They were as professional, responsive, pro-active and eager to please as you would like (but not necessarily expect) from an estate agent. It was a multiple agent listing and we were not surprised that John D Wood rose to the occasion and brought in a serious buyer. They offered sound advice, helped fill in forms, facilitated negotiations with the buyer and communicated with our solicitor. Highly recommended.

My experience with Abbotts has been consistently miserable: 1. I wanted to arrange a viewing (to buy) at a property in Girton and was told that I would have to wait 3 weeks as the tenants were away. When I arrived at the appointment I found that the property had been sold during that time! 2. Before looking for properties to buy, we let a property through Abbotts. They initially quoted fees of over £600 to photocopy a tenancy agreement, more than double of any of their competitors. When challenged they reduced the fees to £300, still more than their competitors. I hate to think that people actually fall for this. 3. As a part of the fees we paid for a moving in inventory. We were pressed to sign a document saying that we had seen this and agreed to it. When I asked to see it I was given an OLD inventory and finally the agent confessed to having forgeten to arrange it! By this point we were already moved in so the subsequent inventory was redundant, leaving both the landlord and us exposed. Abbotts, in my opinion, are an unpleasant combination of greedy and incompetent. I will not view any properties that they advertise and I make my feeling known to everyone I know. This industry needs an overhaul.

Abbotts - Cambridge

We recently bought a property being sold by King and Chasemore and can honestly say they did as little as possible once we had made our offer. They seem to have a massive turn over of staff, and there was no cohesion between their offices or indeed between staff members. Staff were untrained or gave that impression and very unprofessional. They seemed to have no idea of what was going on and on the day we finally completed, they had no idea that completion had taken place, they had no keys, and when that was finally sorted out by our solicitor they advised us that we would receive a letter saying we had withdrawn from the purchase!!! The only reason given for this was to say that this sometimes happens courtesy of their head office! I could write a book on the subject of king and chasemore but it would make for very poor reading!

King & Chasemore - Saltdean

Atrocious customer service. 6 weeks after moving out of rental property and still I haven't got my deposit back. Responsibilities shift from A to Z, "oh we don't deal with this here", "speak to X". X on the other side of the country doesn't care etcetc. Avoid like the plague.

Abbotts - Cambridge

They took over the management of the property I initially rented from another agency. I was an ideal tenant, professional, quiet, not damaging anything, always paying bills and rents on time and cancelling all my utility bills when checked out. The landlord refused to release the deposit and unwilling to communicate his reasons. This agency did not help me whatsoever to try to solve this problem. With a landlord unwilling to communicate and release deposit and with an agency unwilling to help, after 2 months I ended up opening a dispute in MyDeposit where the deposit was hold. Extremely disappointed.
