Never been so mistreated in my life.
The house was filthy when we got there. When we emailed to ask that the tenancy agreement be changed to say we didn’t need the house cleaned to a professional level when we left, Debbie replied by saying how dare we suggest we don’t have to clean when we leave. Eventually we made sure we had it in writing that we could leave it in the same state when we left. However, at the end of the tenancy our landlord went out of his way to try and charge us for a cleaner, despite us actually leaving it in a much improved state. He eventually backed down because it was of course ridiculous, but still charged us for cleaning windows and cutting grass which were in worse states when we arrived (he also charged £100 just to cut a small patch of grass and clean four windows).
We were left multiple nights without heating in -3 temperatures with a baby. We suggested what we thought the issue was and were told by the landlord it definitely wasn’t that - it transpired it was that (simply a quick fix of flicking a button outside), and were charged £80 for the boiler man he insisted we needed. When we suggested he pay or at least split the bill with us, he threatened to take us to court.
Our shower didn’t work for weeks but were told it wasn’t a priority because we ‘had a bath’. After 2 weeks waiting we were told it just needed cleaning - it didn’t and after 3 weeks it was eventually replaced.
We also didn’t have our allocated parking space for almost 6 months because the landlord wouldn’t make a sign.
In the end it took us months to get our deposit back, and emails asking where it was were ignored.
All of the above was made so much worse by Leaders incompetence. They must truly go out of their way to find the most evil landlords.
Absolutely avoid this estate agent at all cost, and avoid renting on Silver Street, Stansted, as it appears many of the houses are owned by our landlord, who will use any opportunity to take all of your money.... Read more
