We had a wonderful experience selling with Curchods. The whole team was great and clearly worked extremely hard, as we had multiple viewings booked almost immediately after putting the house on the market with them!
Our house was under offer within 10 days of being launched, and with a huge thanks particularly to Kat, who really did go above and beyond to expedite up and down the chain, we were able to move as swiftly and smoothly as possible!
There might be estate agents out there who will charge a slightly smaller commission but in our experience you get what you pay for, and we couldn't be happier with our experience with Curchods.

It was Feb ‘22 when we decided to sell our house through Curchods Guildford. We made the decision based simply on the fact that they seemed to market the most properties in the area we were looking to buy and Garry (who came out to value our property) made us feel as though we’d be in safe hands. It turned out to be the best decision we could have made. It’s been a VERY challenging time to sell a house and buy another one - very little on the market, huge competition for every property - plus we had a tiny search area and needed to buy and sell within a tight timeframe.
Fortunately, Ben Williams was put in charge of our sale and he really went the extra mile. Over the months it’s taken to get to the point of exchange, he’s responded to every one of my relentless emails with dedication, professionalism and the optimistic belief that we’d get there in the end. We simply wouldn’t have succeeded in selling our house in time and at the price we wanted if it hadn’t been for Ben working tirelessly on our behalf.

Always conscious that any estate agent always represents / is paid by the seller not the buyer… however, Curchods strike that balance extremely well, and as a buyer we felt that Ben & team were very fair in also representing and guiding our interests and helpful in trying to coordinate all parties (lawyers, us, sellers etc) and push things along & unblock any issues between Offer and Exchange/Completion.
For any prospective sellers it’s also worth mentioning that they value and guide sellers well in terms of asking price - rather than promise the world (and therefore achieve disappointment when offers are not forthcoming), they value fairly but conservatively in order to generate interest and multiple offers so that you’re pushed to give your highest possible price in order to outbid others. In the Guildford market where there is healthy demand and limited supply, that is a good strategy and why we would use Curchods if we were selling.
For those interested, we paid over asking, and I’m sure the vendors were very happy, but equally I don’t feel we overpaid. Curchods created an environment where the ‘market price’ was achieved - being the highest price of a number of credible bidders (there was a higher offer, but Curchods correctly advised the vendors that we were in a much better position re chain free etc).
As I say, the best compliment I can give them is that having experienced and gotten to know a number of different agents and their different styles & ‘strategies’ in our 6 month search for our house, Curchods would be the first agent we would pick up the phone to if in due course we ever want or need to sell.

And, most importantly, they found us several buyers very quickly and helped direct us to those who were excellently positioned to proceed, as well as being honourable, patient and understanding, and who stood by their (increased) offer steadfastly. We never felt out of the picture at all or that we weren’t listened to - no praise would be too high - everyone should hope for these guys to be on their side, managing their sale. The team at Curchods Guildford sold my property during the pandemic in 2020/2021 and I have nothing but good things to say about Garry, Matthew, Chris and the rest of the team.
I initially had two agents round to value my property. Instead of giving a fluffy sales pitch, Garry provided evidence on why they would be best placed to sell my property, giving info on where they get their buyers from, how many properties like mine they had sold recently and how long they took to sell. He also discussed my own requirements in terms of speed of sale and took that into account when providing a valuation, explaining why he suggested that price level. On putting my property on the market with them, I had accepted an offer within a week.
The process after that was a little slower, owing to delays caused by the pandemic, and a less than competent conveyancer and mortgage broker on the buyer's side. But throughout Garry, Matthew and Chris kept me updated. Calling pretty much weekly even if it was just to let me know there unfortunately wasn't any news. I always felt that they were keeping on top of things, which was really reassuring as you can feel a bit helpless when selling your property! They even provided advice on my ongoing purchase, even though it was out of the area and therefore not through them.
The last few weeks to get to exchange were stressful to say the least, but Matthew in particular was great at keeping my updated, liaising with my solicitor and generally putting in all the hours to get us over the final hurdle. If I'm ever back in the area I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

From a Buyer's perspective, I found the team here quite accomadating with regards to viewings, and very responsive to enquiries The same cannot be said for local competitors whom after i showed no interest in a property they were trying to sell, all communication ceased.
Professional at all times, they also understood that we as buyers, especially first time buyers, may not know the ins and outs of the process of purchasing a property and at no point was i belittled or made to feel stupid for my queries. This is a significant investment both mentally and fiscally, and it was really appreciated how any questions were answered.
If patience is a virtue, then Mr Matthew Addison-Smith is a saint. Helpful at all times, it is with regret my transaction took longer than most but we persevered. I know that when the time comes to move on in a few years, who i will be asking for to handle the sale.

We also had great service from the conveyancing solicitors HPL (Home Property Lawyers) who we were impressed with that we used them again for our susbsequent house purchase which di go through. On Marketing, Curchods did a good job of getting people in to see the property. We felt the viewings were a bit disorganised at times, but on the whole were happy with the marketing. They were very good during the conveyancing process, chasing up as required and trying to move things along. The feedback on progress seemed to be overly optimistic at times, but their tenacity helped get us through to completion.

We are really pleased with the service Curchods has offered us. We had a few chain breaks along the way and they were quick and efficient in finding replacement buyers and getting our house sold. Great service throughout, from initial appraisal of our property and proposed valuation (less than we wanted, but more realistic) through production of sales literature (very good; captured the essence of the property and its potential in words and pictures) and arranging purchaser appointments. We struck lucky, with eight appointments on the first weekend after the property went 'live', and an offer the following week which we accepted. Curchods insist on the vendors being absent during purchaser visits, and this proved much better than having us hovering in the background (purchasers are, not unnaturally, more inclined to make more honest observations if it's just the agent present). Curchods gave us detailed feedback from each viewing; and after the offer was accepted, they were invaluable in keeping us informed (and reassured) and helping move matters along. There were a few hiccups along the way - there always are with house sales - but no major problems and we exchanged contracts about 15 weeks after the initial viewings (it could have been sooner, but we encountered delays with our onward purchase).
