Bought a Park home from Connells Rushden and after price was agreed Kelly told me what ever was in the Park home when I viewed would be there when I moved in , 5 months later I paid for the Park home and was given a key , Kelly wasn't in the office so a young lady called Grace gave me the key and told me the other keys would be in the Park home . I opened the front door to the Park home and was SHOCKED to see the sofa and 2 arm chairs had been removed the the living room was completely empty , walked into the kitchen and the cooker , fridge freezer, , washing machine and tumble dryer had all been removed . There was no sign of the other keys so I phoned Grace to express my disgust about items being removed and to ask about the keys . Minutes later the vendor turned up with the keys , the vendor told me Kelly had told her a week earlier that I was moving in on the 17th Dec and everything MUST be removed from the Park home before that date . The vendor told me she would have been more than happy to leave everything in the Park home ( Park home was vacant due to vendors Father passing away ) and it was a great inconvenience for her to have everything removed . Because I'd left everything in the house I'd just sold I had no furniture , white goods or cooker Kelly phoned me the next day and her attitude was Tough it wasn't down in writing so there's nothing you can do about it Mr Roe ! ! ! Would NEVER buy from CONNELLS again and definitely would NOT recommend them , Kelly comes across as very blunt and has a " I'm always right and I know better than you " attitude .... Read more

Tried to sell our house through Purple Bricks at first and not managed to find a buyer for about a year. Then decided to put it onto the market with Connells as well and managed to sell within a few months. Received great service from everyone at the Rushden branch. Always felt supported and Kelly really came out of her way to make sure things go smoothly with our buyer and even our seller (who sold with a different estate agent). Never buy from this Estate Agent ! After viewing a property and putting in an offer which was accepted. I advised the agent that I already had my mortgage and Conveyancing in place and as my offer have been accepted I instructed them to proceed with the purchase. I was then contacted by their mortgage consultant who tried to sell me a mortgage with them. I declined and said I already had a mortgage arranged through another adviser and had instructed them to start the process to proceed with the purchase. The next morning the agent phoned me to say they had received another offer (which was the same as my offer ) and would proceed with that offer instead of mine. They also advised me that they had contacted my mortgage broker and told them not proceed with the mortgage for me. We have since discovered that the other purchaser is in a chain whilst we do not have a house to sell. This amounts to sharp practice because I would not use their mortgage advisor. I wasn’t aware that when buying a property through an Estate Agent you have to be dictated to by them as you who you should use to get you mortgage and if you did not obey their rules you would be excluded from the purchase of the property. I then spoke to David in Connells office who was very rude and ended up putting the phone down on me. He blamed his manager for taking the other offer. Absolute disgraceful and unethical and we will never use or buy a property through this agent again.... Read more

I first contacted Connells when I was interested in viewing a property with them. The first viewing went smoothly and I decided i’d like a second viewing - to which I was told the vendor wouldn’t allow me to look again unless I went through Connells mortgages and proved I could afford it. (I’m a young, single female so obviously in their eyes I was probably a time waster). So I told them I was very interested in the property but to forget it. I then received a phone call back 10 minutes later to advise me the vendor had apparently changed his mind and would let me view it again. I put an offer on the house and told it was an ‘acceptable offer’ but i’d need to see their mortgage advisor first. So i popped into the branch and saw him straight away, when he looked at my payslip he said ‘oh yes that is a decent wage’ as if He was surprised I could actually afford it. Anyway, the offer was accepted and I was then told they wouldn’t take the house off the market without a Decision in Principle from the bank, which they could ‘happily push through now’ for me. I politely declined as i’d told them all along I would be sticking with my current mortgage. In which they tried their bullying tactics of ‘well you wont get that sorted now on a Friday afternoon before the weekend so we’ll have to continue with the weekend viewings and it’s likely to sell’. I told them they could do what they liked as it wasn’t my house to say otherwise. Anyway, 30 minutes later I phoned back with a Decision in Principle from the bank in which I spoke to the delightful Kelly, who seemed less than pleased their tactics hadn’t worked and was then advised by her that they’d only take it off the market with a solicitor’s name too, followed by a lengthy lecture on how amazing their own solicitors were. This was at 5pm on a Friday so she knew I’d struggle to get hold of anyone else. I hung up and called back 5 minutes later with a solicitor’s name i’d used before. I then had to go in with my passport on the Saturday and when I asked as to why the house for still for sale in the window, she was less than polite. Cut forward to going to pick up the keys, the office was empty apart from my estate agent and Kelly, who refused to even look at me or make eye contact with me, never mind congratulate me on my new purchase from them. Obviously thought i’d be a shoo-in for a boost to their monthly commission targets. Oh and to top it off, later in the process I found out the home had been part exchanged for a new build and the so called ‘Vendor’ who refused my 2nd viewing initially, was actually none the wiser. My experience with Connells was one of speed, I found a property on right move and decided to view. I contacted Connells and the viewing was arranged for 2 days later. After seeing the property I put in an offer and it was accepted. I used the in house mortgage broker as I am a lifetime member and everything went smoothly and quickly. Just had their solicitors call to tell me I no longer had my property on with Connells, but did i want to still use them. In the two weeks i have been with Connells i have had no viewings and their sign board is in my front garden, no wonder no viewings if their solicitors think i have taken it off the market, they could only have got their info from Connells staff. I'm happy to take the sign down and they can pick it up. From 5.30pm no answer from their shop number. Go figure!... Read more

Put house up with them as we purchased through them.but this time we had a completely different experience,the guy came around promised a lot, got us to pay for a new energy rating ,even though we still had a valid one,and got us to pay for a professional photographer to take photos ,which would look better, but they would be ours to keep. We have never been allowed the rights to the photos. We were asked how would we word / phrase our house,it is quirky. We were told there is an 18 year old starting and she might have new ideas on how to sell our house. Surely your the experiencied estate agent. Clearly not. Never had a viewing. Seems only negative comments and no one has bothered with the positive. As a BUYER I found dealing with Connells an actual pleasure - always happy to help and despite issues with the purchase they stayed on top of everyone involved and pushed to get completion through as quickly as was possible. There are always so many moving parts in every move and keeping everyone in tow is always a challenge even when it's not your job, yet the team at Connells did strive to do everything they could to remove any barriers they could - a shame there were 3 sets of solicitors playing slow coach but we got there. Pathetic service, TWENTY SIX week sole mandate (average is SIX), administration fees DOUBLE local highstreet that IS negotiatable showing how many people they take advantage of, making you pay for photos before you sell (aka if they don't sell, they keep your money). The worst Estate Agent I had ever dealt as A buyer!!! Can even rate them with 1 star! Very poor service! Started process of buying a property through them! Lost time and money! Gave more stress than happiness!! House clearly has a problems with a dump there reports were required and has been overpriced!! From beginning was making lots of false information such as the value of the house, pushing to go through their mortgage adviser, all about the seller and buyer interests not important...in the end didn'tsell the house for us because we refused to go through their mortgage adviser who taking full fees in advance with no guarantee and no refund if fail at any stage of buying!!!!
