As a first time buyers we were new to this process and luckily we had Sam Wooldridge on our side, who was outstanding through out the whole process. We cant thank him enough and without any doubt we want to give him 10/10. He is down to earth, calm and a very helpful person. My partner and I are first time buyers but had spoken to a lot of brokers and estate agents. We viewed a property with william H Brown and we had arrived early due to not wanting to be late. We were standing outside the property amongst ourselves and a lovely lady called Gwen opened the door. She was very welcoming and answered all of the questions we had. In regards to placing an offer, she was very consistent and stuck to her word, even if that meant calling us back at 5pm. She was great and very informative. She always updated us on the situation and we always felt supported. When gwen wasn't around we spoke to Sam and Graham who were also lovely and helpful.

Once our offer had been accepted we then worked very closely with Sam. Sam has been amazing throughout the process. He has answered every email within 24 hours, he has always said he is happy to help (and meant it). And he has been very patient with all of our questions and query's, especially as this is ou first time doing this. We needed information about the property and he called the current owner and was able to provide us with this information, very swiftly. We have phone calls between ourselves and he has been easy to get in touch with. He even arranged another viewing with us so we could take our parents to see the home.

Lastly, we worked with ashleigh who helped us with the mortgage. She was great from beginning to end and even planned to meet with us in the evening due to our busy working hours. She explained the process very well and ensured that she completed the mortgage application before she went on leave. OUTSTANDING The Best Estate Agents in my view from start to finish absolutely amazing. The whole team at the St Johns branch of William H Brown have been on point.
I was very well looked after by Gwenda who was professional, very knowledgeable, polite and always called me back. No matter how many emails and calls I made Gwenda and the rest of the staff never got annoyed.
When Gwenda was unavailable I was very well looked after by Sam, Graham and the rest of the team.
I also had excellent service from Julie their administrator who was very helpful with any of the advert changes and all the paperwork, super efficient.

The most dedicated team at St John's branch in Colchester are simply the most diligent and professional people I know. I had a terrible time with Fosters solicitors who were my sellers solicitor... Their terrible customer service caused my family great distress and I only got through this with the constant and persistent hard work from the team.

Worst estate agent I've ever dealt with. Wouldn't take no for answer, very pushy. Even after telling the branch assistant manager who did our valuation we where not interested, they have continued to call my mother for over a week from various numbers despite being told constantly we don't want to deal with them. Don't even get a valuation from them as they won't stop harassing if you do. I am certain had I not been there, the agent would not have left until my mother had signed up with them. Horrendous and dangerous.

I chose William H Brown because of the professionalism shown during the valuation. I felt that my individual property was being discussed, rather than properties like mine. The agent took the time to talk me through the sale process and how the property would be marketed, and instead of gushing about how easy everything would be (as others did), the WHB agent spoke in a level-headed way, addressing all of my concerns. The sale went through without a hitch and from start to finish I was kept updated on progress, without being bombarded by excessive calls. I cannot fault the service and would happily use WHB again.

I was with William H. Brown for several months and I was consistently impressed with how supportive they were. Always keeping me informed and, when I was listening to their employees showing people around my house, I could hear them making a real effort to sell the house for me. Unfortunately, in desperation, I went to a smaller firm in the town centre, hoping I'd get a better service. I didn't get a better service and it made me realise what I'd lost with William H. Brown. Just when I was about to end my contract with that smaller, town centre firm, they found someone who wanted to buy my house. That meant I was stuck with this other firm for the rest of the transaction. In a couple of years or so, I'll be selling my house again and then I''ll be coming back to William H.Brown.

We could not recommend the William H Brown St Johns branch more highly. We had a series of unfortunate events largely due to Lockdown which prolonged our time working with them. They couldn’t have been more supportive, reassuring, proactive and determined. They are prompt and effective communicators and really treated us as people who mattered rather than just as customers. I would particularly like to highlight the incredible service demonstrated by Gwenda and Nickola. They could always be trusted to do what they said, had wonderful negotiating skills and were in general really fantastic. Gwenda was incredibly effective particularly at the end in getting exchange and completion on time and we are incredibly grateful to her for going the extra mile frequently.

Moving house at the best of times can be classed as one of the most stressful things you can do, throw in a pandemic and a probate amongst other things to really test your patience. I am so grateful especially to Nickola who has gone above and beyond to secure my family’s forever home. Speaking at times daily, I feel like she has been on a journey with me, listening to me vent my frustrations and empathised with the rollercoaster of emotions the last 5 months have thrown up. Throughout we have been kept well informed as to what is happening and when, even when it’s been bad news...Her honest and upfront approach is exactly what’s needed to make sure our expectations have been well managed. In fact I have no doubt that Nickola and the teams’ hard work with chasing things, will have contributed massively to us exchanging nearly a month ahead of what had been discussed at the end of 2020. Adter deciding to move house during lockdown and viewing a lot of properties with a lot of different estate agencies we can definitely say Sam is one of the best. Sam showed us around 3 properties, he was extremely helpful and patient and had brilliant knowledge. I can not reccomend William H Brown colchester enough. Was shown round our home before putting an offer in with Kim. She was great and helpful with the questions I had even when she didn't know the answer to a few questions i had about the property she called back that evening with the answers. Nicola was also brilliant in keeping me informed all the way though from putting an offer in to completing on the property. She always returned my calls as quickly as possible and was a great help in chasing solicitors. I used their in house mortgage advisor Kirsty. I've never dealt with someone so good at their job as kirsty is. During a global pandemic when lenders didnt want to know anyone she was in at god knows what time trying to get me a mortgage in principal. She did it and got me a great deal with everything that I asked for. All In all I dont think I'll ever deal with another estate agents other than the St John's team and thank them all for their hardwork.

Essex, CO4 0NA) referred/ accompanied us to view a new build 3 bed bungalow in Stratford St Mary Essex last week. While my wife and I love that property, we decided not to pursue it because of the distance/ driving time to Chelmsford - where we still have social/ business commitments. We cannot let it pass without noting the excellent professional service provided by Sam Wooldridge. He is courteous, respectful, responsive, efficient, and knows his "products" well to answer detail questions. He communicates very well and is a good listener (to establish the clients' needs) and explore with us to find solutions. What makes Sam stand out from other agents is he understands how to stand back, allow us the "space" to explore but on hand to offer further information. Throughout our dealings (email/ telephone/ site visit) in over a week, he had never exerted any pressure on us. For us, he represents the model sales professional.

Nickola Kemp and her team are outstanding at WH Brown St Johns Wood Colchester. This is the first time I have used them for a sale and especially during COVID 19. Patient, informative, attentive to detail and just genuine, wonderful team and so well lead by Nickola. Nickola. is a star and remained calm with me even though at times, I was rather grumpy (but she operated in times never seen due to COVID 19 and even worked some times well in to the night and weekends to make sure every detail was covered prior to been Furloughed!). The sale was a little complex due to COVID 19, and when she was Furloughed along with all her office, she handed over to the area Director Rob, and her detailed brief and dedication of the way WH Brown work and many aspects needed real professional approach, to be able to do the sale at this difficult time was amazing!! She and Rob had to deal with factors never seen before, people working from home, companies having limited staff because it added some communication issues but she sailed through. First Class Estate Agent, well trained staff. She and Rob need a medal! This sale could not have taken place without her very professional knowledge of the whole process!! Thank you

As a first time buyer, the process of buying a house was daunting with lots to learn.
The advice and help I received from Amy Flanagan was above and beyond that of any other mortgage advisor I've tried to use, she was very friendly and helpful throughout.
I had a lot of questions that spanned much further beyond mortgage advice, yet she was able to answer them all, showing her expertise in the field.
I liked how honest they are, bringing up all information in front of my eyes.
Amy found the mortgage to suit my personal needs. I was being able to ask and filter to find the right mortgage with all the options I wanted.
The service I received from William H Brown was far more than just mortgage advice, they helped me find my home, even if it was with another estate agent!
During my search I went on various viewings with Graham Gough, he is very friendly and professional. He knew all about the properties we looked at, able to answer all my questions and advise about new properties coming to the market that suited my requirements.
Overall I am very happy with my experience with the St Johns branch, recommend them to anyone and look forward to using them again in the future.

Willam H Brown our amazing team, be honest with them and they will be honest with you keep reminding them obviously they have a lot of other people to deal with and companies to deal with, Sophie Cooper is a VERY GOOD team leader, her team Amanda: : mortgage advisor. I have got to say she is very good, because somebody left me in a muddle and she had to get me out of the model.
Amanda works along with Kirsty. These two girls are very outspoken people,

My husband and I were first time buyers. And we had no idea where to start and the whole ideal of buying a house was quite scary and confusing. I did try to go to different banks and other mortgage advisers but didn't find them very helpful. As unfortunately being both self-employed, we are not open to many options.
However we were luckily recommended to Lisa Catling, the mortgage advisor stationed at Willam H Brown at that time.
And with her help and expertise in the field, she made the whole process a lot smoother and easier. She was so friendly, helpful, reasonable, and professional at the same time. She assisted us from begging to the end, and we managed to put down an offer and exchange contract within a month!!! (From April to May this year)

Telephoned Thursday afternoon, wanted to a view a property, everyone was busy on the phone, promised a call back. W. H. B. close at 6pm so at 5:50, not having received a call, decided I would call them. No answer, no message machine. Here I am at 5:20pm on Friday, like a mug, still waiting for a call. So unprofessional. It’s the people relying on this excuse for a company to sell their property I feel sorry for.

If you want to sell your property DO NOT use this agency. This company operates under a system of sharp practice which in my case meant that they succeeded in increasing the agreed 1.5% fee by ticking the wrong box (which I didn't notice) and charging a fixed fee. They never answer emails or return phone calls. They also did not send the Terms and conditions with the contract and then when I terminated the contract they stated they did send them and sent me a "doctored" copy of the contract, which made it look like they did send them. In addition, after terminating the contract, they removed the property from their website and Right move without my consent or knowledge whilst they had stated that they would continue to market it for the one month notice period. I could go on, but its too complicated! Dreadful company headed up by a young and shameful manager.
