7th Apr 2026 (9 weeks ago)Extremely disappointing experience with Scott Fraser. We attended a scheduled viewing only to find that the agent didn’t turn up. We ended up being shown around the property by the current tenant, which is completely unacceptable and highly unprofessional. When this was raised, the response and apology from Liberty were minimal and lacked any real accountability. Despite this, we remained serious and submitted an offer. We were clearly told by liberty we would be contacted if there was an opportunity to improve it. That contact never came. Instead, we later found out the landlord had accepted another offer without any communication to us, despite expectations being set. The entire process was poorly handled, disorganised, and lacked even the most basic level of professionalism or courtesy. As someone who has previously worked in estate agency, it’s genuinely surprising to see this level of service still happening. Experiences like this only reinforce the negative stereotypes around the industry. Would not recommend.

When we ran into some system glitches, she quickly found solutions and handled everything manually to keep things moving. Super efficient, friendly, and professional. 5 stars all the way!

25th May 2026 (15 days ago)Our experience with Chancellors was extremely disappointing and stressful, especially as first-time renters. We viewed a flat that we genuinely loved and were encouraged to move quickly, with pressure to be ready to move in within a week. We rushed to get everything in order based on that timeline, only to later be told that the landlord was unavailable due to a planned surgery—something they apparently already knew about but failed to mention from the start. This immediately made the process feel disorganised and misleading. After that, communication became very poor. We were repeatedly told they couldn’t get hold of the landlord, despite us chasing for updates and often receiving little to no response. After keeping us waiting and leaving us in uncertainty, we were eventually told we had not been successful, with absolutely no explanation given—even when we politely asked for one. To make matters worse, when we called at one point to follow up about the staff member we had been dealing with (Will), we were told they didn’t even know who that was, which only added to the confusion and frustration. As first-time applicants, this experience was incredibly upsetting and unnecessarily stressful. We understand that not every rental application is successful, but honesty, transparency, and basic communication should be expected. Unfortunately, that was completely lacking here. Based on our experience, we would strongly advise others to proceed with caution. If you would like to be dealt with by a bunch of amateurs this is the correct place to go.

7th May 2026 (5 weeks ago)I had the most positive experience dealing with Allan and Harris estate agents. Your marketing, viewing and general advice was much appreciated. Always professional, approachable and provided a first class service. It made the house sale process very easy and stress free. A big THANK YOU for all your help and support - Nick you were amazing always there to answer my questions and give independent advice when it was needed. I felt your attention to detail was fantastic. Conner and Rhianna were always friendly at the end of the phone when I needed to ask questions along the way. I only met Conner in person when I handed the keys in prior to the exchange. But was taken aback when he remembered a small detail about the house - that showed he cared and had a good attention for detail. It was a long process from our first meeting and completion; due to a delay in Probate being granted - but I can honestly say I felt you guys were always there to support me and keep me up to date with relevant developments. I defiantly chose the right team to sale my house and would recommend you in future.

23rd Jul 2025 (10 mo. ago)Philip May's genuine enthusiasm for the property we were selling, and his ability to sell Hodsons' services sold Hodsons to me as the estate agent to choose to sell a family home. The subsequent progress has been excellent, with a well-qualified buyer lined up within weeks. The only criticism I have is that a 'For Sale' sign was erected in the garden of the property which was unoccupied, and I had specifically asked for no sign.

After our first attempted purchase fell through, Alex worked hard to quickly help us find an alternative that we were really happy with, and ensured the second attempt was smooth and stress-free. Throughout the process, Alex was quick to reply, clear, transparent, and really helped to move the process along. We’d definitely use Thomas Merrifield again in the future!

On both occasions call-backs were promised but never happened. It seems they can afford to turn away potential clients and business. We will now use other agents.

31st Mar 2026 (10 weeks ago)Time wasters. They don’t include pet restrictions in ads. When we ring to ask about pets, they state “pets will be considered on application”. Then once we view the property and put in an application, they state pets will not be accepted. They must get some form of commission per application…
29th Apr 2026 (6 weeks ago)?In my opinion, the Abingdon office's lack of communication shows disrespect for someone else’s time and is simply unacceptable. After requesting more details about the property, I received an email and a voicemail requesting that I call back asap, as I was informed that their ''properties are letting very quickly''. I returned the call within 5min and was advised that Gary would call me back because he was busy at that moment. I have been attempting to arrange a viewing for a week now; however, my call has not been returned and my follow-up emails have gone unanswered. Silence is not an acceptable standard of customer service — particularly after collecting personal information. I have now requested that they erase all of my personal information from their records as it appears my data was collected without any intention of providing the requested service.

4th Feb 2025 (1 year ago)College and county has looked after two rental houses for me for several years and they take all the hassle out of my life. They select great tenants and give regular feedback on how the letting is progressing, they also deal efficiently with the normal household problems like drains, appliance breakages and keep me informed with me having to interrupt my day to sort them out. They have also negotiated HMO licences with the council on my behalf. I have had requests from other letting agencies but am not going to change. Thank you C&C
