While searching for flat to rent, I approached Douglas & Gordon to see if they had any listings that suited my search criteria. Hannah was in charge of handling my account. She was very responsive and professional, providing me with good options that were within my search criteria even when I had made known that I was also using other agents and had viewings lined up. She welcomed calls and never did I feel I was a nuisance with my smaller budget. She will give you the time of day and not rush through the phone call (I know I was semi-rambling at one point) even if she has a busy day ahead.
In the end I found a place with another agent but I feel I should thank Hannah and the team in this branch of Douglas & Gordon for really treating me as a valued customer.

If you recently move to a country, it is very difficult process to find a home.
I have been looking a home for 3 months. Douglas & Gordon Estate Agents' staffs were very helpful in this situation.

Elizabeth the senior negotiator has been very cruel to a someone who was desperate to find a home. She strung us for 2 weeks assuring us that all is well but she cancelled the application at the last minute. We gave her all the details requested with a guarantor who runs a successful property business but unfortunately Elizabeth’s behaviour and treatment against a desperate women is disgraceful. You should be ashamed of your self as a women Elizabeth! You knew the lady was desperate for a home. She had her deposit and 5 weeks rent plus a universal credit backing for her rent plus a business owner as a guarantor. ! What was your problem? How could you be soo cruel!!!

I can't recommend Douglas & Gordon enough. They have been super responsive in the last two year's when I have used their services to rent out my flat. I am generally happy w the service Ellie provided to landlords like me.
I do however have an incident last autumn to relate.
My tenant had complained of a leaking showerhead and tap. I do have a plumbing repair policy w Homeserve which the previous manager Josh Wilson had utilised to solve problems like this.
However last autumn I was presented w a 650 GBPplus bill for the call out for diagnosis n eventual repair. I could easily hv saved the money if Ellie had called Homeserve first.

Just wanted to share what a fantastic experience we have had in securing a property to let via D&G. From my initial enquiry about available properties, right through to moving into our new home, the process couldn't have been smoother. The team really took on board the information we provided in terms of our requirements, and found us a beautiful property which ticked all of our boxes. In particular, we can't thank Lisa enough for taking the time to patiently answer all of our (many!) questions in the intervening period between making the offer / signing the contract and moving in. She went out of her way to help us with everything we needed and to ensure we were happy, including allowing us access to the property to measure for furniture before our move-in date. When thinking about an agent to let your property, one COULD choose them : Only you may ave a letting manager from this office (let's just call her P) get your tennant completely off-side in the very first hours of having the property in her management!
How?
1: Arrive at the property unannounced
2: Make entry past the security door then Lie to the tenants mother about the period of time you have been attempting to make contact (The lie , all day yesterday and today - the truth, a single email a couple of hours prior)
3: Enter the property under false statement on the permission of an elderly woman who was not the leaseholder.
4: Deny the content of a conversation that took place in the property to cover your earlier lie to gain access. By doing so, you implying that both the tenants elderly mother and friend who were both present are a liars.
4: Contradict her words with their actions by stating 'I would never gain access without permission” after being inside the very same property - without permission.
5: When challenged on this, came up with the excuse "I was just testing the keys' - (the same keys that only seconds earlier were said of "I would never use without permission"
As a direct result of this agent, the tenant has now shut down all access to the property other than the absolute legal minimum. This now means that the flat will probably go unleased for weeks after the tenancy, costing the landlord 5k plus in lost rent. Quite a skill for an agent to crash and burn so quickly when all it would have taken was a unreserved, unqualified apology.
Lack of emotional intelligence just astounding.
So yes, you COULD choose them....
Or you could go with someone who is... Oh I don't know... Capable? Principled? Honest? Truthful? Good?

Over the phone from Singapore Lisa took down what we were looking for, locations, budget, style etc. we reviewed a few options via email and further refined things and lined up viewings for the day we landed.
