We had to leave our Hampshire home at short notice following a disastrous oil leak. Mid-November is not a great time to search for rental properties, with landlords pulling out of the market, leading to demand increasing for the few remaining. Also we hoped to move back into our house once rectification works were completed and so didn’t want to commit to an 18 month lease, with 12 month break clause, which is standard. We needed something more flexible.
Thanks to Sheila O’Brien’s helpful and imaginative approach she persuaded a landlord who had decided to sell up, but was neither renting, nor selling, that he should rent to us until the sales market improved. In return we would facilitate viewings. The result has benefitted both sides - we got our short term home; the landlord got rent and eventually a sale as the Spring market warmed up. Everyone was happy. Sheila is a class act!

Summary: this is unequivocally a 5 star review/rating for Hamptons Richmond, specifically for their Sales Consultant, Rory Clarke.
For context, I was looking to buy a 3 bedroom property in or around Richmond for our family of four (two young kids). I’d suffered a plethora of ‘ghost’ listings and wasted time from other agencies during my search, who then bombarded me with random properties in which I had no interest. Then came along Hamptons, Richmond – a breath of fresh air. The whole experience was completely professional. Rory attended the viewing, and personally supported me throughout the whole buying process. Rory was exceptionally responsive to emails and calls, as well as SMS when the occasion arose. It wasn’t a straightforward sale due to a shorthold tenancy that still had a few months to run, but again Rory (with support from Mathew Gilbert) managed to keep me aligned with the seller through to exchange of contracts.
I cannot thank Rory enough for his refreshing approach to sales and the whole customer experience. Hamptons are lucky to have him!

My husband and I were looking for a 2 beds flat in Richmond in October and November, which are the most difficult months due to low availability in the property market and the most sought after type of property. However I was impressed by the good advice and professionalism of Sheila O'Brien, who no only arranged very quickly the viewings but also provided a sensible and accurate advice during our house hunting. Furthermore, I felt that Sheila knew from the beginning what we were looking for, so we avoided unnecessary viewings. She kept showing properties relevant to our location and needs as soon as they appeared in the market. She was also very flexible when requested specific times and very professional at all times. We cannot be pleased enough with the service provided by Sheila. Hampton will be our first choice when moving again and I will no hesitate to recommend them to all the friends and family who want to relocate to this area.

Hamptons: During my 7 years of renting all around UK this is being the WORST agency ever. I have been without able to use the water for more than 2 weeks due to a broken pipe. When finally they sent us a handyman, he broke the flash and the shower which left me another week and a half without being able to flash or have a hot shower.
Our neighbours complained to us when the water from our broken pipe reach their garages and made damages on their belonging and of course our own.
I've also being chasing them regarding the washing machine, 3 months after I am still waiting for them to fix it. The dry cleaner next to Kew station is by now my best friend. (I highly recommend them :) )
As long you do not have any problem with the property the agency is polite and friendly but GOOD LUCK when you need something.

Referencing of two people with solid and comfortable earnings required complicated accountants references, a page-long reference form from the MD of one's investment bank, intrusive disclosure and woeful disregard of private information and the data protection act
Then there was the landlord who couldn't find his own lease or insurance documentation. And the clause in the Hamptons contract which asks the tenant to indemnify the landlord if their insurance doesn't pay out. It's very much "Hamptons and their client" vs. the tenant.

I interacted with Neil Coughtrie of Hamptons in Richmond during a recent purchase of a flat. I found Neil very professional and informative. Not only did he ensured that the interest of the seller was well represented, he worked very hard to bring us together to achieve a good transaction for both parties. I am particularly impressed by his efforts after we agreed on price. He continued to keep on the ball to ensure that the transaction is completed in time. During the process he was highly professional, engaged and informative without overwhelming. I do recommend Hamptons and Neil in particular and wish him all the success. Kambiz D

Our house was listed with a local Kew agent, and we invited Hampton's to join them as we felt they would add another dimension through their local and international connections. Our sector of the market is currently slow, and disappointingly, there weren't many viewings, however, in the main they were quality, proceedable buyers, and I had the impression they were working hard to find potential buyers for us. We were impressed by the structured, quality weekly phone calls we received to update us and talk about next steps throughout the marketing process. Once the offer was received, the agent, Justin, was excellent in terms of progressing the sale - he was available, informed, responsive, professional, and agreeably terrier like in his persistence in managing the sale process through. We exchanged three weeks after the offer was accepted and completed 3 working days after we exchanged, which I felt was very good going. I would have given four stars if the level of commission had been the same as our local agent! We would definitely consider using Hampton's again.

We moved from Australia to Richmond and needed to find a place before we arrived. We pride ourselves on getting the absolute best (that we can afford), leaving no stone unturned, meaning we saw many properties and dealt with many real estate agents. From their perspective, we can be demanding when looking for a property - especially when we weren't available to view them.
Hamptons Richmond were exceptional. Sheila was actively suggesting properties that met our requirements, dedicated significant time to showing my husband properties on the 1 occasion he was in London and then facilitated Skype hookups to show us properties remotely. Then with the move, we had a few teething issues with paperwork and furniture delivery due to organising logistics from Australia and again, Hamptons Richmond went above and beyond to assist. They just made it happen with a can-do attitude.
Hamptons represented all their properties extremely well (which made the decision hard) and significantly better than other agents (who often represent the same properties as they do in London so comparison is easy). Always available to show the property, always knowing all its features and local info and very prompt in finding out further information (e.g. size of openings) if required.
As a result we are in our dream house. It sounds trite by after being told by my husband that 'I can't have it all' - we actually do. I usually rant about service (especially in the UK) so it takes a lot for me to rave - but Hamptons Richmond and its staff are amazing. Highly recommend to use as your go-to agent to find the perfect property or as a vendor to sell as they did such an amazing job of representing the landlord too.

Hamptons International in Richmond were excellent to work with. Sheila helped us find and negotiate a property that was perfect for us and affordable. The service was very personal and responses were timely. We moved from overseas so had many concerns. Everything was addressed and accomodations were made as needed. Everything went smoothly. We love our new home!

The team at Hamptons International were always very helpful and friendly. If I had any problems they would sort it out straight away. I felt that they treated me on a personal level. The service is excellent, there was no skirting around the issue, everything was done promptly and I wasn't just dismissed when I moved into newly rented property. Would definitely recommend them as an agency
