   If you're thinking about moving home, do your research before choosing an estate agent. I wish I had. Looking back, I made the mistake of assuming that using the estate agent selling the property I wanted to buy would make the process easier and quicker. It didn't. What I didn't realise at the time was how much difference the right estate agent can make. That difference was Hannon Holmes. From the very first viewing, Gill and Naomi made me feel comfortable, supported and valued. There was no pressure, no sales tactics, just genuine people who cared about helping both buyers and sellers through what can be one of the most stressful experiences in life. One of the best things they encouraged me to do was meet the seller of my new home. At the time I didn't realise how valuable that would be, but it turned out to be one of the most helpful parts of the entire process. It gave me confidence in the purchase, meant I had someone I could contact if I had any questions about the house, and we've actually become friends. Throughout the purchase, Gill and Naomi kept me informed every step of the way. I never felt like I was chasing updates or being left in the dark. They communicated regularly, explained what was happening, and genuinely cared about making sure everything progressed as smoothly as possible. What stood out most was that they saw people, not transactions. They cared about both the buyer and the seller. They listened, they supported, and they always made me feel like I mattered. Buying and selling a home can be overwhelming. There are moments of uncertainty, frustration and stress. Having people like Gill and Naomi in your corner makes all the difference. They are professional, approachable, honest and committed to getting the best outcome for their clients.    Avoid Hills Estate Agency at All Costs!! I have spent the past year being over-promised and massively under-delivered by Hills. The experience has been nothing short of a disaster. There has been a complete failure in communication from start to finish. I was repeatedly given “estimated completion dates” that never materialised, followed by weeks even over a month of no contact whatsoever. Because of their poor advice, I am now over £2,000 out of pocket. The unprofessionalism is staggering. Staff openly discussed the seller’s personal finances, telling me the seller “had no money” and describing them as “an absolute nightmare customer.” Imagine paying Hills thousands of pounds to sell your property, only for them to bad-mouth you to the buyer. Completely unacceptable. Given this behaviour, it’s no surprise there are so many negative reviews online. I submitted a formal complaint and received a response from Charlotte today no empathy, no apology. If this is how a director behaves, it’s clear why the rest of the staff follow suit. If you value your time, your money and your sanity, avoid Hills like the plague!! Useless!!... Read more

    I had a very disappointing experience with Balmer & Co and would not recommend them based on my experience as a tenant.<br><br>While I was living at the property, part of the kitchen ceiling collapsed. Despite the seriousness of the issue, I was left living with the damaged ceiling for around three months before it was finally repaired. During that time, I repeatedly tried to get the issue resolved, but my communications were often ignored and the overall level of service was extremely poor.<br><br>The problems continued at the end of my tenancy. Balmer & Co claimed that there were marks and scratches on the walls and sought deductions from my deposit. However, I had video evidence showing that those marks were already there before my tenancy.<br><br>The most concerning part of my experience happened when I went to their Atherton office to ask for an explanation about the DPS deposit request. I handed my phone to Rachel so she could look at the DPS request and explain to me what was happening. Instead of simply explaining it to me, she pressed the “Accept” option on my phone.<br><br>I had not handed her my phone to accept the request on my behalf. I gave it to her so she could look at it and explain the situation to me. Once the request had been accepted, I was no longer able to dispute the deductions through the normal DPS process.<br><br>I later contacted DPS about what had happened, but by that point the request had already been accepted.<br><br>Overall, my experience was extremely poor: around three months living with a damaged kitchen ceiling, repeated lack of communication, disputed claims about the condition of the property despite me having video evidence, and finally the way the DPS request was accepted on my phone when I had only asked for an explanation.<br><br>Based on my experience, I would strongly advise tenants to keep photographs and videos of the property from the beginning of the tenancy, keep all communication in writing, and never hand over control of their DPS account or phone when discussing a deposit dispute...
