Suggest you avoid renting through this estate agent at all costs, they were ok up until we moved in and then when we wanted to get any issues fixed they would take ages to resolve them (often months) despite following the correct procedure of creating cases through their website. For months we were left with windows that had huge gaps in them where the frame had bent - this was during winter so we had to spend loads extra on heating. We also had part of our ceiling fall down which they never repaired and a broken thermostat meaning we were without properly functioning heating for about a month.
The worst part came when we left and tried to get our deposit back, it wasn't even a matter of them just taking loads of money off or anything, despite always having paid our rent in full and on time they have just been stalling and stalling saying they need to speak to the landlord and are still yet to give us an amount or give any of our deposit back. It has now been 8 weeks since we moved out and 5 weeks since we started asking for updates about our deposit leaving me no choice but to go through the incredibly time consuming process of raising a dispute with the deposit company which is a process that can take up to 3 months to be resolved and stirling ackroyd have now stopped even replying to my emails despite my communication with them always being very polite and professional. We were very satisfied with the communication with the staff when me an my friend were looking for our new place to rent. They were updating us regularly with the progress of our offer and the process. They were very kind and to provide us all the relevant information for the next steps which made the process very smooth. Both Omar and Kurwahn were very keen to support and answer our questions. I will have to change my review given the recent events. Our check in date was incorrect and we had to call them to confirm. They ignored our request for the landlord to paint the property, when I saw the house, after we received the keys, it was in an awful condition with not even a single effort to fix even the basics. When I called them to complain and ask for someone to come and have a look, they told me that they are not responsible for that but they will contact the maintenance team,( we found broken furniture's, one window broken and one not working, walls full with wholes and dirt, mouse poison scattered in the cupboards), and also they said that they don't manage the property and we need to contact the property manager ( who I need to mention that first time she dropped us an email , 3days after the check in ,and after that she has disappeared). When I called the agency again they told me that they have no other point of contact apart from that property manager and company email, not even a contact number or a surname. Disappointing!
I am leaving the 2 stars only because you had manners and your team was polite but not helpful when needed. I guess I need to go to the council now to see if they can be of more help.... Read more
