We recently went through the letting process with Martyn Gerrard for a property they advertised and overall it has been a seamless process with our agent Irfan being a good example of what you want from a letting agent.
Looking for rental properties in London is generally an absolutely horrendous experience and as a prospective tenant you often feel like you are being milked for every penny by a letting agent that also provides you the bare minimum in return.
In our experience Irfan and Martyn Gerrard actually paid attention to our bio and used this to make sure the landlord felt like they were finding the perfect match for their property. At the same time the tendering process did not become a bidding war and was very fair.
From this point onwards the paperwork and formalities post acceptance has been relatively straightforward. We are now two weeks post viewing the property and we are already all set to move in with everything completed, highlighting Martyn Gerrard's and Irfan's efficiency.
The only part of the process which left my partner and I a little unsettled was naturally during the signing and payment of the deposit. The race to get the deposit paid to secure the property (despite paying a holding deposit) made us feel a little bit rushed when signing the tenancy agreement. For letting in London it seems like this is the nature of the beast and Martyn Gerrard make it easy with a very slick online process and good communication via WhatsApp but a little bit more handholding during the sensitive money and signing process would have made their service truly stand out compared to everyone else.

Sold my flat in the area. Still being hounded by them a couple of times a year. Either asking if I’m still looking to sell or if I’m still looking to buy. Or as the most recent voicemail goes, “was I still looking to rent it”. I never rented the flat, or intended to. And it was sold, 18 months ago. I have asked several times to be removed from their database, which I was told would happen. But has clearly not. Illegal breach of GDPR right there. I’d already blocked one of their numbers but somehow they’ve got through again. Next time I hear from them I will be reporting them for GDPR misuse. Estate Agents!!!

Estate agent messed up the viewing TWICE for the same property, both times they just didn't show up as agreed, second time we managed to get someone to come but they weren't able to access the property as they had the wrong keys or the lock was broken. They've ignored every email we've sent them, including an offer on a property. Nice people but abysmal to deal with and impossible to contact as a tenant (funnily enough the lines for landlords and sales are always open..)

Martyn Gerrard Estate Agents satisfactorily managed the flat I let for many years. So when it became necessary for me to sell the property, I asked the Crouch End branch to deal with the matter. I believe I got good advice and they certainly made every effort to get a sale for me. Treon Johnson arranged numerous viewings and eventually found buyers who seem very well suited to the property. The legal aspects of the sale became unusually complicated, but Treon did an exceptional job and helped to keep everything on track, leading eventually to a satisfactory completion. He liaised between the buyers and me and followed up matters with the solicitors, and always managed to be positive and good humoured even when things seemed to be going wrong. Importantly, he telephoned frequently with updates so that no-one was left in doubt for long about what stage the transaction had reached.
All in all, my association with Martyn Gerrard over many years has been a very positive one.

I've used Martyn Gerrard a few times over the last 10 years. Initially to look for places to buy in Crouch End, and most recently for a sale. They've always been professional in all aspects of their work. Most recently, James, Arzu and the team worked really hard, for a year, to sell my place in a really volatile and difficult environment. After agreeing the sale, they then stayed on top of the conveyancing. That dragged on for a protracted period due to various reasons but MG stayed on top of the transaction throughout. Exchange was finally pushed over the line. I'm not sure I would have sold, and completed, in these circumstances with another agent.

For me there was no question of using anyone else as we had originally bought the property using them so have seen it from both sides - and they are fantastic. They know the local market, are friendly and engaging - you feel that you are in good hands and that they will find the right buyers. In particular, Abby was great at organising things and keeping us up to date at every stage of the process by email and phone - I didn't need to chase anything - making it a pleasant experience from beginning to end. Found a listing on Zoopla by this company, got in touch with them and told them to either email me the details of the tenancy and send me the video of the apartment, if the apartment met my needs and requirements I was ready to pay the holding deposit for this property, they told me that they will get in touch with me as soon as they can, week goes by, they never do. No email no phone call no what’s app message, even though I specifically asked them to get in touch as soon as they can. Now the property is off the market. I do not understand why make all these promises and lose a potential customer by not getting in touch with them.

He’s a great people person and excellent at managing all the various and moving aspects of set of purchases in a chain! He's been in the Crouch End office of Martyn Gerrard for over 14 years and knows every part of the area and most of the people there too. Had Martyn Gerrard come to value our flat in Crouch end. We have experienced many Crouch end agents but these just left us bemused. I think they would be better suited to selling warehouse space as it seems to be all about the square footage without any comment concerning the actual property. They could probably walk in to the Sistine chapel measure up and not even mention the ceiling!

The worst "service" I have ever experienced. Horrible greedy bullies! I had the miss fortune of renting off of
Mr Gerrard his self, yep. Our landlord was the director of this company. Although he never actually spoke to us directly. My room leaked for two years, damp on every wall of my room. A 10% increase in rent every year and we were bullied by the staff in the crouch end office, in particular Anthony. He would call us and send aggressive emails pressing for an answer in our choice in renewing. As they had left it so late, we didn't really have a choice but to agree! Although, our request of having things fixed never happened. A horrible horrible group of humans who really do not care about their tenants welfare and are purely just after more money. It's not worth it, find another agent to let through. There are better ones out there!!

We rented our property through Martyn Gerrard and everything was handled by Andrew. Each step of the process was dealt with professionally and transparently. We paid a small admin fee (lower than any neighbouring competitors), which covered reference checks and everything else to move in. Each time we had a query Andrew was quick to help and a few times went out of his way to help.

Martyn Gerard are absolutely the worst estate agents I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Besides the extra fees, the shoddy response time and the consistently poor attitude; the company refused to give back my deposit. The reason for this was that I cut down a dead bush that was touching a junction box. Luckily the tenancy deposit assurance scheme refunded my deposit in full, albeit 3 months after moving out. Martyn Gerrard was obstructive unhelpful and extraordinarily petty. I would strongly reccomend not using their service.

Great, providing your happy to pay nearly £1000 in hidden charges if you ever actually use the early termination clause after 6 months, even if you give 2 months notice.
