After my parents passed away I had to sell their property. I contacted Abbotts in Downham Market and I found them to be very helpful, understanding and professional from beginning to end.
The house sold within a week but unfortunately the buyer dropped out due to a very long 28 week probate wait. However, the day probate was granted I instructed Abbotts to put the house back on the market and it was sold in under 48 hours.
I dealt mainly with Steven Bond and he was the star of the show, nothing was too much trouble for him.

Had a very poor experience trying to collect keys to my first house with this branch. We were due to complete on a Friday but called ahead to let them know we'd be over Saturday afternoon to collect keys. When called on completion day I alerted a 2nd member of staff we'd be coming Saturday afternoon and not right away. We'd be driving from Oxford (3 hours away) so wanted to make sure they were definitely expecting us.
We arrive 2:35pm Saturday to an empty branch, wait 90 mins before calling around to see if anyone from other branches can get in touch with the DM agents as they close at 4. The Norwich branch managed to call the DM agent who confirmed out on a Valuation but back soon as only 10-15 mins away and coming back to branch before finishing for the day. An hour then passes so it's 5pm and still no agent.
We waited 2.5 hours on an afternoon when they knew we were coming to collect keys and nothing. Lied to the Norwich branch that they would be coming soon. Thankfully no chain so we hadn't arranged removal vans for that day as I have no idea what we'd have done if all our belongings were packed up.
To top it all off while waiting the extra hour between 4-5pm my car was driven into in the nearby car park.
6 hours of driving, a wasted day & a damaged car later I get a call from Ollie the branch manager basically saying "yeah, sorry about that, see you next week"
Happy to prioritise new business over fulfilling remaining obligations from a previous sale.

The people we dealt with were very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help! BUT ...... we also had to deal with the 'in house' conveyancing agent Conveyancing Direct' what a rude unhelpful person George was!!!! We'll never use that company again for fear we end up with him, dreadful man!

We recently had a rental property let by William H Brown Downham. The property isn’t managed by them. Sophie Hennells was fantastic from start to finish even with my anxious harassment nothing was too much trouble.
The process went smoothly and we found her particularly accommodating which was fantastic considering she is currently working alone. Couldn’t recommend them enough. The little gift box given on signing full off goodies was a particularly nice touch. Well done Sophie keep up the good work!!

Absolutely shocking service. Never any communication. Constantly having to chase via phone and email to get answers, even though I am paying them roughly £100 pcm to ‘manage’ my property. Keep taking extra money from rent for extras when told twice that I don’t want any extras at all. Kerrie promised the most amazing service when I decided to go with abbots, after telling her the previous bad experience with lettings agents but she doesn’t seem to know what she’s doing at all, no one does!
Still waiting for a response from early last week, have chased 4 times with no answer.
Wouldn’t recommend Abbots at all - stay well clear.

As soon as we met Steve Huff we knew he was someone we were keen to work with. This was our first property purchase and everything seemed daunting and foreign to us- until we met Steve! As our mortgage advisor, he was the first person who demystified the process. He talked through all of our options clearly, in detail and in terms which were really easy to grasp. He has a reassuring demeanour and an extremely comprehensive knowledge of his field. He answered any and all of our questions and was clearly concerned by finding the right solution for our particular situation. Aside from doing a fantastic job, we found Steve to be really approachable - it can be a stressful process at times and it’s good to have someone who is cheerful and friendly in your corner when you are feeling out of your depth!

Circumstances changed and we were able to move back to the UK so put the search on hold, not an issue and despite not having paid Steve a penny, he was still happy to maintain our file and wait until we were in a position to buy again. A few months later, solid advice and we had an offer in on a house and a mortgage offer in hand but, unfortunately purchase fell through, again, no issue for Stephen and yet again he was helpful and patient while we continued the search. When we finally found the one we wanted we needed another mortgage offer - easily sourced by Stephen. Finally completed earlier this week and in no small part thanks to Stephen Huff and the team. Highly recommend the use of a mortgage advisor and especially Abbotts.

Me and my partner were going through the process of buying our perfect first home through Abbott’s, we viewed the house and put in an offer for the asking price which was accepted the same day! We were over the moon until I received a call 5 days later saying we had been gazzumped and our offer had then been declined. We felt completely unsupported by Abbott’s, as first time buyers we are pretty clueless on any processes, to be told on the phone by Greg “we’re giving you the opportunity to put in a higher offer” like they were doing me a favour. Unfortunately, we couldn’t afford to go any higher. I know gazzumping isn’t illegal, but any reputable company would not have put so much pressure on anxious first time buyers to make such a quick decision on thousands of pounds with little to no support in a matter of minutes. Hope we never have to deal with these immoral estate agents again.

These people have taken £ 120 this month- without our permission l from our tenant’s rent this month - this was purportedly for a yet to be completed gas safety inspection. They had no right to take this sum but now say it could take a while for it to be reimbursed. ! Why I do not know. ! Don’t touch this company. I have owned a cottage in Southery (near Downham Market) for several years and which I purchased as a rental investment. I have used Abbotts as my Letting Agents throughout this period.
As I live over a hundred miles away it is important to have a Letting Agent I can trust. I have always found Abbotts to be very helpful and professional in the service they provide.
Recently I have had some new tenants move in and Gemma Cribb at Abbotts has handled that process very efficiently. I am most grateful to Gemma for all the work she undertook and for keeping me informed throughout.
Abbotts charges are not the cheapest, but they do provide an excellent service and accordingly I believe those charges are justified.

Abbotts did a really good job of selling two properties we had in the area. Over many years I've experienced many agents when both buying and selling. To be honest most were ineffective and some useless. In contrast Ian. Ollie and Janet did a great job. Nothing was too much trouble and they kept my wife and I in touch with the sales at all times. You really would not get this service from a well known colourful on-line agent.

I've rented properties from two other agents before and Abbotts, being the third, are by far the worst in all aspects.
To begin with the fee's they charge are ludicrous, being way over anything I've ever previously paid and anywhere I've spoken ti since. To give them some credit they did lower them after I complained, but it just goes to show that they really don't have to charge the high fee's - they just hope people will just pay it without asking questions.
PLEASE DO NOT PAY THE FIRST APPLICATION FEE THEY QUOTE!!! (No idea how it can cost £400 to print out some documents and show someone around!?)
Over the course of my tenancy they were very poor at getting back to me about any issues I had (I've actually been moved out a month now and I'm still waiting for someone to get back to me about how I can put in a formal compalaint, same old story... they don't do what they say they will) - as I've not heard anything I've decided to put reviews online instead to show others the level of service you get with Abbotts.
The worst part was when I had a situation where the landlady and letting agent came to my property uninvited demanding to come in. They arranged a days worth of viewings without my knowledge and as I work from home I was able to catch them out! Apparently I had given them the go ahead to do this, which is funny because as I work at home I would never agree to this. They are liars.
I have since rented with another letting agent and I have to say the contrast between the 2 companies is clear. The fee's are half the price of Abbotts, the service is great and they are really quick and getting back to you in a timely and friendly manner. All things that Abbotts sadly lack.
I would advise anyone thinking of using them to avoid, it will save you a lot of money, time and stress.

I have no knowledge of the dealings of the rest of the company, either at this location or any other for that matter, so take this with a grain of salt.
Our experience was horrendous while working with a specific agent. The different branches of the same company don't work with each other, rather independently of one another. Communications with this agent were both far and few between and lacking in clear information. The agent was never available until she needed anything and answered questions (if at all) very cryptically. We had questions and concerns that we didn't feel were being acknowledged and later found were just being silently addressed, though not to the level/direction that we desired.
When we showed up finally for the signing, it could not have been apparent that the agent had other places to be and better things to be doing. We were clearly an inconvenience to her and she could not get out of the property soon enough!
You can bet that should we need to let or buy any thing else in the future, it will certainly NOT be with this agent, and likely not with this company either.
