Just completed a purchase through Connells in Amesbury.
Very good agents, the only thing I would say is that communication, and answering emails promptly, could be improved.
I usually had to contact them for info.
The same applied to their preferred conveyancing solicitors, Conveyancing Direct.
A short phone call fortnightly would suffice and keep most customers happy.

Really pleased with the service we have received from Connells in Amesbury. Demitri, the Mortgage Services Manager, has been exceptionally helpful. Put an offer in on a house with Connells and we were told we needed to come in branch for a discussion about the mortgage. Despite advising them that we already had a broker, we were effectively harassed into using theirs and told we wouldn’t get the house if we didn’t use their in-house broker (for a fee, of course).
We went through an hour-long meeting only to be told at the end that an older woman had put in a cash offer and we were very unlikely to get the house. The mortgage broker told us how much she was offering and we were then cajoled into upping our offer (and made to do so by being stood in front of the agent like school children), but still didn’t get it - I think they were always going to advise going for the cash offer (which is fair enough), but just wanted to use us to up the price.
We were then subjected to frequent phone calls asking us to keep looking for houses with them, despite my partner repeatedly telling them we had stopped looking for the time being.
It’s all for the best as we found a house with a great agent, but the whole experience has completely put me and my partner off even looking at a house with Connells again.
Edited to reflect response from Connells: both points made in the response were already addressed in the original review; we were made aware there was another interested party, but only after sitting through an hour-long meeting during which there was no mention of our slim chance until the very end, and we were pressured to drop our current mortgage adviser and agree to sign on with Connells’ as it would ostensibly better our chances of having our offer accepted.
I also appreciate the vendors make the final decision on the buyer (and, as aforementioned, can understand why they would opt for a cash buyer), but to imply the agent has no influence is untrue. We effectively felt like pawns coerced into upping our offer with false hope in order to get an increased offer from the cash buyer, which is what happened.
These things do happen, and we had already had a purchase fall through so we are acutely aware of that, but the way it was handled by Connells was sub-par. This is not the isolated experience implied, as several people we have discussed this with since (some of whom work in allied occupations) have said that poor service is standard for Connells as a whole, and there is a review before mine touching on a similar experience with your mortgage advice.

Disgusting and vile company. Don't think customer service is in these guys vocabulary. Initiating a screaming match and slagging other agents off because I wanted to remove my details from their system. Far from professional.
Whispers to vendors about all these wonderful potential offers, what offers? The offers they are making up perhaps for a house thats been on the market for 4 months and had to bring in another agent to get it sold.
Tanked our offer by initiating conversations with the vendor in regards to offers that weren't proceedable, if they aren't proceedable they aren't an offer... when pulled up on it states thay haven't spoken to the vendor for 3 weeks! Not only is that 100% false but saying you haven't spoken to a vendor for that amount of time when you are trying to sell their house is awful!
Absolute shambles of a company, would never want to put any money into their pockets.
Update: despite me asking multiple times to remove my details from their records I have now had the branch manager phone me to make comments about this review. Fantastic to see the lack of professionalism is still very apparent

The team at Connells Amesbury have all been excellent. After our initial enquiry, Mike gave an accurate idea of pricing and invaluable advice on how best to market the property and what needed doing beforehand, followed by regular updates on the sale and advice when problems arose. The rest of the team (Savannah, Matt and Will) have also been excellent as they coordinated an open day, arranged multiple viewings and ensured potential buyers could view the property when required. Altho the initial sale fell through (not due to an estate agent problem), in both cases they found a buyer within 2 weeks of the property going on the market. Thank you for all your help, expertise and professionalism as I negotiated my way through this complex sale of my father’s house, and speedy response to questions via email or phone.

Mike stands out as a service provider who actually delivers. He is efficient and constantly goes above and beyond what might be expected from an agent by for example conducting viewings at unsociable hours if required. His knowledge of the local market is spot on and he gave us excellent advice about the price we could realistically expect for our properties. He made the most of a difficult selling environment and we now have two sale agreements in place which are entirely due to his hands on approach.

Great experience with Connells. Savannah, Mike and Matt were all kind and helpful throughout the process of buying my first home.
One instance of this was when I got asked about getting the property I was buying surveyed. Due to my lack of experience it was heavily recommended that I get one done, so I agreed and booked it in. The following day, I received a call from Mike who advised me that he didn't think this was required, as the flat wasn't that old and I would be better off saving the money.
If I hadn't have received that phone call, I would have just gone ahead and dropped near to £600 on something that wasn't necessary!

We were met by Mike Holland with a warm welcome. Having shared our details, Mike very kindly showed us a superb property, not yet advertised and immediately arranged a viewing. Unfortunately it wasn't suitable. Mike very kindly arranged another viewing at short notice. He met us at the property after his end of day and showed us round separately, as we have 2 dogs. The second property was perfect for us and we placed an offer to Mike on our way home.
The following day (Sunday) we had a phone call from Mike to congratulate us on the acceptance of our offer. Connells Estate Agents: A Disastrous Experience - From Inadequate Communication to Complete Disengagement in Sales Progression
We are extremely disappointed with the services provided by Connells Estate Agents. They consistently fell far below the expectations we had set, particularly in terms of communication. The lack of communication was evident from the very beginning, especially when it came to coordinating property viewings which included informing us of when viewing were and also when the agents left the property - a crucial aspect of the selling process. This lack of attention to detail extended to their poor efforts in generating interest during the initial stages, largely due to the open house strategy that did not yield the expected results.
What added to our frustration was their unprofessional behavior and negative attitude. Not only did Connells Estate Agents fail to deliver to their “commitment to delivering the highest levels of customer service”, but they also engaged in bad-mouthing other estate agents in the area. This kind of behavior is not only unbecoming of a professional agency, but it also raises concerns about their integrity and values.
Moreover, when we raised our initial complaints about their services, Connells Estate Agents dismissed our concerns rather than addressing them, displaying a disappointing lack of accountability and understanding.
To make matters worse, the behavior of the estate agents was both rude and aggressive, as reported by our buyers. It's disheartening to know that the house's success in selling had more to do with its own merits as described to us by third parties in the chain rather than the efforts of the estate agents. As customers, we were left with no choice but to seek assistance from other estate agents within our chain and our solicitors to navigate through the process.
Moreover, Connells completely disengaged after the sale post offer acceptance refusing to participate in the sales progression. The next time we heard from them was the day we were moving out when they asked for the keys and, shockingly six days after the completion date when they requested more money. This indifference and lack of involvement were noted not only by us but also by various parties in the chain, including other clients and agents representing them. Connells claimed they don't get involved in sales progression, which contradicted the proactive approach taken by all other estate agents involved, leaving our solicitors in disbelief at their response. We ended up receiving better advice, information and guidance from another Estate Agents involved with the chain.
If we had the time and energy after such a lengthy process, we would have seriously considered disputing their charges. In our opinion and in the opinion of some of the other parties involved in the transaction, Connells Estate Agents' service was severely lacking. However, it's a relief not to have to deal with them again. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend that others avoid working with Connells Estate Agents. Their level of professionalism and care was clearly insufficient, and we hope that our feedback prompts them to make significant improvements to their services.

Worse service, it’s a joke. They told me I had to go with their in-house mortgage advisor only if I want to get the house. They charged me nearly £1000 for nothing. Time pressure to make payments and once your money is gone it’s not coming back ever. My friend had similar issues with Connells when she was renting. This is no less than a scam, people working here at not transparent. They will just do anything to charge you no matter what only because they made a couple of calls to you.

We booked an appointment with their Residential Sales Manager, Jose Gama, who came out to visit us and walk us through his sales process and how he would personally look after us at all stages of the process. We were pleasantly surprised by his friendly positive manner and his professionalism. He is definitely a people person. Not the usual forced sales spiel given to us by other Estate Agents that we had experienced just to get us on their books. There was no pressure put upon us at all and Jose just asked that we let him do his job. Within a week or so Jose had sold our house for us and he took care of the sales process from start to finish. He is extremely hard working and he gave us a professional friendly service and above that, he is a genuinely lovely man. If we were to buy or sell a property again in the future and Jose was available, he would be our first choice. He is a major asset to Connells at Beggarwood. Truly dreadful. Charged over £4k and did almost nothing to advise and support us. The agent showed no understanding of the needs of an elderly client, and no relationship building skills. There was no sense of urgency and other professionals involved felt he lacked basic understanding of the process. Did not even return phone calls. He has now been promoted and emailed to say he was leaving with immediate effect, without even giving a new agent's name. Unbelievable!

He was punctual, polite, professional abs within minutes felt we have known for years..
He had a great knowledge of the area, schools and local amenities and a truly lovely man.

Great service from Connells when recently selling our house. Mike talked us through the process and prices. House was on the market extremely quickly, he even came and took his own photos (so as to not hold us up waiting for the professional). Offer received and accepted within 48hrs.
Problems at the very bottom of the chain slowed things up, but Mike and Ella worked hard to liaise with all members of the chain to help clear things up and get an exchange.

We were looking for a new house to purchase as we had sold our house. Hence, embarking on the usual routine of trawling through Rightmove and calling 'reactive' estate agents that only seem to answer questions on the property of interest and then that's pretty much it ... my thinking would be that here is someone that is definitely going to buy something ... a salesman's dream in a way, not in this country it seems, maybe actually selling a house is not what Estate Agent do I guess ... UNTIL, I called Connells in Amesbury and spoke to Jose Gama, what a revelation !! this person actually took the responsibility of finding us a house !!, he work so hard to find us the right house after understanding exactly what we wanted, showed us many houses without reservation, and eventually showed us a house we would of never considered, and then purchased. We are so happy with the purchase and absolutely love it.
Well done to Jose for being so professional, working hard for the customer, and restoring my faith.

The only saving grace for connells in Amesbury is Ella, she is friendly and easy to communicate with.
But that's where the good points to this branch ends. I found the manager completely patronising, condescending and to be honest rude. I've not heard one positive thing about this branch but unfortunately the house we wanted was being sold by them so had no little choice. They not only lived up to my low expectations but exceeded them. Would not recommend

Nothing but good things to say as a buyer. I was recommended by a friend who had recently gone through connels and I was not disappointed. Ella from the sales team was very knowledgeable about all the properties we viewed with her, showed us around, then gave us time to explore on or own. We didn't feel rushed or preasured into anything. Chawley the in branch morgage advisor was also fantastic. Explained everything to us in plain English in a way that was easy to understand as some of the financial jargon can be very confusing. I always left feeling confident that I knew what was happening, when, and that we could still live comfortably afterwards. Nothing was to much hassle for them even all my stupid questions (and I had a lot). I don't think I could fault the service we received if I tried. Outstanding team!

Having seen Amesbury Connells sell a similar property to ours in our road last year fairly promptly we decided to invite them round to to view our property when we were ready to sell.
From Mike's first visit, to receiving the great set of details with stunning photos, to receiving genuinely interested buyers in the first week of marketing, to getting exchange of contracts with a completion date agreed inside three months is more than you could ask from any estate agent in today's market.
Ella kept us fully informed along the way once we were happy with the price agreed with the buyer.

Fantastic mortgage adviser!! After my repeated trips to Halifax which were long, unhelpful, interrogative and resulted in limited options in terms of mortgage products to choose from. It was a miracle to find Chawley, he was so helpful and only willing to keep questions to a minimum and explain all your options and had such a great range of products to hand. The products range covered all the main banks and building society lenders on the high street and less well known ones you would otherwise have to research yourself. I was sceptical of the £99 admin charge at first but actually when you look at the cost savings they can offer it pales in comparison and is well worth the cost in finding a good vslue mortgage. I’ve since recommended to a close friend and family member to pay him a visit as they’re now looking to buy their first home.

My sale was slightly more complicated due to a divorce but Connells worked fantastically, keeping communication open and all parties up to date. We rented out our flat with Connells leasing and when it came time to sell we chose their estate agent who has been very responsive and positive. Confronted with options of online estate agents Jay argued well for a traditional agency. This has proven to be a great decision as quite a lot of communication has been necessary between ourselves, both solicitors and the buyer. A sale was agreed within a couple of weeks and only issues outside of everyones control has delayed things a bit.
It has been a stress free experience. Selling a house is always going to be difficult Connells Amesbury have made it quite a smooth operation.

The worst estate agent I have ever known. Please take my advice and go else where, DO NOT TRY AND SELL YOUR HOUSE THROUGH THEM.
The make sure you sign the contract with them at their premises which means you cannot take advantage of the 14 day get out clause. They dont tell you the contract is a 26 week contract either. The fees are extortionate as well. They take on too many houses so when you ring up to get an update, which by the way is the only way you will find anything out as they will never ring you to Let you know what is happening, they do not know who you are or any details about you. Not personal at all. They proved this by posting a business card through our door, claiming they could sell our house less than a week after we finally managed to terminate the contract with them. 2 viewings in 4 months they gave us. Total lack of communication, no updates and no new ideas of how they could try and sell our house. Their financial advisor in Amesbury is a really nice guy and if you did need any advice I would recommend him, but not the sales team. Such an awful experience from start to finish and has totally put us off trying to sell our house. Please take my advice and go else where. There are plenty of better estate agents out there that will provide you a much better and more personal experience!
