I am in a unique position to write this review as I rented last year with Martin & Co and am in process of buying a house with them as well. Very professional and responsive, sorted out every glitch in time - fixed overflow pipe leak in less than 12 hours, replaced dishwasher within a week. Their use of propertyfile portal is very helpful, supereasy to find all your rental documents, deposits, repair log and property visits in one place.
Lee Howarth was brilliant in showing us around the house to buy and also arranged a follow up visit in no time. Appreciate his ex-Army discipline and ethics. Highly recommend and wish them all the best for the future!

FROM 5 STARS TO 1...and I'm being nice...
Absolutely utterly awful.
We've been with Martin and Co for few years.
Moved to the house on Broad Street, Truro.
The house was redecorated by it's owners, so wasn't all professionally painted..but anyway... we got the house, monthly payment 1040£, after few months, we've notices that the wall in the dining room is...falling off... literally.
In the lounge paint stared peeling off after few weeks...
Contacted the agency, nothing was sorted for months... the part of the wall fell off...
we had heading non stop and the house was airy all the time.../ month and months later, the price went 20f up( nothing fixed) dining room was useless...
Several leeks from the roof and the ceiling, that have never been fixed, and added even more to the wall damage.
Yet..we were patient. The wall.was never properly finished, no treatment,nothing..after the walls dried they started crumbling again...
Everything was diy and poorly done, we wanted to paint the house, owner agreed. We've sterted painting the house, all Farrow& Ball to find out that the house is on sale...
At the same time, still hoping that the agency will fix the wall, the ceiling, and leeks..nothing..
The oven was so old the door broke and burned my hand. Informed the agency, they've been over many times- checking the house and the boiler- which was constantly broken, because they didn't want to fix it.
After 4-6months the door from the oven wasn't fixed.
The old toilet system (thank god, we had 3bathrooms) was broken-informed the agency, spoke to a plumber - for 3-4months no one came!! which by law is illegal for the agency not to fix the toilet!
Still...we were patient.
House was sold, ...we didn't finish the painting, started taking off paint in the bathroom...
Anyway..now... The house is going to a new owner, who is demolishing the kitchen, wall between the dining room and the lounge and everything else... - they've agreed we don't need to paint anything, agency confirmed by email.
Now, moved out few days ago- cleaned everything, even hired the carpet cleaner as Will told us(agent) threatening there might not be a deposit back...
Got a report today- and apparently EVERY SINGLE THING THAT WE'VE TOLD THE AGENCY, THAT NEEDS FIXING, OR THAT WAS THERE WHEN WE'VE MOVED IN OR HAPPENED DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY OF BUILDING ...WAS OUR FAULT...AND WE WON'T BE GETTING OUR DEPOSIT BACK...Will knowing our cleaning guy comes on Monday at 3pm sent someone to check the house at 11...
we've left the bins recycling in recycling bags and everything in black bags for bin collection today..
yet, the report says we've left loads of rubbish...
We've even hired a skip months ago, go get rid of the previous owners junk from the attic and shed...and we've left things that were there..yet... still our fault...
Martin and Co is a disgrace, absolute disgrace.
When Julie was there it was far more decent agency, but Will, along with Jamie are utterly unprosfessional, and try to avoid email conversations, because that way they can cover up for they neglected

Will and his team quickly found us good tenants for our Truro house a few years ago and managed the let whilst we were living first in London and then in Mumbai. Always helpful and on the ball, they were particularly great when we sold the property. It is quite stressful having to serve notice on tenants and then arrange a sale from a distance but every little thing we asked them to arrange and fix was done in a timely fashion. This is a superb property rental and sale firm. Although I write from the perspective of a landlord, I am sure the same applies for a tenant. They have been scrupulous in finding the right tenant for properties, always carry out thorough checks, ensure the property complies with the regulatory requirements, prepare first class Agreements, give clear and straightforward advice and answer any query promptly. A special mention for Julie and Will and as well for Leanne who is responsible for drafting the Agreements. She provides an excellent service which many Solicitors would struggle to match. I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews for Martin & Co Truro as our experience so far has been excellent. My partner and I moved from overseas and needed a furnished place. After visiting a fantastic flat and going to the Martin & Co office later that afternoon to say we'd take it, our hearts were racing when we went in and heard our estate agent Julie on the phone to someone in London interested in the same flat. As she knew we were so interested in the flat she stalled the person and suggested other properties would better. When he didn't relent she eventually told him that we had walked in, that we had taken the time to visit the property so wanted to give us first option on it. Even when he offered to "double what they're paying" to take it off the market, she refused. We're really happy with our place and after hearing just how tough it is to get a well-furnished place in Truro, we are so thankful that she did this for us! Hopefully the service continues to be excellent all the way through until after ending our lease.

As a 19 year old looking for my first place to live the staff were extremely supportive and understanding of my nerves and little knowledge of what I was meant to be doing. The explained what i needed to do and also helped my understand how I worked out where I could afford there was never any pressure to go for something for a quick rent. As landlords we first came to Martin & Co when services from a previous agent in Truro became intolerable. We are 110% pleased with our decision to go with Will and his team.
We look for two things in a letting agent, each as important as the other; Obviously we need quality tenants and as few voids as possible. Will and his staff are very responsive to requests and work with efficiency and courtesy.
Equally important to us is that our tenants are treated well and with respect, and that any requests they have are dealt with promptly. The feedback we have had from our tenants has been entirely positive.
All in all we recommend Martin & Co in Truro without reservation. They are a great team to have on side!

Lack of information viewing with hidden fees. Empathy is completely unknown to them and you can expect to ping incorrectly completed documentation back to them and query various different fee quotations.

I met with Will Gentle of Martin & Co when looking for a flat to rent. I booked an appointment and was duly met at the appointed time to view a property on their books. The flat was as described in their literature and a tenancy agreements was arranged. All documentation was processed in a timely manner and without any complications. The handover of the property was completed without any fuss or trouble. The office staff complimented the excellent service I received. I have read the comments of some negative reviews and can only assume that Martin and Co have acted upon these and eradicated any problems, as I cannot fault the service I received. I would not hesitate to recommend Martin and Co to others.

As landlords we have found Martin & Co efficient, approachable, competent and friendly. Having experience of another "letting agent" they do not have hidden charges. The service has been professional and they have been very reliable and nothing has been too much trouble. Our tenants have been satisfied with the service received unlike the complaints we received over our previous "agent". From our experience we would recommend Martin & Co Truro without hesitation.

Martin & Co have been excellent - we have received quick responses to all of our emails, repair work has been done within 24-48 hours and the moving in process was very smooth. Over all a great letting agent who offer a high standard of service.

Having found ourselves in a situation requiring a rapid move into rented accommodation and having been informed that it was not possible within the time scale required by other rental agents we were starting to despair. However we found Martin & Co to be remarkably efficient and were able to complete the relevant documentation and arrange everything with days to spare, which then gave us plenty of time to prepare.
The staff were very helpful and kept us informed throughout the whole process and the experience was great and the service fantastic.

The nicest thing that I can say about Martin & Co is that they are rude, unhelpful and incompetent. They forget to send papers, they do not respond to e-mails, they do not take the trouble to learn about the property that they are letting and they do not carry out a proper handover to new tenants. Also be aware that they are inclined to close the office during their stated opening hours which can result in a wasted journey.
If you are a tenant then you have little choice but if you are a landlord then I would advise looking elsewhere.
