Buyer Beware!!!!
We offered full asking price on a property , was told that same day the vendor would be delighted to accept our offer, this was followed up by an email confirming the above asking for proof of identity solicitors details etc thus allowing them to send out the memorandum of sale.
The property was then advertised as sold subject to contract.. off the market!
Job done you would imagine.
A weekend spent believing the property was ours and moving forward on that basis.
The following Monday we were greeted with a voicemail telling us another offer following our accepted one was now being considered offering over and above the asking price and that they were legally obliged to put it forward, ha ha ha !!
One would of hoped the days of estate agents encouraging and facilitating the act of Gazumping was over…
We were cash buyers
If you are looking for an agent adapt at the above look no further…
