stars I would. Incompetent to a level that is almost unbelievable. And on top of their incompetence is Anton Harvey - branch manager.
Avoid at all costs, 1 month later and still have no deposit back!!

I was looking to buy a flat and popped in to the Barnard Marcus office from Sutton, where they recommended me a mortgage adviser, thats when I met Rebecca. She gave me an AIP which was better than I've had from a different adviser, so I choosed her services. She helped me to find a good mortgage deal and even recommended me solicitors for my purchase. Very pleased with the service from Bernard Marcus. I mainly dealt with Steven, Shariane and Romael. Steven done most of the viewings followed by Shariane and I would highly recommend both of them as they really put the effort in (we had another agent before them and there was a big difference in their approach to selling). The feedback from the viewings was excellent (which you really really need) and forthcoming rather than you having to chase them for it. We recently rented our place a three bed flat through Barnard Marcus in Thornton heath. Being led to believe they were the biggest and best in the country. They found the tenants quickly enough, supposedly a professional couple.
Within two weeks of them signing the contract, they moved in lots of bunk beds, removed lots of my stuff and put doors in the outdoor sheds. It would appear the new tenants are subletting to multiple persons.
BM have taken their fee upfront ( full management). It has now been two months plus and we still have not received a penny. Having tried most agents in the area over the past 22 years, this is our worst experience to date and is ongoing.
I was asked by Roneil and Gareth to submit this review one week after the tenants moved in. I am glad I waited as I would have written a glowing one at that time. However in all honesty I cannot recommend BM anymore.

Called this morning again and was abrubptly informed that they were in a morning meeting could I leave my name for a callback. I told them I was unhappy doing this as nobody called back last time. I asked when the meeting would end so that I could call back then. But the member of staff said she couldn't give me a time or any idea of when the meeting would end. I hope the meeting was focussed on customer service...

So far absolutely useless. I am a genuinely interested house buyer but they're not interested in selling houses. Wasted a lot of my time. I rang a few weeks back enquiring about houses. They said they would send me any suitable properties, and also get their mortgage advisor to ring me at a specific time and date. I rearranged my day to take the call but it never came. I also rang several times to speak to the lettings agent. No one ever answered the phone or returned my voice messages. I then get a call about a potentially suitable property, saying it was urgent I see it, as spaces were filling up. So the next day I respond to arrange a viewing. Guess what, out of office. Ok fine. They have a redirect to another member of the team. Fire off another email. Guess what, out of office. On a weekday by the way. These guys are a joke. Steer clear

I had a viewing that I confirmed twice and after waiting more than 15 minutes in front of the house and calling all the numbers of the agency that I had they answered saying that the viewing was cancelled. They didn't send an email or a text and they told me at the phone that it wasn't their fault. After checking on the website he property resulted as let.

Phoned to enquire on two for properties for sale with boards up, which were not on their website. Was told all staff were in a meeting. Phoned back in the afternoon and was told they were all too busy to talk to me, would call me back. I was speaking to the lettings person who could not help. Eventually got to speak to someone who said the two properties were not available and the boards were up in error. He could not help as they had too much work to do, due to just coming back after Christmas holidays, staff shortage and sickness. Whilst I appreciate this is a busy period the best thing would be to update the website and remove the boards then I would not have needed to trouble the office at all.

I never ever write reviews but the experience I had with Barnard Marcus was too good for me not to share. I have moved a total of 4 times with different agencies and my experiences with those have not been great, I always end up chasing them up or feel as though they are not helpful. My agent with Barnard Marcus was Ronneil, he was amazing. He was so quick with everything, patient (I ask a LOT of questions) and extremely helpful I’m so impressed with how easy he made the whole process and really appreciated all his updates with everything!! Couldn’t have asked for a better agent you can really tell he loves his job. Person who answered the call immediately said apartments are ALL taken, not bothered to help much, I informed there are 4 properties in a particular area on right to move as you speak, apparently their properties gets taken very quickly and right to move is not up to date. (what a waste of time). She was like o yea we might have one single bed still available but may have gone by now and got my details to check with landlord and get back to me. never got back. called a few days after no details on the system. Another not bothered woman answered & got all the details. line kept breaking and she was like it's your line not working and cut the line. No call back. called again and she for the third time confirmed my salary and arranged a viewing. one hour before viewing- no we can't get access to the property can't do today. call back when we can.

Awful company specifically romael and Steven. So unprofessional, no care at all for its customers. The house i was buying fell through and not once did any one check in 2 hours before completion. Once you pay them the money they are not interested at all. Go with anyone else they will not look after you. They only care about themselves. They will not check in with you and will avoid your emails and calls. Avoid like the plague... if i could give them minus 10 i would. I will never use Barnard Marcus again nor recommend.

An absolutely awful branch of Barnard Marcus and gives the whole company a bad name!
As a buyer you should avoid at all cost, they will lie and cheat you and be boastful that they did so.
Alongside they are super unresponsive to emails and never return your calls, they will also blame you for not responding. According to these ‘experts’ 3 weeks is too long in a global pandemic to secure a mortgage, even though you can’t get an appointment for 4 weeks from application and banks are constantly changing their criteria.
They put properties back on the market whilst you are in the middle of purchasing them without even telling you and are super happy with themselves when they cause everything to fall through, so close to the completion.
The worst of them all is Romael, who is there residential sales manager, who is literally the rudest most arrogant person you will ever have dealings with. He does not know how to interact with other human beings or even how to relay bad news that he has caused. In fact he thinks he is doing a wonderful job messing with people and has no remorse what so ever- In his words “ I have no obligation to you ( buyer) only the seller, and I have done a great job as I have got them more money.” No apologies, no communication, literally has no compassion whatsoever.
Stay well clear of them as they are sneaky scammers, who have no problem stabbing you in the back, whilst they laugh.

Sharone,the mortgage broker in the Thornton heath office is amazing, I had issues with my mortgage from another company,Sharony took over and worked wonders and got me a mortgage with a different lender which also saved me so much money on my monthly payments,communication was amazing with her and she gave me regular updates throughout,she took all the stress away from me and my wife. Would definitely suggest everyone go see her

Awful service and extremely rude and insulting agents. They mislead about getting back to you with more information and when you call back and ask for details they very rudely refuse to talk to you. Poor work ethic and absent customer service. Not worth purchasing a property through those people as you can't trust them.

Not good service at all and neither friendly. They book your appointment without even confirming with u and if u miss the appointment then they will blame you. The sold houses are there on their website for sale even-though they are sold 2 months ago, completely misleading and unhelpful.

Absolutely incompetent and shocked in the mess up of a deposit. As a tenant, things were not done clearly from the beginning, and it took ages to find out, what happened to our deposit (finally got resolved in the end). But all the notes on the system, about the deposit was unclear for a very long time.
Even the landlord fully agrees that Barnard Marcus was an awful estate agency to deal with.
Agreement and referencing fees are a joke: £340 as a tenant, and triple that as a landlord.
Stay far away.

My flat has been up for sale for approximately 18 months and because of the economic climate selling the property has been difficult. I thought it would be appropriate to write and inform you of my personal experience with Barnard Marcus. From the start I found the team very helpful and polite, they arranged a booking for me and the estate agent was very professional. That property was not for me but they suggested a second property which was perfect. I would say realistically price wise the perfect property for me. I viewed this property twice with Steven, he was excellent throughout, great knowledge very reliable and the perfect estate agent, Steven was always on hand to provided assistance thought the process. Steven was very flexible, it is very difficult for me to find time around work but Steven always found time for me even when I gave him very little notice. The process all in all went though very quickly and stress free, overall the service was exceptional and I am very happy with the service provided to me. My highlight of the experience, is most definitely the support provided by Steven as a first time buyer, I thought I would find it quiet difficult but Steven along with the rest of the staff at Barnard Marcus proved me wrong.Thank you to all who helped me buy my beautiful house.

I went with Barnard Marcus (Thornton Heath office) for the full service (mortgage, purchase, letting with full management).
The staff is really knowledgeable, helpful and have some top level organizing skills which was really needed as at some point through the process I was abroad, but fortunately resolved all issues with ease.
I cannot recommend them enough, they are the best in their area!!

Being new to London I was obviously very scared about London's property prices and how to go about renting. Having no clue in how to start off I managed to find Barnard Marcus and their employee Esteban. In short my experience was great! Esteban went above and beyond to explain everything to me within the contract clauses, he was patient enough to allow me to get settled at my new work place first. Very negative experience. Arranged a viewing for 12.30 with them. Came at 12.35. There was noone at the place. Called at the agency - told me they will check. Noone called back. So I called them again in 10min. Told me the agent was at the place at 12.30 and already left, and noone will come.
Very disappointed with an attitude. Don’t recommend them unless you are ready for bad organisation with bad attitude to clients.
