Landlords and tenants BEWARE. An awful agency that does not follow the law.
£800 Security deposit was not protected in a government-approved scheme and instead sat in the company bank account.
It started when I moved into my rental property, on the day nothing was ready for me, I waited for hours whilst the contracts were sorted and payments were taken. Costing me more money for my van rental and parking. This however was the least of it.
Upon leaving the property, I tried to find my protected deposit, they outline in all documents that the deposit will be protected as per the law put in place by the Government. I couldn't find it in any of the approved schemes and started to worry.
I contacted my local branch and received appalling customer service from the outset and throughout. I will give details along with the employee giving the information below.
The overall point here is that my deposit was not protected and I was first told I can't have my money back and then told I had to sign an addendum to get it back. All of which continued the illegal behaviour of Your Move.
One standout thing for landlords to be aware of is that I was told I must sign a document immediately if I want my unprotected deposit back. This document looked to shift all the blame onto the actual landlord, who had paid Your Move for a service and to ensure the deposit was protected. I sought legal advice throughout and managed to avoid signing this and saved my landlord a lot of money in doing so.
Compensation was finally given after I had to fight my case for weeks and I received the lowest level, given all of the activity that took place during this time of me trying to locate where my money was, much more should be awarded and would be by the court. The stress of dealing with the company left me wanting to end communication and I do not wish this process on anyone.
Kieran Milner (Plymouth Branch): Rude, dismissive and once I realised my deposit was not protected refused to answer any questions in emails and also refused to speak on the phone.
Danielle Bailey: Someone who holds a high position in customer service for Your Move, is one of the rudest people I have had the displeasure of speaking to. Disagreeing with me when I got the name of the person I needed to speak to wrong and speaking in such a way that I highly suggest a long course in customer service is offered to this employee.
Nicholas Evans: Lied to me regarding the document I was asked to sign. Initially said it had to be signed to get my money and also that I would still be able to claim compensation from Your Move. Both turned out to be untrue, the document was never signed and I got my money back. A further document that assumed it had also been signed detailed that any compensation now had to be claimed from the landlord (which I specifically did not want to do, luckily legal advice meant I avoided ever signing the addendum he created).
Inna Lewer: Again, awful customer service skills and little effort made to provide a worthy solution.
In such a competitive market, you can see from my experience that both tenant and landlord could have been negatively impacted, I highly suggest you explore other estate and letting agents. As Your Move soon lose any loyalty when they are at fault and do anything they can to shift blame. The worrying thing is, the process to shift the blame seemed so polished... almost like they have done it multiple times before.

We chose Your Move to manage the sale of our rental property based on their punctuality, professional appearance and conduct at the initial visit to the property, their realistic valuation and their associated fees.
Branch Manager James and Kathryn dealt with the sale and were very professional and proficient throughout the whole process. Nothing was too much trouble (despite sometimes feeling like the nagging customer ..... sorry about that) and any issues or concerns we're promptly addressed and resolved.

I let a property with Your Move Plymouth for almost 13 years and I then recently sold that property with them. The sales team is awesome. Kathryn and James have worked extremely hard to sell my property. It was a bit of a struggle for them with the market and some of the issues with my property. I really appreciate how persistent they were in giving appropriate advice, seeking a buyer and then quickly communicating and resolving any issues. There were many issues that were not their fault but they worked hard to communicate with all parties so we could move past the issues and complete the sale. Without their persistence and hard work my property would be back on the market. I really appreciate the team at this agency and would highly recommend you choose them to help you sell your property!

Very poor service. They never called me back when they promised. I had to call to chase up but they can’t give me any solutions! As landlord I pay hundreds to them but they failed to let the property. They don’t even write descriptions about the property when they are advertising it. I Can’t believe I am paying them for nothing! They also failed to send electricians to do repairs work, this year they missed the routine inspections! Really poor service! Very disappointed!

Having had poor quality service from estate agents in the past, I was apprehensive about taking a viewing with Your Move. I was, however, pleasantly surprised by the professionality of the agent who took me and my wife through several properties. His name was Milo and he was courteous, inquisitive and left me with the sense he was really looking for the best for us. Unfortunately there wasn't a property suitable for us at the time but I cannot dismiss the quality of service I received and I am very grateful, could not recommend enough.

I was work on Friday but got solicitor Monday. Then tue they emailed to say the house I offered on buyers gone with someone else and said its because I didn't bring in documents ie passport ID because called into work. But they never checked my chain!
Don't think they wanted to accept as why keep viewing and why didn't they contact my estate agent about chain!

I viewed a property with Milo on 31st January 20. Said I would like to go ahead so I gave all my details to a lady in the office. Milo called me on the eve and said he couldn't get a hold of the landlord but would keep trying. By the monday I still hadn't received a call from him so I called and a lady answered and she said Milo had said he would call me if he had managed to speak to the landlord. It's been 9 days now since my viewing and I still haven't received a call from Milo. Luckily I have found a property with another letting agents and the customer service has been brilliant. Maybe Milo couldn't contact the landlord in those 9 days but to not receive a call from him to say he hasn't is a joke!

Have had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with Kelly, who is extremely rude and has no customer service skills. It's ashame as her behaviour let's the whole branch down, who mostly seem to be helpful and friendly. I dealt with Kelly on renting a flat, her behaviour then was atrociously rude and when recently booked a flat viewing via Emily, I then rang the next day to ask about more info. on the flat and had Kelly answer and suddenly, rudely say the viewing was not going on anymore giving me no explanation or apology. I then had to probe her for the reason, she said the branch isn't open Saturdays, to which I said I knew they do as I had previously viewed lettings with them on Saturdays - what's with the rudeness and lying? I then rang back a few minute later, Kelly answered and I told her I would like to make a complaint to the Branch Manager about her attitude, she told me she is the Branch Manager (which I doubt and would be shocked if it was true given her terrible attitude), so I then requested the info. of the Area Lettings Director, to which she said she would send me, she hasn't sent me this - what an obnxiousl girl she is, learn some manners Kelly, I'm a customer, it's not rocket science, it's basis life skills! I shall perserver to get my complaint through and Kelly disciplined!

Amazing customer service. The phones are picked up immediately and the staff are incredibly helpful. They went out of their way to call me with answers to any questions I had about the property both before and after the viewing, often multiple times if I couldn't pick up straight away. When I couldn't make a viewing, they very kindly sent an agent ahead to film around the property and sent it by email. I have been renting a property through Your Move for around 3 years and have had to pay £120 each time to renew the contract for another fixed term to ensure security.
We have now got to a point where we don't need the security of a fixed term contract so I sent an email to inform them we would like to exercise our rights to move on to a rolling monthly contract. I was told that we were unable to move onto one because our landlord's mortgage stipulates the rental must be on a fixed term contract, but that they could offer me the choice of a Fixed Term with a break clause.
We were never told we would be subject to constant fixed term contracts.
I asked what the difference was between a rolling monthly contract or a fixed contract with a one month break clause from the perspective of the mortgage provider but that can't seem to be answered.
The last I heard from them was that they "must insist" that we pay and sign for the renewal. I have told them they need to familiarise themselves with The Housing Act to realise that they cannot force us to do this. If they choose to begin the process of evicting tenants who have always paid their rent on time, always looked after the property - purely because we refuse to renew and pay their precious £120 fee, that is up to them! It is clear that this is what all of this is really about!
I can only imagine how many people who don't know their rights have been bullied into signing contract after contract and then ended up in situations where their circumstances have changed and they've been trapped in a contract they can't get out of without paying even more fees.
I am still yet to hear back from Your Move regarding this issue, but felt I had to post this for anybody else who doesn't think they have any options beyond what Your Move tell them.

Flat was in an absolute state when we first started renting. What followed was delays on maintenance(3 months to fix one thing), delays on returning our deposit finished with charging us £120 for the pleasure of ending our tenancy. I have no idea what that £120 goes towards since we paid for the cleaning ourselves(as you would expect) so presumably it was £120 to look at the tidy flat and tick a box.

Within a matter of hours of contacting her about a vacant flat to let, she swung into action and had found a good tenant that same day. Incredible! This is not the first time she has done this. She works with tireless efficiency, and even in busy periods she always answers emails, phonecalls etc. and does all she can, working hard to move an application forward. YM Plymouth Lettings department manage our full rental portfolio. They do a great job finding tenants and managing them whilst they rent. They even take care of maintenance for us. Absolutely terrible. Incredibly rude and greasy staff who are threatening and bullying, do not care if you tell them about medical issues, try to force entrance to the property without 24 hours notice (I'm very lucky I didn't agree to return keys before the end of my tenancy as they requested), fees that far exceed every other agent in the area (we paid £550 in non refundable fees to move into a flat costing less than that a month - they don't inform you of this until after they've pressured you into sending referencing fees to secure the property), try to charge a tenancy renewal fee despite the landlord specifically asking them not to, told me that one person was coming to view my flat and 10(!) people showed up at once, the list goes on... Read the reviews.
My landlord was absolutely lovely but I advise landlords and tenants alike not to use this company, as its making the landlords look bad and I'm certain is charging them a lot.

Absolutely disgusting service experienced. Agreed to rent a flat on the condition that it was cleaned and the bathroom was tiled pre contract. Travelled 50 miles to pick up the keys to (hopefully) move in, to then being told they have no idea what they keys are for whilst being handed them, to then taking 25 minutes to open the front door of the flat as it was very stiff (we were not told this as when we viewed the flat we went through the back door entrance and they supposedly didn't have the keys for the front at the time. We were also greeted by 10,000 mountain bikes in the communal hallway so no idea how we would of gotten our furniture through, can see why they didn't show us through the front on viewing????). We asked for a second viewing a couple of days after the first just to make thorough checks and to see if we were sure and if anything was done to it through cleaning etc, however the landlord supposedly had the keys and was very busy... but going into the flat nothing was done of which was said was going to be done, bearing in mind this was all signatured off to be completed, so they breached the contract of the tenancy and this is very bad for an estate agent to do! They're below average and very blunt and unprofessional when replying to your emails/questions. Would NOT recommended this estate agents, unless of course you want a dirty and mouldy house. Later that day we complained to the manager of Your Move, whilst she just sat their and smirked at us and took a very sarcastic approach about it, saying she couldn't do anything about the flat. After some doing and some progressive and very tiring complaining we eventually got our tenancy cancelled with the deposit refunded, however the fees were not. Definitely would not advise Your Move Plymouth.

I had a couple of viewing last week of which weren't quite what I was looking for. I spoke to Helen and she took on board all of my requests. (2 bedrooms, a bath & somewhere really nice within my budget) she rang me on Monday & arranged an out of hours viewing o the very same day. I went to view & wow everything I wanted & in a lovely location. They have done all of the referencing etc and I get my KEYS 2morro Thursday. All of this in just 3 days. My experience with Your Move whilst trying to purchase a flat from a re possession was a little daunting at times. Kelly Dillon from Your Move Mannamead, Plymouth was brilliant, she found out more information in 10 minutes that i had been waiting for over a month for my solicitor to find out, and in-fact we ended up advising the solicitor. I really appreciated everything that Kelly did she went beyond the call of duty and made the purchase as stress free as possible. I hope Kelly's hard work and dedication to my purchase was financially rewarding for her, in my opinion Kelly deserves to be at the top of her game and one of the higher earners in her chosen profession. I have bought and sold many properties in my lifetime but found Kelly to be the most informative, friendly and all round professional. I will not hesitate in using Kelly for further purchases in the future.

If renting - STAY AWAY!! I wish I could give them ZERO stars. They have repeatedly misinformed us about the cleanliness of the property we moved to, they lied about giving us a long term tenancy (6 months instead of at least 12), They told me that they had given me the tenancy contract when they hadn't even issued me a copy. They refused to fix an ancient broken rear door, they refused to arrange for cleaning the carpets after our shower was left in a dangerous state. Do yourself a favour, pick ANY other estate agent.

I have been very happy with the service with Yourmove in Mutley. Gina has been managing our purchase and has been positive, helpful and proactive. It wasn't a massively quick process (but I think these things rarely are) but it was problem free and smoother than I could've hoped for. I am a first time buyer so this was all new to me, but it was made nice and simple. I would be keen to use Yourmove in the future based on the service I have received. As the buyer I didn't get a choice in who the house was for sale with, but at the end of the process I am happy it was Yourmove.

lt was a long and painful road selling my house due to a marital breakdown. lt wasnt made any easier with conveyancing solicitors who l could never get hold of for help.But one big positive to your move and in particular a lady called Georgina Toms who went above and beyond her role as an agent to try and make the sale as smooth as possible for me and everyone else involved. Contacted this company to either sell or rent out our property after being with various estate agents who really disappointed us with their lethargy and disinterest. What breath of fresh air this company is. They were running late by about 5 mins for their first meeting and they(Helen) phoned to say they had hit traffic which gave me comfort that I was dealing with a company that cared about customer service. They took photos on the day and things moved very quickly with us being kept up to date all along. within 2 days Kelly had arranged a viewing where I met the prospective tenants. following this the house is now rented out and I cannot praise the service we have received enough. Disrespectful and undertrained agents. Trespassed twice in my home! No notification or even a knock. Just barged in. Their response: "We can do as we please as we have the landlord's permission". You'd think they'd be aware of UK law regarding inspections and viewings but obviously this place is run by undertrained staff. If this happens again I will be calling the police.

Beware: Your Move are trading as Home and Student Link.
My partner had this agency for 1 year as a student in Plymouth. Throughout the year many issues with the house occurred, which were often ignored or responded to months later. These included serious issues such a leaking ceiling (which eventually fell through) and faulty kitchen appliances which safety checks were out of date.
Moreover, in the days before she left, their personal contractor visited without 24 hours notice. This not being a particular issue to a group of students, HOWEVER, he did take the hoover in the house??? Why you ask? It can only be assumed to be an elaborate plot to hinder the cleaning efforts of the group, to force charges from the students deposits. Bit sly that.
The company then proceeded to charge £180 of £250 deposit. They even charged for items that were never on the original inventory list. Also charging for stains which were on the inventory upon arrival. This company has without doubt lied and tried to take money whenever they could.
Utter incompetence. Your Move: the lack of effort and care of the office staff and the contractors.

If you are a student or parent of a student then I urge you to stay away from this outfit. They offer no protection with their rental proprties against unscrupulous landlords. They are happy to take money for cleaning, damages etc but expect the tenants to live in sub-standard, dirty properties.

For quite a few years I've used Your Move to buy and sell a number of properties and also used them to find new tenants.
Recently I decided to sell one of my flats in Plymouth but I have been most disappointed with what has happend.
One day I went to the property and found that they had left some lights on, after showing round a prospective purchaser. I went to complain about the problem, but seemed to get a response that it wasn't their fault.
A number of weeks later they told me that they had found a buyer and a price was agreed. I didn't feel as if I needed to return to the property as I had turned the heating down to zero switched off the cooker and cleaned everything out except a fridge. A number of weeks later I was told that the new purchasers did not want to buy the fridge so I decided to remove it from the property. Along with a friend I went to collect the fridge but to our amazement we went into the flat to find the heating was turned up to 25c. I could not believe the heat in the flat so I went to see the branch manager to complain about it. He told me that the only person besides their staff who had been into the flat was a surveyor.
Someone had turned the heating up and it wasn't me!!!
An email was sent to the surveyor and he replied that it wasn't him, and the manager sent me a copy of the email. I then ask the manager for a response as I had received a utility bill for £140 and suggested that perhaps as a jesture of good will Your Move might pay half the bill.
I didnt get a reply until I prompted the manager a couple of weeks later, and then he said that he would ask the staff about it.
Here I am a further month later and still no response from the manager. If nothing else I would have hoped that I might get a reply from him but nothing.
I will not be using Your Move to find any tenants or to sell any of my properties in the future.
I find their Managers lack of communtcation terrible, and the fact that they take no responsibility what so ever about what happens to a clients property. It's sad that this has happened after nearly seven years of trading with them, but I would recommend for anyone to seriously consider before signing on the dotted line with Your Move. I would no longer recommend them.

AS A LANDLORD do not use this company, I paid them the full maintenance package for my flat rental, they ended up finding a foreign student with no reference who destroyed the place and they didn't even realise he left the property and stop paying me! They also lied about the 6 month visit that they apparently conducted! The service I got was disgusting and after all this they tried to bill me for other items! I can't stress enough there is no way you should consider them, please read other views and reviews! Money grabbing waste of space!!!

Worst ever possible agents I have ever dealt with. Whether lettings, or, sales. I have worked in lettings and sales and never have such conducted of negligence, service, or customer care. Including their that Your Move Property Management.
Unreturned telephone calls and emails. There are problems here with individual flats (3 in total), with the stench of drugs, noise, bicycle and motor bike (which is a hazard on several levels), blocking both entrance and access to gas, water electricity meters and access to property and flat. Which obviously has consequences with bills.
There is no support at all.
I have reported remedial issues (non of which I caused). Including, no smoke/fire/carbon/ fire alarm,or fire doors to my flat.
This does not help with the neighbourhood issues. Which only began to realise after moving in in March 2015.
I had to have a guarantor, which I was not informed of the cost of £120.00 extra. Money you do not have at the time. Be wary.
There were no instructions regarding halogen hob, oven, water, electricity, gas meters. I did not receive an inventory until 10 days later!
Lack of information prior to deposit and moving in was stressful to say the least..
I have just spoken with head office to have a 'rolling contract',due to the fact that I'm moving in the next couple of months to a permanent home. Will see what happens.

I privately rented a property for 3 years when the landlord handed over management to Your Move, within a few weeks of this happening a very rude woman phoned me up and told me that I would have to pay to register with them and then pay so that they could carry out a credit check on me otherwise I would be evicted. I said no chance that wasn't what I agreed with the landlord, however they continued to call me once a week to tell me to go in and see them, they even phoned my parents to tell them to tell me! It got to the point where I was ignoring their calls and looking for a new place to live, HORRIBLE COMPANY who think bullying is a successful way of carrying out business!

Please avoid. They are not only a bad agency but will take part of your deposit at the end of the tenancy and trick you every time they can. Being renting for over 14 years, first time I had issues. You are warned.

Atrocious customer service. Have had my property on the market with this firm for several months, but consistently disappointed. They have failed to follow basic instructions.They have arrived up to 24hrs early, let themselves in sometimes with no notice at all, ask me the same questions repeatedly, deny they have been given keys and have also lied to my wife and I on several occasions. To make things even worse, the Branch Manager was very patronising and defensive when confronted, agreed that I should find another agent, and declined to give a formal written apology. Clearly needs a refresher in dealing with customer complaints, and also team leading. Will be taking this much further. Avoid at all costs! Pity I cannot leave zero stars!

DO NOT USE!! We were made to pay hundreds of pounds and promised everything by a very manipulative agent who told us she was in constant contact with the landlord but had actually only ever sent one email! She knew we were a young family and I had only recently finished uni so did not have the money to do anything about what they were doing. We will never use this agency again, they have absolutely no good intentions and will squeeze every little penny out of you. As a result we were made to move into a property that was unsafe, overpriced with a landlord who was rude and unhelpful!

Terrible. Very unprofessional, very unorganised. Made moving very very stressful! We was told to pick the keys up for the flat first thing in the morning, we arrived at 9.00 am and they said they were all having a meeting and we could not get the keys until 10.30 am! When we finally received the keys and entered my new flat we were very disappointed and upset - it was left unimaginably dirty and damp. The inventory list even had false pictures. Despite making serval complaints we received nothing back and not even an apology.
Yourmove also charge a fee of £120.00 if you wish to extend your contract, stating it is for administration fees. What they fail to let you know is that they also provide a month by month rolling contact which is FREE! Our landlord had to told us this. He asked us not to pay the £120.00 as he has to match the cost, meaning Yourmove pocket £240.00 for "administration costs". Your move even phoned our landlord to say that we were happy to pay the changes despite not even phoning us!
The service we have received has been terrible! We will NEVER consider using Yourmove again.

Terribly unprofessional. The agent failed to show up to meet me for a booking, which left me standing out in the rain. When I came into the office (in Exeter) to complain, the lettings manager, Kim Forte, could not have been more rude or unhelpful. She seemed to think that 30 mins was enough notice that they weren't turning up, but I'd unfortunately already left work and didn't get the message. This, to Kim, was apparently my fault. Good thing there are plenty of other agents in Exeter and I won't need to use their services.

So so bad. Let me start with the charges, they charge you £100 ish if after 6 months you want to stay or leave. And then after that term you'll have to pay £100 pound if you wish to leave the property. secondly the service is awful, we had problems with damp and it took forever for some come to come and have a look at it and after turning up to take some pictures nothing was done and after 3 e-mails i'm still trying to get hold of the typical sales "yeah yeah yeah all good, no problems. we offer great customer service, sign here...............never answers her phone again" sales person, we still haven't had a reply. I would honestly avoid this company at all costs.
