We were initially lied to to encourage us to increase our offer and when we did, told we need to increase it further. Another branch had to step in to mediate. Now over a month into a purchase we have found that the parking that was advertised with the property is not registered on the land register. Despite numerous phone calls to try and sort it, no one rang back. We have now withdrawn from the purchase and the house has been relisted - still with that parking advertised. Beware!

I’ve always dealt with William h brown in Braintree to do my mortgages, remortgages and lettings. Alway excellent service, Nathan and jack in letting are the latest 2 in a long line of superior estate agents as far as I’m concerned.
Have had some shockers, most are liars, like 2nd hand car salesman with less knowledge and dealing with something much more important!
They train them up right in there that’s for sure, won’t be going anywhere else.

The whole experience of buying your first home is extremely stressful and nothing to like experience. Fortunately, there are people who can make it less stressful and make it actually work and be finalised.
Jenna from William H Brown was the person who helped us to go through extremely and incredibly annoying situations. Very pleasant person to deal with. No problem with communicating, no problem with getting answers.

The amount of stress William H Brown caused me I cannot even begin to describe. I practically had to shout and scream and be referred out of branch in order to get my deposit back - one that had to be returned to me as William H Brown falsely advertised a development under help to buy and then rescinded. Warren has no integrity he will lie and make up stories to get more than the asking price - he has done this both to me and a family member on separate matters. When caught in a lie he doesn’t own up, he just spins another lie. Good luck trying to speak to him to resolve an issue - he will always be away from his desk and will call you back - laughable. If I see a property is advertised with them, I don’t even bother - it’s not worth it. Warren and the Braintree team are appalling - please avoid. I only got my money back by threatening legal action. If I could give zero stars I would - scam artists

Jenna, from start to finish was on the ball and was always in contact with me. What should have been a positive experience was turned sour by the lack of effort from my solicitor. Jenna was always in contact and ensured I was kept up to date. She is very hardworking and persistent and without her help and assistance I’m sure I we would still be waiting. I cannot praise her enough; she made the process easier and ensured that my solicitor was doing what should be done within a timely manner. I have been waiting for over three months to receive my deposit back from a flat I rented. I have been continually passed from one person to another, before being assured that the money would be paid within a few days (which it has not). I started chasing the local agents for my money in July and was told on numerous occasions that the agent I was dealing with was not in and they would pass a message on, however no one ever got back to me. I managed to make contact via email and was later passed on to the deposits and accounts teams within the company. I have wasted a number of hours calling and trying to speak to various people within the company who seem hell bent on fobbing me off with excuses. I have been told on three occasions that the money will be in my account by a certain date but I have not received a penny to this date. William H Brown were also meant to issue my previous landlord with a statement outlining how much overpaid rent I was due to be paid back but have failed to do this also. Fortunately, my previous landlord is much easier to make contact with and we were able to agree a figure.
I would not recommend using William H Brown, or any of the businesses associated with them (Sequence, Connells) as they have been wholly unhelpful.

Disappointing. A series of administrative mistakes - mostly trivial but suggesting a lack of attention to detail. Eventually advertised on Right Move etc with the wrong number of bedrooms. However, they were possibly short staffed due to Covid. House was sold by auction and the fee I have noted was paid by the buyer to the auctioneer. How much they passed to WHB was not disclosed.

While there are some things about the company which don't appeal to me - everything has to go through in their corporate style - the fact is that the principal person who helped us (Harriet) and the others behind the scenes did a very good job. Their team got things moving with an initial Open House set of viewings (a very good idea, convenient for all concerned, and I don't know why all agents don't do it) and Harriet let me know about the removal of Stamp Duty, which was an amazing and unexpected windfall.

Our house sold with William H Brown when it had been looking like a difficult sale. I wasn't keen on some of the corporate style, but the exposure through such a large organisation was certainly an advantage. Harriet, who handled our sale, was excellent: open and realistic but also very encouraging. Their team behind the scenes helped a lot when solicitors needed a bit of encouragement. Awful experience! I wouldn't try and sell another property through them ever again! From start to finish they were dreadful, awful customers service and not professional at all. Once you have signed the paperwork they pass you over to rude and unprofessional office staff. I tried to terminate my contract and was advised I couldn't so I had to call the ombudsman for advice.... who asvised I was fully within my rights to cancel and it was the best decision I made..... my house sold within 23hrs of using another agent they had it for 3 months. Had a number of agents come to value our property and the gentleman from William H Brown stood out from the four of them thanks to his unprofessional, brash and poor attitude which bordered on bullying. He repeatedly interrupted me and was the only agent that visited us that day who was specifically critical of the others, which he did numerous times.
The day before we had had a flyer through our door from William H Brown to say that they had a buyer who was looking for our type of property, and he successfully managed to talk himself (and his employer) out of a sale.

My partner and I have recently bought our first house together with William H BRown in Braintree.
We started off dealing with Liam, he was very helpful to begin with. The longer our purchase went on i felt like an inconvenience when i tried to call or get in contact with Liam. I feel he lost interest in us.
I began to deal with David the Branch Manager, he was more helpful and had answers when i needed them and often contacted me before i needed to chase them.
We also got our mortgage through Thomas Brooks, the in house mortgage broker. Tom was fantastic! Very helpful, very knowledgable and his level of communication was excellent.
Overall an OKAY level of service. 3 out of 5.

Not impressed at all!! From start to finish it felt like they didn't really care. Agent came round to measure our house and get us on board, this was very pressured and a rushed drop. We signed the paperwork in the end but the agent was very sly and snuck on a % fee if they sell at a specific price post sign off.
We sold our property and then it felt like they had forgotten about us. Barely any interaction and when we did speak the office seemed disorganised, rushed and not personable at all. Many occasions when they said they would get back to us, but nothing so we were always the ones chasing. The estate agent who we were buying from seemed to do way more work for our end of the chain even though we weren't even paying them! We would not go with WHB again unless it was a necessasity. Felt very let down given feedback and reviews previously posted about our local branch. Isla was the only stand out member of the Braintree branch.

I went to see them first time around Feb, informing them of my intention to move to Essex from London sometimes in June. I was amazed when Jack contacted me at the end of May to tell me of a property that just became available and that We finally decided to go for and rent. I went to see various agency but this William H Brown and Jack were the only one who followed up my situation nearer the time of my move. This is quality customer service!!. Both Jack and Alice were amazing in supporting me through the entire process which they managed to make hassle free despite various thing might have made it much more stressful.
