I am very pleased that I had to deal with Mr Giles Sparkes from Foxtons in Guildford because he was 100% dedicated, professional, he has excellent communication skills and made me feel comfortable and confident when he was dealing with the sale of my property and especially during the process to exchange and completion where he coordinated everyone so well.

I have met Daniel Berber when I was looking for a place to rent. I’ve been here in the UK for 3months and it’s quite hard to search and look for house to rent. Of all the agents I’ve met, he’s the only one I’ve given a google review. This is because he is the BEST! He was incredibly communicative! Very warm and approachable. He will answer calls and emails and will keep you informed about the development/ progress. I would definitely recommend him and will not hesitate to come back to him in case I need to search for properties to rent again. He is amazing! He also provided support beyond just the transaction/negotiation. His genuine care is within him and he is simply the best.
Foxton is lucky to have him, same with all the clients he helped and he will help in the future.

Update: Whilst their ex landlord is fine about handing back the deposit Foxtons are now trying to double dip on the brokerage fees by re renting this apartment to another couple. It doesn’t cost Foxtons £1000 in their time to find new people nor does it make any sense that they should be compensated for refusing to fix the hot water at place they are responsible for letting.
Foxtons is a company that is bullying international people into 24 month contracts, giving them false information about the rental market and even suggesting they pay more LMAO.
Contrary to their flamboyant statements that places go in a day the Guildford market is not that hot and listings do tend to hang around for a few weeks to a month.
It’s ludicrous to imagine that Foxtons having failed to manage the property having engineers not show up and saying to tenants oh the landlord can’t be arsed to buy a new boiler or invest in the property so live with it should then have the audacity to double dip on fees.
I’m writing this review because my friend has been treated badly by this company. She had to move out because the landlord refused to fix the hot water which is a legal obligation of a landlord to do so. Foxtons found another tenant but is now withholding her deposit to cover additional fees. Foxtons knows full well the obligations that are the landlords responsibility yet allowed this landlord to behave in a manner that is sub par. Foxtons failed to communicate additional charges to her in advance and it screams money grab. They should have forfeited their own fee as they brokered a property that isn’t compliant with the UK rental standards. It was their job in the first place on the moving in check to ensure that there was adequate hot water at the property.
Another thing I found shady was that they made sure everything was off the record communicating to them that the landlord can’t arsed to fix issues. They did this so when they double dipped on fees they punished my friend for daring to vacate an inhabitable property. They didn’t need to double dip on fees and it’s super upsetting they did this to a friendly Canadian couple. It’s sleazy behaviour of an estate letting agency so when I come to buy a property in Guildford in the premium price bracket I will be contacting Hamptons not Foxtons.
If you are seeking to rent in Guildford and you are not from here avoid this lousy company and go to the ten other estate agents in town like Hamptons. They aren’t to be trusted.

0 Stars is not an option but for Foxtons they should make an exception.
This is one of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with. Every person we've had to deal with came across as ignorant, lazy, or incompetent.
They let an uninhabitable property without doing a proper inspection or going on site themselves. They claim they did but...
When we got there, the flat hadn't been thoroughly cleaned, the hot water does not work, there is almost no water pressure, the smoke detector was not functional, the kitchen curtains are a fire hazard, there is mold in the flat, the shower doesn't work, and the toilet had been replaced but improperly installed. None of this matched the pictures posted by Foxton's website and was completely misrepresented.
They also use underhanded and high pressure tactics to try and close the deal and did not explain our rights and options for a contract. They care purely about volume of customers not about quality of listings or level of service they provide after a deal.
They will not respond to emails or phone you back. You will have to repeatedly call just to get through, only to have them fob you off with some excuse or pass you on to someone else. We've had contact with at least 7 people on their side and exactly one of them did what they said they would do.
From a dedicated maintenance "professional" who doesn't know how to schedule and does not follow up to ensure the job was completed to a senior property manager that I wouldn't trust to oversee a dollhouse who constantly "delegates" but doesn't take accountability or follow up when there has been no reply for days from their representative, anyone we dealt with was a complete nightmare.
When I read articles like "Foxtons has come under fire after a couple found their estate agent had signed them up to lease the wrong property" or "Foxtons charged us £4,000 to find totally unsuitable tenants", I can only think to myself; that sounds like them.
If you are forced to deal with them, God help you, since nobody from Foxtons will.

If I could give this company zero stars I would.
I was looking for a place to live from abroad and regrettably chose Foxtons to aid in my quest to find a place to live prior to starting University in September.
The place I moved into was not as advertised, with the pictures clearly taken when the property was in much better shape.
Upon arrival the place clearly had not been professionally cleaned with dirt and grime throughout. There were cobwebs in the windows, and mold in the bathroom. The hot water and shower was non-functional - something that I raised with Foxtons immediately.
Thus began 30 days of trying to get Foxtons to rectify the situation. Two plumbers came through the property with the second one declaring that the water pressure was abysmal and that it would be substantial work and costs in order to rectify the situation. The landlord refused to fix the problem and essentially Foxton's response to the ongoing concerns were: you signed the contract and that's how it's always been (state of the property).
Ross Henderson was the original realtor I was working with who pushed me to sign the lease on a property that I had not seen in person. He took advantage of my lack of knowledge of the area, and pushed me to offer above the asking price and for a longer term - making it seem that if I didn't I would "lose out" and not find a place to live by the time I arrived in the UK.
Hidaya, the property manger's competency leaves much to be desired. She continued to fail in her role to rectify any of the problems I raised, while often ignoring my calls and emails, and simply stating that "the landlord refused to fix the water issues", passing the blame and trying to separate herself from her obligation to actually do something constructive.
Thankfully I was able to leave the property after a miserable month, and was told multiple times that I would receive my deposit back given the situation and that I had been living at the property for less than 30 days. However, the landlord now refuses to give my deposit back which is illegal, and Foxtons has the audacity to charge me for a breach of contract on a property without functional hot water and a shower!
Overall, Foxtons employs and promotes devious behaviour, relying on deception, pressure, and falsehoods when conducting their business while only caring about making money and taking advantage of clients who may not know their rights as tenants.

Couldn't be happier with the excellent and beyond duty attention received from Margot as we presented a specially challenging situation to her. We went to Guildford for only 6 months and needed a short term rental that also could accept our temporary status as 'tourists' - me and my wife are from Brazil and had to come back after this period, so finding a place that could check all our requirements was really difficult. And we had to do that remotely from our country (I've never set foot in England before).
But Miss Margot not only was incredibly supportive and friendly, but extremely helpful, negotiating with the landlords and keeping ing us informed in all the process, making us to understand all the local requirements. She even made a live view broadcast to show us the properties that we liked the most.
And, I must emphasize that we have tried several other state agencies in the Surrey area but most were totally dismissive when we presented our challenges. We even managed to make friends with another couple that Margot helped in last year, that were in a situation just like ours, thanks to her.
Reading other reviews from Foxton's, it seems that most people get a very good service from them, but what we've got from Miss Margot was nothing short of exceptional.

Experience as a potential house seller. Foxtons charge way more in fees compared to any other estate agent (2.5% final value, compared with 1% at this current time).
They justify this by explaining they convince people who are either international or from a more expensive area, to pay over the odds for it! They use "hard sell" tactics to do this, they don't take no for an answer, even if you are using another agent to sell, and have a good offer with them!
I imagine any buyer who falls for their blagging, will either realise quite soon that they are paying too much by comparing online very easily. Or they will convince the seller to lower the price because of market conditions etc, to what other agents value it as, then charge you the higher fee!
Buyers beware! If you are paying the asking price from these guys, it is way higher than the market price! They openly admit they do this.
Sellers, you are unlikely to get their estimate, and even if you do I can't imagine many buyers stay to completion when they can so easily compare.
They purposefully do not put many pictures or much info up about each property, they want to blag and persuade you rather than give you info, which you may look at then decide you don't like!

Unjustifiable Rent Increase
Throughout my five-year tenancy, my adherence to the agreed rent of £1,350 was met with a stark disregard from Foxtons. Their proposal to escalate the rent to £2,200—a staggering increase of nearly 63%—appeared as nothing short of greed. This demand was made without any corresponding enhancement in property management or maintenance, presenting as a blatant attempt to exploit the housing market at my expense.
Failure to Conduct Maintenance and Repairs
The persistent neglect by Foxtons to address essential repairs and upkeep has been a continuous source of distress. Despite their receipt of management fees, their actions—or rather, the lack thereof—significantly contradicted any commitment to maintaining the property. This disregard ranged from minor fixes to critical maintenance issues, with responses being unacceptably slow or completely absent, exacerbating the property's decline.
Electrical Safety Neglected
The neglect towards the property's electrical safety was shockingly underscored when my son suffered a serious electric shock, resulting from unresolved electrical faults. The response to this alarming incident was grossly inadequate, with more than a week elapsing before an electrician was dispatched. This event was but one example of a broader issue of neglected electrical maintenance, including the malfunctioning radiators and a dangerously faulty hot water control system that remained unaddressed even after an NICEIC inspection. Such oversight not only imperilled our lives but also displayed a disturbing disregard for tenant safety and comfort.
Inefficient Heating System
The property's heating system was profoundly inefficient, further aggravated by Foxtons' failure to replace or adequately repair the radiators that were nearly the cause of a fire. Surviving cold winters without sufficient heating, compounded by Foxtons' apathy towards resolving this issue, significantly impaired our living conditions and underscored their lack of concern for tenant welfare.
Unqualified Property Managers
The capability of the 'property managers' at Foxtons was consistently questionable. Their evident lack of qualifications and experience became apparent in their mishandling of various property issues, from routine maintenance to urgent safety concerns. This deficiency not only compromised effective property management but also raised serious questions about Foxtons' hiring and training practices.
Dishonesty and Deposit Return Issues
The level of dishonesty consistently exhibited by Foxtons, particularly by the property manager Brandon Amechi, has been distressingly pervasive. The saga concerning the return of my deposit is illustrative, marked by repeated falsehoods and evasions regarding the deposit's status. This conduct was not isolated to this issue but was indicative of a pattern of deceit and misinformation that characterised much of my dealings with Foxtons.
Caution to Prospective Tenants and Landlords
The accumulation of issues encountered during my tenancy—from unsafe living conditions and maintenance neglect to outright deceit—illustrates a worrying picture of Foxtons' operational ethics. Prospective tenants and landlords should take heed of these significant concerns. The property at 15 St Margarets London Road, Guildford, GU1 1TJ, serves as a stark example of what tenants may face: inadequate heating, a hazardous electrical setup, and a lack of responsibility from both the letting agent and the landlord.
Conclusion
The decision to rent or let a property through an agent demands careful consideration, guided by both favourable and unfavourable experiences. Regrettably, my time with Foxtons in Guildford, particularly under the management of Brandon Amechi and the ownership of Jocelyne Prudence, was characterised by a series of preventable and distressing problems. This review serves as a word of caution, urging thorough scrutiny and exploration of alternatives before committing to a partnership with Foxtons

I do not appreciate my family being hounded and talked down to over the telephone after we sold our house, twice in one day. We didn't use Foxtons as our agent! However they still felt the need to contact us as our house breifly went back on the market but sold again. Be very wary of getting your house valued by them as they keep tabs on you if you go with another agent and can't wait to belittle and your choice of estate agent and selling price. My advice to Foxtons and Craig is to focus on your own clients instead of spying on us, we are not even your clients! So glad we went with Chantries and Pewleys.

The negative reviews are true - avoid this agency at all costs. I’m genuinely disappointed as in the beginning all of the agents were absolutely lovely and it seemed like they actually care about you, but their behaviour throughout the ordeal proves otherwise. All they care about is your money!
My partner and I were looking to rent a property and the one we wanted to view was being arranged by Foxtons. This is when the continuous phone calls started. We didn’t think anything of it and arranged a viewing. Once a viewing was arranged I was phoned by Foxtons multiple times a day, each time leaving voice mails, specifically at 9AM when I had told them several times I was working and wouldn’t be able to pick up the phone; that didn’t stop them.
They showed us three properties, all out of our budget and none of which included the one we actually wanted to view. We finally decided on a property and the phone calls doubled, as well as CONTINUOUS texting from the letting agency hammering me 24/7 about things they needed me to do. I was given a list of things to do, which I did and was told I didn’t need to do anything more; until the next day when a new list would be sent and that cycle repeated for two weeks straight.
I had a problem with the tenancy agreement and asked for a clause to be taken out - no issue there it was taken out and I was ready to sign. Then I saw our property listed by a DIFFERENT letting agency staring that the water bill was included with the rent - FOXTONS NEVER MENTIONED THIS, I had to find that out myself! So the tenancy agreement was re-written a second time and we signed once more.
My partner and I then went on holiday and we’re told we didn’t need to do anything more within the renting process- by this time I had sent over £3200 to Foxtons and was under the assumption I would be left alone while the landlord sorted things on his end. NOPE! 7 voice mails and tens of texts throughout the holiday. More continuous phone calls and texts saying I needed to complete tasks I had already done , and that I needed to sign the tenancy agreement once more. This was due to the landlord “forgetting to add his wife to the tenancy agreement” which was ridiculous in itself but fine, I’ll sign again.
However this time I asked our particular agent if anything else had been added to the tenancy agreement and I was assured nothing more had been added, only the landlord’s wife’s name. However with further reading that particular clause I had ask to be removed had been added back in! Said clause was such a red flag my partner and I received legal advice due to how open ended and vulnerable that clause would’ve made us.
This entire branch is so unbelievably unorganised, with multiple agents calling and texting me several times a day all asking me to do the same tasks, not telling eachother what has been done, genuinely bombarding myself and my mother (our guarantor) with phone calls specifically during hours they knew we weren’t available, and they never take accountability for their actions. Instead of admitting they were at fault with the new tenancy agreement they blamed their systems and “unexperienced staff” referring to their own agents as “over enthusiastic puppies” (a direct quote from the manager) when at the end of the day they should know with confidence what legal documents they’re sending out.
I have dealt with several letting agencies both in Australia and the UK and I have NEVER experienced such a money hungry, chaotic and disrespectful company in my life. They pitch amazing properties with perfect landlords when at the end of the day they’ll just keep you in the dark, lie to you and harass you. They look at young couples like we’re idiots and we’re genuinely shocked when we rebutted clauses in the tenancy. Do not engage with this business!

Very disappointed for the Foxtons service, i have paid full management to Foxtons for my property and have a sewage blockage problem since December 2022 but sorted the problem at August 2023, which I have already paid over £8500 for the job. I am haven’t received any rent from June until now, i have contacted to the Guildford branch Eleanor Reeve who is in charge my complaint and she is promised to sort out this matter as soon as possible but I am didn’t get response since 26th September 2023 until now.

Never go to Foxtons, especially you want to rent a property, be very careful with these scammers.
There have NO SERVICE after they got your money (I paid over 12 months upfront) no one will reply your email and they will push you to let others to view the property when your contract nearly end. They don't care about your situation at all, even you've told them you are busying on packing and work. Keep calling when you are in the meeting or at work. They just concern when other potential buyer can come and view! I've try to email their manager but no one will care at all. Maybe the agent are allow to be that rude.
Foxtons is the best player to push the tenant to the corner!
I've use the cleaning company which recommended by Foxtons before I move out (paid via MyFoxton), plus I've cleaned the property once before the cleaning company come. Hope can make sure to return a nice property to the landlord. Funny is the landlord want to deduct my deposit because of the Cleanliness issue. When I ask for help, Foxtons didn't care about that!
I would say they would definitely provide GOOD SERVICE to who pay them commission. If you are a landlord, maybe you will get a better service.
Now I own my property and I bought it through Cavender Guildford. I will NEVER GO TO FOXTONS in the future and already asked my friends do not be the next victim.

He scammed us and then we individually had to pay to get the fittings done after moving. Never go to Foxtons, especially international students, be very careful with these scammers.

This agency managed to use my life situation as a means to offload a property in bad conditions.
I found myself without any opportunity to physically inspect the property beforehand.
To make matters worse, when I asked for more detailed information, their response was disappointing. They only provided a few old, tiny photos that didn’t really show what the property was like.
Despite my persistent requests for a video tour, the agency exhibited a shocking level of indifference, as if the deal had already been sealed and there was no reason whatsoever to put in additional effort.
It is more than disappointing that they believed their responsibilities were done as soon as the contract was signed, not caring about keeping customers satisfied.
When I finally moved in, the property was filled with old, broken furniture and trash, showing how neglected it was. The kitchen was covered in old grease stains and the bathroom had mold. One of the rooms smelled strongly of smoke, indicating a lack of cleaning and upkeep in the past.
The problems didn’t stop as I looked around the property: handles were broken or on the verge of breaking, the windows had gaps, and some couldn’t be opened. It is hard not to wonder why the agency didn’t bother to check and fix these obvious issues before I moved in.
As if it wasn’t enough, a series of issues popped up one after another:
- The toilet started leaking.
- The house’s heating system didn’t work because it was broken.
I complained with the agency and they sent some engineers, who came and provided a detailed report explaining the need of changing the whole system. Strangely, after that, everything just came to a standstill. It has been a month or two and nothing has been fixed yet.
I have been really patient and I have considered that the agency might be busy. However, it has become extremely exhausting to keep sending emails, only to get a vague reply like “we are tracking it”, without any real progress.
Given the current situation with the broken heating system and windows, I can’t imagine how it will be to live in the apartment in winter. However, they don’t seem to care about it.

I wanted to share my experience with Foxtons and particularly with one of their agents, Craig Brant.
As first time buyers, we met a lot of sales agents as we were browsing properties to view and place offers.
What strike me with Craig from day 1, was his eagerness to support us and answer any questions we might had in a timely manner, as well as being truthfull to meet our needs and offer us alternatives where possible. It was the element of human factor in him, that made us see him as our trusted sales advisor and not strictly as someone trying to sell us a property at any cost.
He was the only agent that provided his mobile number straight away which meant we could access him directly on the phone or through text messages or WhatsApp, without needing to call the office. He never evaded answering a call and even if he wasn't available, he would always make us aware and come back to us asap. He would always catch up on the messages/voicemails etc., even if that was late in the evening, which was always reassuring that he was ontop of our case.
I would definitely recommend Foxtons and Craig in particular and will reach out to him again for any future move we decide to do.

Best agency in the area from my point of view! We came to the UK recently and had problems with the totally internal UK-oriented referencing system, which does not accept any finances beyond UK payslips (which is ridiculous!). Foxtons Guildford was the first who accepted US Shares / Dividends as funds. We worked with Margot Redpath and she helped a lot in understanding local market and rules. We've been looking for our first home for a while and Craig took note of our brief and showed us different properties in one afternoon that suited what we are looking for at different price points which helped us really well to understand what we are willing to pay and compromise on. Foxtons had not been my initial choice when I decided to sell my property however they kept on checking with me although I had appointed another agent. As my property was not getting sold with the initial agent after >12months, Foxtons (James H) gave me the confidence to rely on them and switch agency. Foxtons were great as they helped manage the ‘politics’ with my former agent while switching. They quickly re-put the property on the market and Craig B was appointed as my main contact. Within a week I received multiple offers matching the asking price and above. Craig B also went above and beyond to close the sale as fast as possible and visited the property multiple times to let contractors in, which was of great help to me as the property was vacant and I live abroad. Foxtons also updated me on a regular basis, they set up a WhatsApp group which helped the communication. Foxtons offered a significant better customer service than the 2 agencies I had used in the past, their commission might be higher than some others but be assured that the service you get reflects this. I wish I had selected Foxtons from the start. Thank you James and Craig, you have been exceptional.

Landlord beware. This company is not serious in letting your property by passing off opportunities. As a prospective tenant who is looking for a £4000-£5000/mo rental, this company failed to respond to multiple requests for viewing. When they came back to me a few weeks later, they asked if I am still interested and I said yes. They took some details but then went missing again with no follow up whatsoever. I start to think that this is a scam. Those landlords probably got scammed without knowing.

We were looking for a flat to rent with Foxtons for 4+ months, and in all that time they could not find a property to meet our needs even despite our above average budget. Only use if you have very basic requirements, and are willing to probably overpay.
The flat we ended up finding is in a building the Foxtons agent had told us would not allow pets. However another agency had no problem sorting this. Agents at Foxtons would constantly say ‘this type of property isn’t suitable’ without even checking the lease or with the landlord.
We were also constantly told that the nicer properties were going too fast and before they reach online, and that we ‘really must’ go out on viewings with them to see the latest properties. It is my understanding that this is completely incorrect information and probably just a sales tactic…I even enquired about a property immediately after it hit the website and that was too soon for them - they didn’t know anything about it! After travelling down from London for a day of viewings (hoping to see these so called properties that haven’t been listed online yet) all the flats we were taken to we had already seen on their website so knew they weren’t suitable, and most were £200-£300 over our budget anyway ! Complete waste of our day off work.
The lettings team also seem to have a policy of not responding to emails whatsoever which is very strange and frustrating if you are at work during their working hours.
Overall a really terrible experience and I don’t think we’d attempt to use Foxtons again.

I decided to look for my next property due to positive reviews from friends who found their flats through Foxtons before so my expectations were quite high. Firstly, I booked viewings for 3 properties around the same price range. To my surprise, on the day of the viewings the estate agent Holly showed me completely different flats all more expensive than what I said I’m looking for. After that, she disappeared completely and didn’t reply on email or pick up her phone. I waited for a week or so and decided to book viewings for other flats through their web portal which nobody called me back for?! A month later, Holly from the Guildford office calls me and asks me how my search is going and when I tell her once again my preferences she tells me I won’t find a 2-bed flat under 2200 pounds. Let me say her attitude was not very friendly and it was almost defensive. She calls me today and when I tell her I have found a 2-bed for 1500 she tells me the company I am renting with is probably fake and overall left me feeling extremely awkward and made me feel stupid for even picking up her call. I have no idea how estate agents make commission but if she does this to everyone then I have no clue how she managed to stay 5 years in this business. Will definitely avoid this company in future although I have heard only good things so far. Don’t recommend at all this agent did was lie so I can rent an old and overpriced flat. While wasting my time on top of it.

Please note this is a 5 star review although we didn't had the chance to secure a property though Foxtons Guildford. We finally managed to find a property through an agent in Godalming.
In the "wild west" of the estate agents serving the Guildford and surrounding areas we spoke with almost everyone trying to let a property during the month of March 22.
We were lucky enough to find one (and I mean it when I say ONLY one) agent that dealt with our situation with empathy and understanding. She pro-actively tried to find a property for us, and went on a great deal of effort to accommodate our late minute requests for viewings since we had to drive from South East London.

Ryan Brahim and Christian Dickson have been absolutely brilliant. I had an awful 5 month long experience with 'Premier' Property Lawyers and the deal would have fallen through had it not been for the delligence and efficiency of Foxtons. Always there for support or advice whenever I needed it and as a first time buyer I have learned so much from them.
I used to think agents were similar to used car salesmen but the genuine, sincere care and support shown by Ryan and Christian during a very stressful time has completely changed my mind. They would both work long hours well into the evening and on an unrelated sale with my mother's home, even politely listen to her babble on about random things for an hour at 7pm long after their office closed. Foxtons regularly won't above and beyond to facilitate the sale but also to ensure the welfare of the buyer/vendor.
The integrity and high morale standards of Foxtons raises them above all the competition in Guildford. I can't imagine using another agent and I encourage anyone reading this to use them.

The people that work here are generally very nice, so they get an extra star. They failed to sell my property, 70% of all viewings booked were cancelled or no-shows wasting my time, and they did nothing to justify their sky-high commission. To top it off they lost my keys so I had to replace my locks (costing me half a day in lost wages) and it took them over 3 weeks to pay me back for the cost of locks leaving me out of pocket. Using Foxtons was a costly mistake, save yourself thousands and use an agent with a lower commission

Without doubt the worst, rudest and inept estate agents in Guildford the staff are extremely rude and once they have your money they ignore you. If you are thinking about renting with these guys don't turn around and walk to burns and Webber or any of the others to save money months of problems and staff that act in a disgraceful manner.
They are also the most expensive for selling 2.5% where others offer 1.3% so in no way will you be better off.

Worst letting agency i ever had. I have been given false promises, one they handled key and simply started lying as you don't have anything in written. The house got damaged patio and they advertised with pictures of new built and then they said it will be repaired in couple of days. I lived at property and never been repaired. Please make recording of what they say when you see the property or avoid going to them.

Terrible estate agent.
As a former tenant I have had many difficulties getting in contact with Foxtons - I usually call and ask them for some information but this information never gets sent to me. I believe they either purposefully ignore requests or have some seriously under trained staff who do not care about the reputation of the company. There were many other issues during my tenancy however I will not detail them here - I will say that all the students I spoke to who had a tenancy with Foxtons experienced the same issues.
I would highly recommend you stay away from this estate agency (especially if you are a student looking for somewhere to stay during university)
Edit: I forgot to mention, they are extremely responsive when you initially approach them since they are just trying to get tenants into the house but it all goes downhill from there.

Outstanding outstanding, I give 5 stars but I wish I could give 10 stars. Some people say Foxtons are expensive but they are worth every dim, they put in so much work above what is expected of them. Michael Chamberlain was phenomenal, always on board calling making sure the sale ran smoothly even when it got to the stage where the sale looked impossible to complete Michael still kept chasing, even during his annual leave I was able to contact him, I never felt alone during the sale which completed literally in the last hour of the buyers mortgage expiry date.. i wish i were able to use Foxtons for my other sales and purchases but due to the location I was unable to.. I would like to mention the amazing service given by Michael Chamberlain at the Foxtons Guildford branch. I listed my property with Michael and from the start he was professional and was always contactable throughout the process, which I think is invaluable and very underrated in agents!! Michael managed to put my property under offer within 2/3 weeks of being on the market for a great price (given the presses “reporting” on the market). The conveyancing process was handled very well by Michael and calmly handled the inexperienced buyers solicitors through what could have been a potentially deal ending conveyancing process, despite a few delays (not his fault – buyers solicitors once again), the property has exchanged and I couldn’t be happier. Well worth the fee. I wouldn’t consider using anyone else for my next property purchase.

How does anyone manage to get a job at foxtons? Oh yeah, turn up with half a brain cell and you're hired. They have to be the worst and neglecting estate agents ever. After multiple complaints, prompts and nags to the management team, it seems to take them an overly long amount of time, but as soon as you get your parents involved they'll pull their finger. Absolute joke of a company. Can't take students seriously and therefore we don't take them seriously anymore. Even stating multiple times we are late on rent after we are clearly paying them on time and even sending out an invoice for late rent, for them to say that same day that was a mistake is clearly the wrong people to be helming a multi-located estate agents. Ridiculous; and our landlord doesn't even appreciate their service either.

If I could put 0 stars I would. When I moved in to the house I'm renting, there was mouldy everywhere. One room completely covered in it. It took 2 months before anything was done about this.
We also had situations where our shed did not lock, we told Foxtons that we had someone breaking in and sleeping in there, even leaving jugs of urine and that we had filed multiple reports to the police and they took their time to fix that also. When it was fitted with a lick, the padlock wasn't even big enough to secure it and we continued to have problems with break ins.
We had no fridge for a week, and when we finally had someone deliver it, being friends of the landlord, we found out that even he isn't satisfied with how Foxtons have handled the letting.
Terrible company, even worse for students. It seems these companies don't realise that students renting for the first time will have an ever lasting impression of them and we will be the people renting/buying from them in the future. Foxtons most certainly will not be a company I ever use again.

The worst company i have ever seen in my life. The are pretty good and quick to rent the house. But property management wise they are terribly and helpless.
We had problems almost since we started in the house with the boiler. It took 2 months for just bring a new piece for the boiler.
The toilet was attached to the wall with superglue and we asked them to fix it the sent a plumber , he left us without can flash the toilet FOR A MONTH (there is only one toilet in the house) so we have been flashing with a bucket.
Now we don't have heating for more than a week, it's freezing but they doesn't care at all.
And there is no way to talk with the landlord cause they know the landlord will stop to work with them.

Even though I didn't end up renting through Foxton's I had to review them to say Tom from Foxton's was incredibly helpful. No other agent in town came close to Tom's level of service. He kept in close contact and really worked hard to find us a place. We found several strong contenders, but ended finding the right property with someone else, but it was not for lack of trying on Tom's part!
I would highly recommend Tom to anyone looking for rental property in Guildford. He will be a great ally in your search!

We would like to thank James Hughes who helped us with our house hunt. He always called us when a property came on the market - not just any house but what he thought would suit us and we would like. What we liked the most about James was his 'non-pushy' style which both my husband and I appreciated. Foxtons Guildford asked us if we were prepared to leave a review, of our experience as buyers. We are. We mainly dealt with Paul J, and mentioned to him at the time we were pleasantly surprised that he ‘broke the stereotype’ of an estate agent. Aside from being polite and easy to get along with, some stand out points:
1. Often estate agents 'blur' away the fact that they are actually acting for the seller, not you the buyer. This was not the case with Paul - he remained professional throughout.
2. Estate agents can be hit and miss at getting back to you. Paul was very reliable, and then went on to arrange a viewing: i) at very short notice; ii) at an awkward time.
3. Often answers to questions are “I think so, yeah” whereas Paul had a good knowledge of the property we were viewing, and had researched the specific points we’d mentioned beforehand.
4. Sometimes answers to questions can be…creative. Paul simply stated “It think it’s X, but I’m not 100% on that so tomorrow morning I will check and let you know” (which he did).
5. Often estate agents turn to the guy when talking about money or structural beams etc. Paul dealt equally with my partner, the girl.

We moved from a flat to a detached house and made it happen by great help from Foxtons and particularly Michael Chamberlain of Guildford office. He negotiated the price for us to be able to afford buying the house, and furthermore he regularly (usually weekly and sometimes more frequently) tracked the entire process with all involved parties, from us (as purchasers), vendors, other agents and solicitors for making sure that process never pauses. He acted very quickly in resolving problems in a few occasions during the process. His other colleagues, Ryan Dowd and Aidan Humphries also played their role in their own positions.
