We recently bought my mum's flat through Gibbs Gillespie in Rickmansworth, and I cannot recommend them enough, especially George Callaghan. George was absolutely fantastic throughout the whole process. His support was invaluable—not only did he handle our purchase with great care, but he also went above and beyond to ensure the entire chain was moving smoothly. This wasn’t even his job, but he stepped in to help when needed, which made such a difference!
His friendly and calm demeanor kept us reassured, especially since this was a sensitive sale and purchase for us. He was always there to answer our questions and offer advice, no matter how busy he was. George really made us feel like we were in good hands.
If we were to buy again or sell, we wouldn’t hesitate to go through Gibbs in Rickmansworth. Thanks again, George—you made what could have been a stressful experience much easier!

Rental properties department never reply queries, I had to fill a form to book a view that got the question “ are you British” even I am, I don’t think should be a relevant question as people should not choose who can view a property by their citizenship
I’ve submitted more than 10 queries for different properties and I never received any email or call back to offer any property . I have a permanent job, a good income , and and excellent credit score I’ve called them this morning and a “Mr” asked questions like: do you need to give notice in your actual property . I said NO, and I can move soon .Even thought he continuous insisting and interrogating why ? If a said “no notice” that means NO. Is it because I don’t have a British accent ?
Do I need to tell that I’m divorcing, that I can leave and why I can leave ? That’s difficult to understand why people don’t focus on make more business , reply to customers offering similar properties, reply to emails and, instead , losing time with inappropriate questions.
So many nice state agencies that I don bother anymore to find a property with Rickmansworth Gibbs

In summary: accompanied someone on a property viewing where the estate agent said we were going to a tenanted flat but somebody had evidently passed away and had not been found for a while. Flat still smelt overwhelmingly of decay despite all the windows being open.
Went to a viewing where the place was apparently tenanted as the estate agent said she needed to confirm whether a viewing would be ok with said tenant.
Arrived at the flat to a double bolted door and got let in by the groundskeeper. The stench that hit as we walked in is one I hope to never smell again in my life. And all the windows were open.
The floor of the main bedroom had been completely removed. There was still a huge brown patch on the underlay. We suspect the person passed away and tragically hadn't been found for some time.
The estate agent didn't have the courtesy to call or email to apologise for what we unknowingly walked into. Didn't realise that's what people could do for money. Absolutely putrid.

TL;DR: Estate agent said we were going to a tenanted flat but it was actually a flat where somebody had evidently passed and had not been found for a while after the fact. Flat still smelt strongly of decay.
Was taken to a viewing under the guise of the place being tenanted as a few days before our visit, the estate agent, Cathryn, said she needed to check with the tenants to see if our viewing time was ok.
When we got to the so-called tenanted flat, it was double bolted. When we were let inside by the groundskeeper, despite all the windows being open, there was an overpowering stench of DECAY.
As we got to the main bedroom, I noticed they had excavated the flooring in the bathroom. Despite that, there was still a humongous patch of brown on the floor.
I suspect that the poor soul who lived there had passed away in the flat, in that spot, and had unfortunately NOT BEEN FOUND FOR A WHILE.
Never got so much as a courtesy post-viewing phone call from the estate agent, never mind an apology for the misinformation and bringing me to a horror scene.

Lettings team manager especially Mr S Lakhani has been very understanding to us, gave us useful practical advice and being in prompt communication, even did in person to make sure our move was smooth and timely. They have great approach of resolving issues realistically and with honesty.

Very poor experience overall. When we first arrived the house had a litany of issues - no operational shower, bath had a major leak, toilet seat hanging off. These things were resolved eventually but it took quite some time.
After each 12 month period they put you on a new contract with a new 6 month break clause, so long term renters will need to expect that inflexibility every year.
On leaving the property, we had the carpet professionally cleaned and spent a whole day cleaning the property. There were a couple of things that needed some extra work - some time spent on the kitchen and bathroom for example - maybe 2 hours worth of cleaning total. They charged us £420 for this, which is the cost for a full professional clean. If I had my time again, I would not have bothered to clean the place at all - what’s the point, they will always find something which is not perfect, and then send the bill for the full clean.
Same for tidying up the garden - £150 for 1 hour's work.
For landlords - they will accept a lower rental offer in order to get people on their no deposit scheme, which means more money for them and less for you.

Rented a flat that had multiple bailiffs after the landlord, a neighbour that had known altercations with police (the reason the landlord was renting it out), was not told about any of this. They lied to the landlord and said I had agreed things which I hadn’t. Had to get family members to speak to them as they wouldn’t take me seriously because I was a young girl. Worst experience I’ve ever had renting. Even called me multiple times whilst I was in hospital when they knew I was there. Would never recommend, stay away.

When buying a property and I guess selling it, we need patience but so does the agent we engage. I have to highly recommend 'James' from Gibbs in Ricky, who, from start to the finish, had our best interests at heart.
He liased so well, seller to buyer and brought the sale to completion today. It's tempting to say 'What a smooth operator' but, he was such a good point of contact and support all the way through the transaction, with a huge attetion to detail for both sides.
I don't like conveyancing, but would I go anywhere else - definitely NO!

Unprofessional staff. Agency confirmed the viewing appointment and when I visited, no one was there from Agency.
When I called, no one attended the call. left voice-message and sent an email.
Again called back and the person said since the lock was not working so viewing is cancelled. This information was given to me when I was there at the appointment time.
Though a day before they said tenant is staying in the flat and move-in date will be next month. Two different statements by the agency. If tenant is living in then how lock is not working.

Sophie showed us around the property in Rickmansworth. She's professional and very patient in answering our questions. We asked a favour from her to let us know in case anyone sends an offer because we were very interested in the property but had to attend some more house viewings. She explained to us how the offer works. She conveyed the information to us when the landlord was pleased to accept us as the tenants but we had to view couple more properties that day, so we asked her if she can wait until close of play. I was pleased when she agreed to this, and eventually, we also accepted the contract. We asked her to allow us to visit the property one more time to make some measurements and she was kind enough to speak to the current tenants for us to do this. Sophie is very responsive on our emails and calls, and she tried to call us back as soon as she could whenever she missed our calls. Overall, I'm very satisfied on how Sophie handled our tenancy. This is only the 2nd ever review that I have ever left, but Gibbs Gillespie are so deserving that I had to make the effort!
I had been trying to sell my house in Rickmansworth on and off for the last five years or so, we would have it on with various local Estate Agents as well as Purple Bricks and for one reason or another it would not sell. So we ended up in a painful circle of attempting to sell it and then giving up and trying again with an alternative estate agent every year or so. It was a lovely house but there were things about it that some viewers saw as a negative and it put buyers off. Danny and Philip were especially excellent at turning those negatives into real positives and managed to get me an offer of the asking price within one week and my wife and I were over the moon.
Danny and Philip did everything they said they would do and were so professional, Danny was especially helpful with the process after the offer had been accepted and acted as an excellent go between for us and the buyers, I felt i was in safe hands every step of the way.
We are renting at the moment , but when the time comes to buy again we are hoping that the house we will want will be marketed by GG as I now have the confidence in them that the buying process will be as smooth as the selling.
I have been meaning to pop in and say thanks personally but but being especially busy has got in the way.

A special mention must go to George the branch Manager. George provided great insight and an early preview to a property which we ended up purchasing - it fit our requirements 100%. In addition he managed a very convoluted (solicitor wise) process which involved both a sale and a purchase (we bought and sold through GG) exceedingly well. His communication was spot on and his approach and proactiveness are probably one of the key reasons we managed to both sell and buy in a very timely manner against the clock.
In years gone by George also managed a sale for me in which the level of customer service was also fantastic. This is the second time I have used GG and I would not hesitate to use them in the future for any subsequent sale or purchase. A huge thanks to the Rickmansworth branch team for helping making this all happen!

Very laidback and unprofessional. Did not provide me sufficient documentation prior to moving in flat ie inventory etc.
Flat was left clean apart from some obvious scrapes . I accidentally damaged HOB which I subsequently paid for replacement.
Agents took no responsibility for flat. Landlord was pretty non existent and hard to get hold of. There will multiple issues with flat but landlord and agency both were not interested to rectify.
Landlord kept my full deposit. This is not justified although I was not expecting full amount back. £980 for some wall cracks and scrapes.
In my opinion, not trustworthy and honest.

Can’t rate Michael from Gibbs Lettings highly enough! Right from the start, Michael was extremely courteous and genuine when we met him to review a potential property we were looking to rent.
Having never rented before, he was extremely accommodating with questions and also really knew his stuff about the property. Given the challenging circumstances surrounding COVID-19 Michael still managed to make my family and I comfortable throughout the viewing. Any questions he took away and responded to in good timing.
Gibbs Gillespie have also been super helpful and responsive throughout different areas and have made the experience a very pleasant one.
Would definitely recommend if looking at property in Rickmansworth. They are extremely professional and above all else treat you with respect. It’s hard not to feel like you’re being treated as a commission payment or sale but have to say this felt more like people were priority rather than profit.

One star is too generous, frankly. Phoned on a Weds to view a rental property, and was given a slot on the Thursday afternoon. I had to move some stuff around for work because the only slot they would arrange was 2pm on Thursday - nothing later, no alternative days because they decided the property would be gone by Friday. I drove for an hour from work to view the property, only to be told when I arrived that it had been cancelled. I received no notification of this, despite the fact my wife had phoned the office hours before. I complained, I received various excuses - they initially blamed the landlord, but eventually conceeded that the lack of communication shouldn't have happened. I was advised they would get in touch to rearrange the viewing ASAP.
Then on Friday, a viewing was scheduled for Saturday morning. On the Saturday we rang ahead this time, was advised it should be fine. When we arrived we were informed that the ground floor property advertised was not the property we'd be viewing - instead we would be viewing a 1st floor property. We were specifically looking to move because we need a place accessible from the ground floor. There was no real apology for this, the inconvenience, the lack of communication, the time we wasted, petrol spent or anything. The person showing us around couldn't even advise us of the rent or council tax. When I rang to complain I didn't really get an apology, and was offered "some insight" - basically they were blaming the landlord again, missing the point that my complaint was around the lack of communication.
I'm sure Gibbs & Gillespie get their service right sometimes - they must do, to have a functioning business. But when they get it wrong, it becomes glaringly obvious that they don't care about the lives of the people who'll be living in the properties they advertise. Appalling treatment of clients, unprofessional staff, and misleading.
P.S. The property which is apparently unavailable is still being advertised, and they've added "ZERO DEPOSIT" to draw more people in. Terrible.

From the first viewing, Tom was professional and straightforward, without pushy sales tactics, and was willing to get answers to our questions promptly before we had made an offer. He made the effort to get to know us as a family and we felt confident that he would put our offer forward in the best possible light.
Both Tom and Will were extremely helpful and efficient when it particularly counted, towards the end of the transaction, when a lot of communication between parties needed to be facilitated. This enabled us to reach a positive conclusion for the whole chain.

Being an estate agent myself, usually I am quick to criticise when dealing with other agents. A lot of lettings agents I have dealt with in the past are usually unhelpful and pretty incompetent, so it was a breath of fresh air when renting through Gibbs Gillespie. When dealing with Kate Restall, I found her extremely professional and helpful and she certainly didn't lack personality which as an estate agent is certainly one trait that is needed. From the moment we had our offer accepted, to the moment we moved in, there was never a lack of communication, queries were answered as late as 10pm at night via email and the whole process was just very straight forward. I was so fortunate to work with Will Curling as I assisted my 82 year uncle sell his home in Croxley Green and move to Scotland. It was a difficult sale as I live in Canada - that’s correct Canada! Thus I had to do all this via email, FaceTime and the phone.
Will was so professional both in understanding that an 82 year old widower needs special attention as well as making the vast geographic distance between us seem like nothing. I joke with my friends here that I sold my uncle’s home in the UK via email, but in reality that was the case; at least the facilitation of the sale. I am competing this on behalf of myhusband and son who were shown round various properties by Tom on Monday 9/1.
They had done a number of viewings via and with various different agents and the only one who impressed them was Tom and he impressed them greatly by his knowledge of the properties and the areas they were in. Many of the other agents seemed to know nothing at all, to even basic information.
We were considering more than one area and have in fact decided to purchase in Hertford. Despite the fact that they would have been pleased to give Tom the business, this was not possible but one thing is certain - if we ever needed to market a property or recommend someone to do so in Rickmansworth Gibbs Gillespie would be who we would choose.
