Beresford's have been great managing agents for my BTL property which i've had with them for several years. I would highly recommend them to all. All correspondence from my tenants have been swiftly passed on to me, Gas and electric certificates have been dealt with promptly. All the new laws for landlord compliance over the years have been documented and keep upto date by Beresfords. I would caution any prospective tenants from renting with Beresfords. They’re very adept and well trained to protect the interests of their landlords, but I’m sad to say that they’ve provided a very poor service to my young family and displayed a shocking lack of care for our wellbeing. To give you a flavour for some of the lowest points of our tenancy: they’ve ignored our pleas for them to damp-proof the bedrooms where our newborn baby and 3-year-old child slept for up to two whole years (blaming the rampant black mould on us failing to ventilate the property when in fact it was riddled with rising damp); coerced us into signing a much longer tenancy agreement than we were comfortable with (insinuating that the landlord would no longer view us as desirable tenants if we asked for a break clause to be written into our contract); forced us to vacate our family home for almost two weeks with no offer of alternate accommodation and insisted the place was ‘perfectly habitable’ despite it being essentially a hazardous building site; and demanded I surrender my set of keys to maintenance workers because they never managed to acquire a set of their own. And that’s honestly just the tip of the iceberg…

Albert has been absolutely phenomenal over the last few weeks whilst my husband and I have been trying to find a new property. In a very stressful situation where we unexpectedly had to move last minute whilst 8 months pregnant, Albert has truly gone above and beyond to find us the perfect place to settle. I am a portfolio landlord and used Beresfords in Brentwood to find and reference a tenant. I will not use them again. Their rental valuation for my house was top end. When I queried it they said the market was 'buoyant' and they were confident. I specified that I wanted a regular working family. A succession of prospects were put forward, some did not meet my criteria, some failed referencing. I brought another agent in who recommended a significantly lower valuation. Beresfords followed suit, lowering their valuation and immediately resulting in more interest. They put forward a 'couple' with a child who passed referencing. 2 days later the couple hadn't moved in and the male confided they were not living together and wanted to withdraw from the agreement, also citing an issue with the boiler. To cut a long story short a leaking pipe occurred the night the male decided to move his things in (he intended to occupy the house himself) causing a drama and him insisting on returning the keys and giving up the tenancy. Beresfords charged their full fee and refused any refund. I do not feel they fulfilled my requirements and that a partial refund was due. I feel their main concern was to maximise their fee.
I note the response from Beresfords. The crux of my complaint is that I specified that I wanted a regular working family for my tenants. A couple with a young child were put forward but it emerged subsequently that they were not living together and therefore did not meet the agreed criteria. My view is that it was the nature of that relationship that was a major contributor to the failure of the tenancy. To date (end Dec 2022) I have still not received a formal response from Beresford's to my complaint.

Slow to work on apartment repairs. Generally, not impressed for a 2022 standard service expected.

As landlords of a flat we have used the services of Beresford's Lettings on and off since 2008. They provide an excellent service - sourcing suitable tenants, check-ins and out, regular inspections of our flat, prompt payment of rent to our account and good maintenance service for any issues which sometimes arise during a tenancy. Very friendly staff. I would definitely recommend Beresford's Lettings.

Daniel Ives sold our house for us. He was on time for all appointments, took great photos, knowledgable and great from start to finish! He gave sound advice and not only did he sell our house quickly he went above and beyond searching for our forever home plus with my added endless questions and then stressful problems within the chain, he chased solicitors and other agents endlessly, helped with surveyors, solicitor and mortgage recommendations (who were all great!) and helped out of hours many times! We honestly can’t thank him enough, this wasn’t an easy sale and he went well and truly above and beyond, not one grumble or moan. The other estate agents in the chain weren’t helpful - everyone at Beresfords Brentwood were helpful and understanding throughout all the stress. Dan (and Brentwood branch) we can’t thank you enough!

We feel that Beresfords was a good choice. The staff were cooperative , positive and enthusiastic. Only criticism might be that we were asked to conduct our own viewings when the time was inconvenient for beresfords staff. Also the sold sign was displayed as soon as we had a buyer. Although the property wasnt really 'sold' at that point
In terms of value for money, we don't think estate agents should charge the amount they do but that's probably a general comment about estate agents.
