Last year, my mother attempted to put her home up for sale. My sister and I conducted interviews for her, and the William H Brown representative, Adam, was by far the worst. He gave our house the lowest valuation out of all the people we interviewed before proceeding to deliver a terrible presentation that kept repeating over and over again that William H Brown does not only care about money, in the hope that the more they say it, the more we might actually believe them. I wasn't particularly impressed, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. My sister, however, thought he was absolutely terrible. After meeting with a few other agencies, we advised our mother not to go with William H Brown.
Unfortunately, there was a big problem we did not foresee. Adam, in fact, knew who our mother was, as she worked at a nearby shop. One of the only things we requested from him was not to bother her at work, as she wasn't yet telling people she was selling. Adam said that he understood and would not do such a thing. Around five minutes later, he went into my mother's shop and loudly announced that he had just had a meeting with her children about selling the house in front of one of her colleagues.
Adam then proceeded to constantly harass my mother about listing her house immediately, making bogus claims that she needed to sell now as the market was about to drop massively. My mother finally gave in to his harassment and accepted. Once the house was listed, he would call her every week, insisting she needed to lower the price more and more. He would also continue to harass her at work. Eventually, my mother came to her senses and fired him, but the whole experience caused her nothing but stress, and she was really upset about how this absolute vulture treated her.
Please do not go with William H Brown. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.
Edit: I am appalled that you are defending this behaviour and calling me out for providing honest feedback, although I’m not surprised. Here are the facts:
Adams initial valuation was 775k.
All other valuations we received were significantly higher ranging from 825k to 875k.
Adam subsequently harassed my mother and continued to urge her that she should pick him. He eventually told her that if she picks him he reckons he could get it sold for near 900k. My mother assumed he was full of it but decided to give him a try.
Immediately after listing the property Adam then continually harassed my mother to drastically lower the price. The final straw was a couple of weeks later when my mother reminded him of his empty promise. Adam responded that he now thinks her house is only worth 760k. This literally drove my mother to tears.
I really don’t think I’m being unfair giving honest feedback of the events that took place. If you’re not open to criticism, then perhaps you’re in the wrong business? Also yes, my mother was a very nice woman who liked to give people the benefit of the doubt. It’s just a shame some people saw this as an opportunity to take advantage of her.

We put our house on sale with another estate agent and 8 weeks later although we had a number of people viewing the property we had not received any offers. Having been approached by a number of estates agents we decided to advertise our house with William H Brown along with the existing Estate Agent. Whilst the initial process of getting people through the door was a little slow, they managed to attract a number of viewings. I can NOT recommend Michaela Norbury ENOUGH!!!!!
She has been an absolute breath of fresh air! always reachable, accommodated us when we were unable to attend our meetings and arranged phone appointments instead (even with short notice!) she is very sharp and communication just ran so smoothly. Her clever nature made the mortgage process so much smoother. She was the 1st person we ever spoke to as new buyers and she did not hold back any information even though we were so early in the process and there was no certainty that we will end up going ahead with her. We spoke to many brokers and many advisors all over London due to the nature of the house hunting process but she just raised the standard so high that no one could match her. The process can be very stressful and full of paperwork and there was many unexpected events that came up but her expertise and kind nature made the whole process easier and even enjoyable at times. We will forever be grateful to such great service and can not imagine how difficult this would have been without her. Thank you!

If you want a smooth and personal experience then please choose William H Brown. The team at the Broxbourne branch were excellent and became like a second family. The process of selling our property was a breeze, they offered an open day instead of individual viewings which made life so much easier and the viewings went so well that we had lots of offers. We also purchased our new property through William H Brown and we were treated with priority and would get to know first of any new properties about to go on the market.
We used the services of their mortgage advisor who managed to secure us our rate just before the interest rates were going to go up. Had we done this ourselves we would not have known it was going up the next day but they have special access to find this out.
Yes there are cheaper alternatives but quite often we have heard a lot of bad experiences of where people’s houses weren’t being sold and we ourselves tried to view a house that was being sold by these ‘cheaper’ companies and found it difficult to get a viewing booked. If I was you I would avoid and go through William H Brown as moving home is stressful enough and they can take some of that pressure away from you.

We dealt with Dan, Angie and Matt. Matt showed us around the property we bought, even staying after his finish time on a Friday. From then on most of our communication was with Dan and Angie, whom we found to be very friendly, honest and helpful, always returning our calls and being proactive throughout the entire process.
It’s been less than 3 years and we’re moving again! Adam at WH Brown Broxbourne has been amazing, with some help from Matthew too. Their customer account system is great at keeping you informed of progress every step of the way. No pushy sales tactic, just good sound advice and support. We have sold our house with them and bought another, all within 4 days. Our house sold in 2 hours! No mean feat in the current market. Adam managed our expectations very well and worked hard to bring the chain together. Was extremely disappointed with our experience. Extremely unprofessional and would not be honest with us throughout. We would constantly be told that someone would phone back to talk to us and no one ever would- we would phone and leave messages and it would take over two weeks for a reply. Appreciate that the seller we were trying to buy from was not easy to get hold of, but there is no excuse for the poor communication or lack of professionalism we were shown from the estate agents. Could not recommend to anyone and would never buy or sell from William H Brown Broxbourne again. Would leave zero stars if possible, a waste of our time and money.

I chose to go with William H Brown because Adam was really clear in his communication as to how the process of selling was going to work. I’d had a nightmare in the past with estate agents and William H Brown were committed all the way and communicated really well throughout. The solicitors they work with are great and quick to communicated any problems and reply to any queries; not something I’d ever experienced with solicitors in the past. Let my flat out to them about 4 years ago. The first year or two they were very good with keeping me up to date with things such as annual boiler check and electrical check and informing me of any other repairs etc. Also did there regular spot checks every three months or so and reported back to myself on there findings. Earlier on they were great as I said earlier but things started to change even before covid 19. The regular checks literally stop to a point where I had to keep chasing them with what’s going on as I wasn’t directly involve with the tenants. It got to the point where the tenants got my number off my neighbour just to inform me that things there needed fixing and I wasn’t been made aware of from the agents even though they were telling them things needed doing which I don’t blame them for in that aspect. I felt that I had to get so involved in the running of the letting to the point where I said to them what was the point of paying you for full management of the place when I didn’t want the stress of it. This carried on for a number of months of me chasing the agents up on what’s going on with the place, leaving messages and NEVER get a call back from them regarding an issue. Even when it came up to eventually getting the tenants out by giving them three months notice and them not willing to leave William H brown were no help at all. It felt like they washed there hands of the situation and left it with my solicitors to deal with. I find there business as a whole was acted very unorganised with no help to me whatsoever and that I would NEVER use or recommend them for letting to anyone. It took exactly a whole year from August from the first initial letter of eviction to finally get the tenants out. Now with the tenants out this whole thing has costed me a lot of money and to even get the deposit back now is another issue. This is certainly a lesson learned and to be weary of estate agents such as William H brown by giving them full control of your property.

We were using an independent mortgage broker and he had told us that our mortgage in principle was a certain price after doing all the checks (incorrectly). With that in hand we went looking for a property and when it came down to putting an offer in we were told that the mortgage in principle wasn’t ready and that it was just a “guesstimate“ he had given us. when I tried to get a hold of the mortgage broker to get a bit more information I was met with anger and rudeness telling me that I was disturbing him and from there he ignored me.
Obviously you can imagine how embarrassing this was but we had to call back the estate agents and let them know that there was a big mistake and that we were given wrong information. they were very very helpful and very understanding and that’s when they referred us to one of their in-house mortgage brokers/advisors who was Ricky bond.
My first chat with Ricky was very tearful and I explained all of my worries and stresses and he sounded so happy and so ready to help me and reassured me and my partner that we WILL get a home. With Ricky’s help we managed to get a mortgage in principle by the next day and Found an amazing property in Waltham Cross unfortunately due to the whole issue with the EWS1 we were unable to purchase that property.
So we went back to the drawing board and we found an even better flat just down the street from my mum and Ricky came back to us and pretty much said this is within your price range and it’s affordable and you’ll still be able to save after paying everything. We put an offer in for this flat in December and on the 26th of February we got the keys to our first property!
Being referred to Ricky was the best thing that could’ve happened to us, It definitely restored Our faith in this whole property purchasing process. And that having someone like Ricky to walk you through the process is worth the money. Ricky literally took the stress off our shoulders and as first time buyers he made it a smooth and as easy as possible, I have no doubt that when we are ready to sell our flat and when we are ready to buy our forever home Ricky will be there for us.
Side note: Even though we were first time buyers we had no idea of anything that we were doing and no question was too dumb no question was too silly. Ricky was so understanding that we were new to all of this, he allowed us to message him and contact him for any small little thing that we needed help with even if it was just an explanation or just to help us understand something, he was always there and he always either called us back or emailed us straight away. I’ll forever be grateful!

A first class mortgage advisor, who does a lot more than just source you mortgages- from budget planners to a cost of moving analysis, we got so much more than what we paid for!
We also saved a small fortune, as our previous mortgage advisors quoted us more than double what Ricky & Sequence charged us, (and that fee drops by 80% on future purchases !) plus his links to quality solicitors and surveyors meant we could get all the essential services at a much more affordable price, so our overall costs of moving including legal fees were much cheaper than anticipated.

Do not trust these people - all you will hear is lie after lie after lie and false promises that will cost you money!!! Communication is absolutely diabolical the poorest I have EVER experienced. They have NO idea of the meaning of customer service. It’s shameful the lies they will tell to make sure they get their commission, which under no circumstances do they deserve!! They have no conscious when it comes to messing with people’s lives!!

I recently purchased a property through William H brown in Broxbourne and I must say how impressed I was with the level of service I received. We were introduced to our property before it was even advertised for sale and we agreed the purchase there and then. After we shook hands on the deal we were kept informed and updated regularly throughout the process and everyone in the office was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I would regularly pop into the office and could ask anyone any questions I had, the support throughout was really first class. I found I had complete trust in their integrity throughout and I would have no hesitation in using this team again and recommending them to friends. We recently sold our flat through William H Brown Broxbourne and have to say these guys were excellent from start to finish.
The first appointment we had was with Isa who visited the property and gave us a very fair valuation and did a good job of setting our expectations.
Once we had all photos done and instructed to sell James and Angie took over from that point both were on the ball and were in regular contact regarding viewing, offers and general calls to touch base from time to time. It didn’t take them very long to get us an offer and once they did Dan did a great job of liaising between all parties ensuring the process went as smooth as possible right up to completion which took away all the stress you would usually associate with moving.
Overall I would have absolutely no hesitation recommending William H Brown Broxbourne they did a fantastic job and should we decide to move again I know which estate agent I will be calling.

Hopeless. They sold a property for us more than two months ago and incorrectly deducted too much commission. Despite them acknowledging the error immediately, I am STILL waiting for them to refund the difference. It's getting boring now phoning them for a weekly update. I have had every excuse ranging from missing chequebooks, a Christmas party, "The cheque needs to be approved by somebody at our head office" plus a load more I have forgotten about. I can't fault them for help with finding a buyer, it's just getting boring now phoning them.

Helpful and patient. I had to sell my late fathers home in Broxbourne and I live in Bournemouth, the team at WHB were incredibly helpful with the entire process. We had a few delays with the probate going through and luckily we had an understanding buyer. if I lived closer to the branch I would not hesitate to use them again. Dishonest, lazy and incompetent.
Do not trust this branch of William H Brown with your time, money or information. They do not comply with their own codes of practice or the law. They show no remorse when they are caught red handed breaking their own rules. Their senior management and head office staff are like minded. This company is untrustworthy at every level.
Find another agent, you will regret using this one.
