Really disappointed with with John D wood's managment. They were amazing when initially renting a property but on moving out this seems to have really changed. Firstly out deposit was not returned for weeks, we recieved emails threatening overdue rent even after leaving and despite a stellar post-move inventory checks, they initially emailed my partner and I emails saying that deductions would be made - and then once I called to see what this is regarding they said that they had made a mistakes and actually it was all fine - to then still not return the deposit for over a week. Multiple calls and undue stress for no reason. Seems to be very a different calibre of staff dealing with getting you into a property vs leaving.

We have been renting out our house for a very long time and our most recent experience of finding and preparing for new tenants has been the best by far. Katherine and Sardar at the St Margaret’s office proved hugely valuable guides to what was needed at each stage. Katherine steered us expertly from the initial marketing through all the legal and regulatory requirements for the new tenancy (they seem to change every time!) to the final move-in. Meanwhile Sardar pulled out all the stops to get the house refurbished in time for the move-in date. In just a few weeks, he identified available contractors, arranged quotes for work, oversaw progress, and ensured the house was ready on time. Both Sardar and Katherine were excellent at keeping us informed of each new development. Crucially, they were also easy to reach when we needed additional help and advice. They each brought their own high standards and expertise to bear on the making of this tenancy and we have been very pleased with the result.

For some years I have rented out my property in St Margarets with John D Wood as my property management company. During that time, I have been assigned several property managers. Some have been good, but few have been as outstanding as my current manager, Sardar Berzo.
Sardar is always courteous, efficient, and prompt to respond to messages, queries and any issues that arise. He is diligent and thoroughly professional in his approach to his role.
Recently there have been some problems with work undertaken by a contractor and I was impressed not only by the way Sardar dealt with them on my behalf but also grateful for the support he gave to me personally.
I consider myself very fortunate to have this enthusiastic and impressive young man assigned to take care of my property and my tenants.

Meeting Simon completely changed our painfully lengthy house hunting experience. He embodies everything you hope an estate agent would be. He engaged brilliantly with understanding our criteria, and establishing our search location down to specific streets. He had encyclopaedic knowledge of the style/layout of houses in different areas, and who he knew who may be interested in selling. He sensitively approached people not currently on the market and facilitated several viewings. We’ve just completed on a property we saw very quickly through him. Throughout the process he gave honest, frank help and has always been a pleasure to deal with. We felt like we were working with an expert and I’d definitely trust him to sell our house if we ever moved again!

PLEASE READ!!!
Very disappointed and lost all trust in this agency. I signed a 1 year fixed-term contract with a 2 rental payment system. The first payment was a 6 month upfront, and the 2nd one was paying the leftover 6 months' rent after the first initial 6 month. They tried to charge me another month of rental payment because they didn't organise well enough to find a new tenant after my stay. Jason T, who was one of the letting agents, used the excuse of me not giving them a 2 months' notice, which wasn't stated on my contract and threatened me by emphasising the term "by law" that I will have to pay the rent until they find a new tenant. I stood up for myself and replied to his email, and told him that I would not pay any extra rent or payment outside of my fixed-term contract. After my email, he went radio silenced on me even when I enquired him about other things outside of the contract matter.
As I proceeded to find another property, they purposely gave me a bad reference which lead me to a lot of trouble getting the property I was accepted to, but luckily everything got solved on my end and I got the property I wanted. The bad reference they gave me was that I was only 3 days late for my 2nd 6 month rental payment. The referencing company also said it was unnatural for them to do that, and it was highly possible because of me rejecting their demand for that extra 1 month payment.
I rarely give any reviews, but this time because of this agency I was almost at a point of being homeless with the referencing problem and of course the 1 month rent scam.
Please think twice before signing a contract with this agency.

The worst, if I can give negative one I would.
I went to see the property with their agent Alex in Twickenham.
When I put down an offer they gave me the document and asked to put down the deposit on the same day as the landlord requested and we made the payment.
Later on Monday Alex texted saying the Landlord is asking for more money to which I refused as its not the way or against the principal to walk away from a done deal. They said they will refund my holding deposit
Seems like a scam they took the deposit and still haven't returned it to me.
Now due to them I cannot put deposit for my next property.
Do not trust them they're incompetent and still haven't refunded me. Eager to take the money but not to refund.

We sold our flat in the second week of October with John D Wood and the whole transaction was fantastic. We honestly couldn't have had better estate agents.
This was our second time of listing the flat as we had tried before with another agent the previous year and oh my word the service with John D Wood was so so much better. Think premier league versus non-league!
We started the process of listing the flat as soon as the first lockdown lifted and from the off despite all things Covid and the new rules etc Simon from John D Wood was understanding, knowledgeable and put us at ease with his style and approach. Simon, Zoe and the rest of the John D Wood team continually found good quality purchasers to come and view the flat. In addition they were always happy to discuss our listing, the staging of the flat and the market in general as well as anything else relating to the sale. A review for prospective renters and buyers, myself and my partner were first time renters with little experience of the market.
We found that John D.Wood had a wide selection of properties to rent across the area we wanted to live being south-west London.
After finding what is now our dream property online, we contacted John D Wood and spoke to Harriett who was friendly, informative and extremely helpful. She managed to arrange a viewing for the property just three hours after viewing it online.
The property was both clean and well-presented, it was immediately apparent that Harriett had a good understanding of both the local and property history.
We were consciously aware that our property would be competitive and after some negotiations, the team at St.Margarets particularly Laura & Harriett persuaded the landlord to choose our offer and we couldn't have been more thankful for all their help.
Once the tenancy agreement was drafted, the team expedited the moving-in process to allow us to enter our new home as soon as possible and continue to offer us on-going support if needed.

Laura Purvor from John D Wood has pulled out all the stops to get my mothers flat let, not a an easy task as we are on 2 different continents and a 5 hour time difference, I probably owe her a drink or 2.
All the hurdles have been cleared. If your looking for a letting agent or an estate agent they’ll keep you informed and help out with potential problems and find satisfactory solutions. As they say in the USA

Absolutely shocking service recieved by John D Wood. Terrible experience and will not ever be using this agent again. Would have given zero stars if possible. I cannot put into words how incompetent the Property Management team is. Complained to Countrywide and issues still not taken seriously. We are now in direct contact with the landlord and it appears that he has also had a similar experience and cancelled the property management contract immediately. They were quoted £4,500 for a job that we got a contractor to rectify for £500.

I have to find a new property during the hardest months of the year (October & November) but the process was made much easier thanks to JDW great team. Special mention has to be given to Lucy Fox who responded always very quickly, making the viewings very easy and consequently I found a suitable property within no time. The rest of the references and paperwork was also instructed without delay. I had no worked with John D Wood before but I was very happy with the way they speeded things up making the process seamless and efficient.

I have previously used other local estate agents to rent my flat. It has always taken a considerable time and the tenants have not always been suitable.
I decided to try JD Wood and was immediately impressed by the professionalism and approach of their manager Laura Purvor and her team. I was particularly impressed by the fact that they had a ready list of potential professional lessees through their wider Countrywide connections.
The flat was viewed the day after I agreed to appoint JD Wood and to my surprise and delight I was informed the following day that their client wished to take the flat!
The process of checking references, signing documentation etc progressed seamlessly and any queries we had were answered immediately.
Laura and her team can even take credit for facilitating a meeting between ourselves and the lessee which greatly reassured us and established the basis of a good landlord/tenant relationship.
I can't recommend Laura and here team at JD Wood highly enough.

They, with special thanks to Eloise and Laura and Lucy, made finding and then renting a property much less stressful and quicker than I thought possible with updates about progress along the way and with clear information on what I needed to do.

Bad service from JDW. Spoke to an extremely rude receptionist or something or other...Eloise or Louise...didn’t care to ask her to confirm. Very curt and seemingly unwilling to be of assistance. Will stay away from all branches in future following this experience. Maybe less money should be spent on marketing shiny brochures and more on customer service training!!!!

It is true to say that cliches exist for a reason.
The old adage of House Moving being one of the big five of life’s stresses certainly rang true for my recent purchase of a flat in St Margaret’s.
The perfect storm of a rather ill, and thus unobtainable solicitor, coupled with a jittery vendor, plus the complications of exchanging over Christmas certainly added several more grey hairs to my head.
Indeed there were many times it looked as if the whole thing would collapse.
There is no doubt in my mind, that without the patient, and delicate negotiating skills of Simon Philp of John D Wood, we would not have exchanged and completed.
I can’t say I am the most trusting when it comes to Estate Agents, so working with Simon was a breath of fresh air.

The most appalling property management department i have ever come across.
The difference in service level from when it used to be Fitzgibbons is quite astonishing. Such a shame to see a company taken over and ruined.
Being passed between two offices, St Margarets and Chiswick, both with equally unhelpful and rude staff, long waiting times to get contractors to a property, plus you have to chase them up yourself - they are unable to keep you up to date with anything, or even remember what they are supposed to be dealing with. Utterly unprofessional

Downsizing is always difficult as it feels like an end of an era, so it is especially important to have the right team in place
From the original valuation by Jessica, where her positive yet firm and knowledgable attitude won the listing, we never wavered in our support as we could see that she and Simon always knew what was happening before we asked the questions. Jack came in at the end on our purchase and the way that the whole team pulled together as one was really reassuring. No question too silly and nothing was too much trouble. I felt that I was their only client.
I have bought and sold 11 properties over the years and this is the best experience ever (and this is despite it being a very painful chain).
If I could, I'd persuade people to move and get them to use John D Wood, just so that their impression of 'Estate Agents' can be changed for ever !
