As a first-time buyer, my experience with Alan de Maid West Wickham started positively but quickly turned sour. Initially, the team seemed nice and eager to assist. However, they failed to disclose that the property they were selling was owned by a company and had been held for less than six months. This turned out to be a non-standard sale, requiring additional due diligence by our solicitors to ensure everything was compliant.
Instead of being understanding, the consultant, Hannah, became increasingly pushy and rude throughout the process. As a first-time buyer, we expected guidance and support. Instead, we was met with pressure to close the sale, without reassurance.
Overall, the experience left us feeling uneasy and disappointed. Buying a home should be a milestone filled with confidence and trust, not frustration and doubt.

After a failed attempt at the "online estate agents" I contacted Alan De Maid, West Wickham branch, and dealt with, initially, the professional branch manager, Lisa, who came and appraised the property and gave her honest opinion on a realistic sale price. The photos and brochure were promptly prepared and then went live on the normal portals. I then had the pleasure of dealing with the wonderful Hannah, who conducted most of the viewings and secured a sale for us twice!! Hannah kept in very regular touch with us throughout the whole process which, as there was no chain, was a quick turnaround to completion. They managed all of these challenges in the middle of a pandemic, with lockdowns, masks and social distancing was not easy and we really appreciated the efforts they made to support us.

Due to a previous bad experience, a decade ago, I was reticent to use Alan de Maid, however this time around the experience has been totally different. Two areas they excel in, are getting things done, and communication. It took a while to sell the property, but their suggestions were always wise and backed by experience. The team is superb, I dealt mainly with James, but when he was away the other team members were great too. They were professional and ethical and honest throughout. They smoothed over any confusions quickly between both parties to keep both sides happy and communication was clear. They knew exactly our criteria and called us when the suitable property became available. They put forward our offer quickly and also communicated with solicitors for updates as well.
