I selected this agent because the manager gave me excellent reassurances and confidence during the valuation of my home and my initial telephone conversations. He said all the right things, was eloquent in his communications and I was confident I had chosen well. However, Connells of Buckingham town was slow in getting my property to market, it took four weeks from my initial instruction 25th July until my house was listed on the websites 23rd Aug. They were slow in getting the for-sale sign up outside my property, when it arrived it was dirty and damaged. This was not resolved even though I requested numerous times for a new sign. Messages I left were not returned and I constantly had to chase. Emails were not responded to promptly. I was told this was because it was the summer holidays and the office was understaffed during this time of year. My emails were frequently bounced back with out of office responses from the staff. The initial photos were poor and not fit for purpose. The second set were far better but this was many weeks down the line. During 10 weeks from the date of initial instruction only two viewings were arranged. I frequently raised concerns and excuses were repeatedly given blaming external agencies. I will quote the responses I received from the branch manager:
"I can assure you that the for-sale board was ordered and requested to be cleaned through the online portal multiple times. I don’t know why this wasn’t sorted out by the external company with the number of requests from ourselves"
"Regarding photos again with this being outsourced to a professional photography company I feel the issue is with this company and not ourselves. As you can imagine it is incredibly difficult for me to control what photos are taken and to what standard"
Finally, when I asked to terminate the contact as I felt Connells were clearly not the agent I was expecting. I was informed that I had to give them notice in writing followed by a 28 day 'cooling off' period. At the start of these 28 days, my property was promptly removed from the websites (first time they had achieved anything with speed!) but their tatty for-sale sign remains at the front of my house. It has not been removed.
All in all I'm amazed that this agent receives positive reviews. I presume the service given on their rental side is far better and I have just been unlucky.
There was one member of staff who I felt was reliable and had integrity in her interactions with me and that was Karen. Unfortunately her hours were part time so she was often unavailable. I can also remark favourably to the regular updates I received about the amount of 'hits' my property was receiving on one of the portals they marketed on. This information was helpful.
All in all the overall experience was disappointing. I still need to sell my property but I'm tied in until the 28 days have passed before I can instruct another agent. I would have loved to have given a positive review but sadly I cannot.

Connells in Buckingham MK18 are truly exceptional. When we started we were thinking to let the property for one year, but now it is in the eighth year. Jane, the letting negotiator is fantastic with full knowledge of the letting. After seven years we have new tenants. Jane completed everything smoothly with our minimum involvement. Sarah is wonderfully looking after the property for any maintenance work. She always calls dedicated contractors who are very efficient and reliable. We have never experienced any issue. They are very helpful. We couldn't be more happy than the service we received from Connells and we will definitely recommend them to all who are thinking to let their property. In the lettings department Jane Riddiford wasn't too patient with the property I was inquiring for. She was rushing us to make a deal and when requesting a written agreement she refused since she wanted it to be verbal instead. When asking for other properties they have in the area she didn't respond and did not try helping us find other places that were available. Overall bad experience for me despite constantly seeing good reviews for her.

What a journey but we got there! The team at Connells are professional yet personable. Connells Buckingham sold my property and I have just completed today. 47 days from start to finish, amazing work from the team. After months on the market with another agent, these guys marketed my property swiftly and clearly worked hard to get the interest, leading to a successful sale. Alex & Max were particularly great with communication, always ensuring I was in the loop at every stage, making what could have been a stressful process, pretty straight forward!

Don't bother renting with these folks. Even the simplest repairs take months to get done. You're having to chase up their allusive contractors only to be told they'd forgotten. You'll see pigs fly before you see any job being completed.
As always renters become a second thought once you've coughed up more than 50% of your monthly wages to pay for the rent.

Whilst I rarely write reviews, I would like to say that the Lettings team have been extremely helpful throughout the process of securing new tenants for a rental property. This was particularly challenging in that we were trying to manage 'remotely' and through no fault of theirs, the process presented random challenges. The team, particularly David, went above and beyond to ensure deadlines were met.

Terrible estate agent. I tried repeatedly to arrange a viewing of a house in Brackley and was messed around and fobbed off. As a cash buyer, I have zero idea what their issue with me was. I found this estate agent very unprofessional, discriminatory and rude. I feel sorry for the seller as weeks later the property is still on the market! (Also stop removing legitimate reviews! I can prove every aspect of my complaint). Terrible estate agent. Rude and unethical behaviour.

Avoid the Lettings team, Sales is great, though.
We've bought our first home through Connells and it was a smooth operation. It was just logical to use the same agency for letting as well. Couldn't be more wrong about it. They put up the ad with misleading information to start with, constant delay in communication or no communication at all, which being an overseas landlord gave us hard time. Poor management and very quick turnover in staff members, resulting in lack of professionalism and a very poor information flow between the different departments (accounts, property management, local branch).
I would definitely not recommend the Lettings department.
