Ollie started off by working through what we needed along with our budget and then gave us a detailed breakdown of what we could expect, and what we may have to compromise on.
He understood what we wanted, managed our expectations and sent us properties that we truly liked and wanted to look at.

Me and my partner lived in north east London where monthly rental payments were sky rocketing, coupled with limited to no help navigating this uncertain market from our estate agent.
We contacted multiple estate agents across boroughs within commuting distance from the City and came across Rupert. Having no prior experience of the south west, especially the clapham area, Rupert helped us locate and secure our dream home (without viewing 101 different properties), that included all our requirements, two bed ground floor flat with a garden, a well connected area and is near bars and restaurants.

It was quite a finely balanced situation as Rupert knew our first priority was to sell but, in a difficult sales market, he was assiduous in looking to introduce potential short term corporate tenants prepared to pay top rentals which would have generated some interim cash flow for us, without having to commit to a longer lease. If I could rate Marsh & Parsons zero stars, that would still not be low enough to properly convey the hell they put us through. Specifically Rupert Viney and Toby Brewer who caused months of grief for myself and my flatmates. They’ll tell you not to worry about a break clause, and that the Landlord will be sure to approve any tenant swaps, then when you request one they’ll use it as leverage to extort you for potentially thousands of pounds to exit the property. I would not deal with these letting agents even if the future of human life itself depended on it. Had we not been constrained by time and resources I would have pursued them further in court, as I believe they acted not only in breach of good faith, but also the law. They held allegations of misconduct over our heads, but refused to provide any evidence when we requested it. Absolute lowest form of life, oxygen thieves.
With regards to M&P’s below response, I believe there were multiple situations where they acted against their moral obligations, and potentially out of accordance with the law. Completely unfair from start to finish, and they’ll happily make good honest people out to be criminals. Had I more time I would pursue them legally, but they’ll take advantage of your situation to make as much money for their clients as possible.

Great experience renting our flat near Wandsworth common. Lightening fast, we listed the property and within 24 hours had 30 viewings and 7 offers on the table, including some over asking price and actually then the deal was done and tenants were in within days. Yes there were delays in December from moving out dates, COVID and Xmas, but it has still taken an unacceptable amount of time. The release was instructed weeks ago and surprise surprise no money has been received into our accounts.
I know that even the staff are aware that they've been useless as the latest emails even included instructions on how to file a formal complaint. I won't waste my time complaining again as I already did and the escalation did not help at all.
Best is just to avoid - M&P have proved themselves to be unreliable and pretty incompetent.

Very bad experience with this agency.
Me and my housemate had a viewing booked at 12pm and 9 minutes earlier I received a mail that has been cancelled since the property is gone. Of course we were already travelling there at that time.
Result, we spent a part of our day off taken on purpose for house viewings and money on transports for nothing.

We rented a flat with them. They were calling us several times per day until we made the payment. Once we paid, they did not respond to our calls or emails, asking for questions about the flat, such as where and when to get the keys.
The only emails that we received from them was to make sure that we had set up the standing order and to leave them a good review (here it is).
We went to the flat during the check-in, which was made by an independent company. The guy of this company was the one who gave us the keys. There was no one of the agency the first day when we moved.
The flat was dusty and dirty. The toilette was clearly not cleaned, we found some nails (finger nails) in a drawer in the room, some drawers were broken...
There were several details about their management that show their irresponsibility and a lack of professionalism by them.
In our view, they only take care of making sure that we pay and then they do not care about their clients. TRY TO AVOID.

I am being asked for a renewal fee for a flat I left 13 months ago. They have no right to a fee and they are either exceedingly dumb or grasping about this. I shall write more if they do not stop pestering me for £72 they did not earn nor ever asked for. I know they are estate agents, and nobody likes them, but do they have to be so thick?
Otherwise they did a fair job showing me around, and presumably earned handsomely from the deal at inception

Genuinely impressed with the service we've received whilst dealing with Marsh & Parsons and in particular with Rupert Viney. From the adverts that we applied to, we were contacted by 5 estate agents from the off. Rupert was the only agent who managed to get us booked in for a property we wanted to see and, even better, booked us in for a further property at his suggestion which was in fact the one he ended up negotiating and closing for us. Responses have always been speedy, negotiations transparent and fair and property management has been excellent.
I would not hesitate at recommending Rupert or M&P to anyone looking to rent in South West London.

Couldn't have had a better experience when looking for a new flat. We dealt with Rupert Viney who had done a couple of viewings before other estate agents had even called us back. The best part about the experience was that he took great care to determine properties that would be suitable to us so the process was quick and enjoyable. Throughout the negotiation process Rupert was responsive, even when out of the office and was a delight to work with. Cannot recommend enough.

Unresolved maintenance issues at our unit, The Paperworks, Balham Grove over last 6 months of tenancy. This included no working lights for over five weeks to the entire lower floor (which comprised two bedrooms and two ensuites). Had to get around the house and bathrooms with torches and head lamps, and mold spread throughout windowless bathroom as non functioning exhaust fan was related to the electric wiring issue.
Agents consistent poor coordination and communication with electricians meant issue still unresolved by the time we moved out in November 2017.

I've worked with the Balham branch of Marsh and Parsons for many years, for both sales and lettings of local properties. I've always found M&P staff at this branch to be helpful, fair, and ready to go the extra mile (...though perhaps not always quite as smooth at head office level, where I've had one or two issues). However, I was particularly impressed on my most recent letting experience, where Emma Procter and her staff couldn't have been more efficient. I gave them a go ahead to let a property on my departure for a 2 week holiday: within 2 days, hardly having had time to unpack and pick up a glass of Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc, and we had above asking-price offers from 2 good sets of tenants! Referencing and processing of the preferred tenants was conducted whilst I moved onto the Shiraz, for a move-in date just a few days after my return! Emma even popped into the property in my absence to check that the professional cleaners had carried out the job properly so that I wasn't left unprepared in those few days prior to new tenants moving in. It was a process conducted with real professionalism, and meant that I could enjoy my holiday without unnecessary stress or interruption. I should go away more often.

Our interactions with M&P over the past year and a half have consistently met our standards for integrity and ethical conduct of business. Amy Farrington worked tirelessly to help locate and secure our last two flats. She is a star agent and came to the rescue when another local agent left us in the lurch. She is friendly, prompt, infinitely patient, and very skilled at acquainting herself with our needs and determining what properties would suit us. When Amy was out one Saturday, her colleague Matthew Huggins stepped in to continue the hunt. Matthew was equally helpful and lovely and confirmed our suspicions that M&P is a place with decent people who treat prospective tenants like humans rather than money machines. In a city where good, affordable housing is hard to come by and letting agents can be vicious, it has been immensely relieving to work with someone who has our best interests in mind.
