All three of the sales team at MG in Winchmore Hill are truly excellent at what they do. Communications were proactive, always keeping us fully up to speed with progress, as well as unfailingly friendly and positive. When we needed advice it was invariably balanced, knowledgeable and helpful, especially when the going was not straightforward. They also liaised closely with the solicitor recommended, keeping things moving, and even nudged our purchase along for us via calls to the agents in Scotland. Afina & Dinesh were polite, supportive, and communicative. They were always on hand to take our calls/respond to emails and supported us as first-time buyers to navigate our purchase.
We appreciated being given our space to view to property in the first instance, without hard selling. We were also able to visit the property several times before buying, and again were left to our own devices to explore and discuss.
The process had its bumps, as all purchases I'm sure do, but we felt we were kept in the loop at all times. They continue to support us with questions and queries post completion.

This review has been edited to respond to Martyn Gerrard. Yes, you were correct in stating that if the reference doesn't go through, we will lose our deposit. However, I clearly informed you that I did not want to use online banking, and I was given the option to decline at the start of my application. I provided all the other requested information, which matched perfectly. Despite this, I was told that my payslips looked like something that could be bought off eBay. I also offered a guarantor to support my application, but this was rejected. I then offered to pay six months' rent upfront, which was also rejected, followed by an offer to pay one year's rent upfront, which was still rejected. I only wanted that house because it was close to family. I would advise everyone to ask all the necessary questions and be cautious to avoid being scammed by this company.
Beware of this real estate company—they're dishonest. They pressure you to pay a deposit before discussing your salary and then demand reference checks. Even after I provided all necessary documents, they insisted on accessing my bank account, despite my refusal from the start. They threatened to keep my deposit if I didn't comply, even though connecting to open banking was supposed to be optional. If they give you an option, you shouldn't lose your deposit for choosing not to connect.

My partner and I recently placed a deposit for an apartment and were initially eager to move forward. However, our experience with Gergana, the representative handling our case, was nothing short of frustrating. She repeatedly requested the same documents, even after we had already submitted them, demonstrating a lack of organization and attention to detail.
From the beginning, we informed them that we were uncomfortable with providing access to our online banking information and had submitted all other requested documents. Despite this, we were continuously pressured and even threatened to comply with their unreasonable demands. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable.
To make matters worse, when we decided to move forward despite our reservations, Andrew, the manager, exhibited a condescending and invasive attitude. He questioned our personal living situation in a manner that was both disrespectful and inappropriate. At no point were we informed that our deposit was non-refundable, and the way this situation was handled feels like an intentional deception.
We believe it is unethical, and potentially illegal, for them to withhold our deposit under these circumstances. The lack of transparency, respect, and professionalism we encountered has left us feeling cheated and disrespected. Such practices should not be allowed, and I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with this company.

I had had one valuation already of 535000 from another estate agent who sat down with me and discussed selling points, anything I had to tell him about my flat etc. He was very polite and focused on what was good about my property. Martin Gerard on the other hand, despite evaluating the same property type on my very same road at 535000, told me my flat was worth 500000, despite at least three rooms being significantly larger than the one they valued at 535000. They had had many viewings for the neighbour’s property and feedback was around the smaller sized rooms. Common sense prevailing, I would have thought my flat could have the same audience - and offer the larger sized rooms. There was no real interest in my home and in fact more questions were asked about the flat above me, that they were very excited about ! The process of a valuation can be quite personal - you are entering people’s homes and making comment, please consider people better and be consistent in your pricing of properties.
