I would highly recommend Douglas Allen, we have viewed 5 properties through them now, 4 in wickford with Demi Jamieson and one in Laindon with Luke Minors, both are such lovely people they do their job so well, pointing out the main features of the property, the good points and pointing out any flaws and negatives the property has too. The current team at the Wickford branch of Douglas Alan, headed by Alex Harding and including Caroline, Demi, Lucy and others behind the scenes of course, s an exceptional team, who works promptly, professionally and punctually.
I had a great experience with this team, selling my house. They marketed it online with the photography and virtual tour done within a week of signing with them. I especially admired Alex' approach by inviting his colleagues to the property to view it for themselves gaining insight and feel of it, to be able to sell it. It is always easier to sell if you like your product.
They attracted viewers, even before launching the property. I really appreciate that Caroline or Demi arrived before each viewing and took over completely, allowing me to continue with my day, while they showed and explained. They also kept a highly communicative approach with updates. It was no surprise with the amount of work they put in that our first offer came through them 2 weeks after our signing with them.
This team deserves their commission: they worked quite hard for it.

We put our house on the market the week before Christmas 2022. Alex came to value the house and it was like talking to a friend! He was so personable and really wanted to help - we were relocating out of the area asap due to a job opportunity. We didn’t feel that they wanted to under value the house or just make a “quick sale” at all. We had lots of viewings arranged very quickly. We sold on the last day of January and Stuart negotiated the price fantastically for us. We were then passed over to Natasha who progressed our sale. Would avoid at all costs. Over price your house then encourage you to drop the price after a week when it has no interest.
Constantly say they’re emailing and calling potential buyers, when the website statistics say different. Everything is done at a snails pace. After we switched estate agents they left the house up for sale in the window for 3 weeks even though we weren’t selling with them anymore… that’s how absent minded they are. If you want a stress free and smooth sale go with Temme English. If you want to sell your house for £20k less than it’s worth go with Alex at Douglas Allen.

What a terrible experience.
After initially winning our business with false promises and a lofty valuation, a week went by and we hadn’t seen any progress.
DA are not pro active enough, claiming they are doing everything to sell the property with no evidence. They wait for buyers to come to them, claims were made around outbound calling etc which I doubt.
Everything was taking an age, from listing the property to receiving a phone call back with an update, not that there was much of one to give.
Pulled the plug within my 14 day cooling off period (industry standard), went with another local EA and sold within 5 days.
Douglas Allen hide behind stats, if you want a personal service from an EA who care and respect you, go down the road to Temme English.
Ironically, Douglas Allen are so slow that our house was up for sale in their window at the time that we sold as they forget to take it down.

Having used Douglas Allen before I didn't hesitate to use them again to sell my current house, Alex arrived and straight away was friendly and professional in his approach. As to the valuation of my property, amd in the current climate he was honest and fair with the price.
I agreed the with the valuation and decided to sell through Douglas Allen and within a few days pictures were taken of the property and with in a week the house was listed on all the major housing apps, i was then introduced to their mortgage advisor Andrew, who was professional, his knowledge of products and services was very well received and has helped me obtain a new mortgage offer and life insurance.
My house sold in around 4 weeks, so they must of plugged away with plenty of marketing as had a lot of viewings in the first few weeks, which is always good.
House sale agreed and Natasha has been the point of contact and has kept me informed of whats going on with the sale / enquiries by way of email.
If you want a professional property company that will put the effort into selling your house and give you an honest service then look no further than Douglas Allen. 5 stars all the way. Well done Wickford branch keep up the good work.

Pleasent people to deal with and they do talk the talk but unfortunately my experience was not as expected. A cateloge of issues from incorrect picture order on web sites to mis-descriptions and very little consultation before publishing. When errors were reported days went passed before these were resolved. No feedback after prospect visits and locked in for a long time unable to exit the agreement. I am sure most agrents have very similar terms but on top of the issues it has all left a bad taste. I understand no agent can magic up interested purchasers if they are not about but the back office admin needs serious attention to even reach good let alone excellent. Given the large bill they were planning to send me not impressed.

I’ve been viewing properties for the last few weeks now and out of all the agents I’ve been speaking to, Douglas Allen in Wickford have been by far the best.

Good company and pleasant to talk to on the phone. Christy and Spencer get a special mention as both efficient and proactive. Sold our house in 4 weeks and got lots of viewings at times that worked well for us.
To be five star, I would say it was the hiccup when the agents we were buying from were being a pain that lost a star. I had to ask DA to step in because I was getting endless calls and I needed them to sort it. It took a few calls to DA but Spencer was quick to resolve issues without hesitation once he understood the situation. We've used them twice so that speaks volumes

In particular Christy was very helpful arranging the viewings and even took the trouble to check the property so she knew what it was like to be able to describe it to potential purchasers and also to ensure it was offered to a wide audience. She has always been very personable and helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. Once we had sold the team continued their support right up to exchange, ensuring we were not left on our own. We recently bought through Douglas Allen and they were super helpful and friendly the whole way through the process. To begin with alot of estate agents sometimes seem like they don't want people viewing houses they are listing, making it difficult to get through to anyone, not calling back about bookings etc... It was a breath of fresh air when Christy got in touch from Douglas Allen and was friendly, professional and very helpful. She gave us a list of appropriate houses and the one we ended up on was one she had suggested and we had not considered in our initial rightmove list.
From here we were set up with the in-house mortgage advisor Alistair who spent a long time with us as we went through all the options and we ended up saving a lot of money thanks to his help.
After this, Natasha has been handling the progression and has kept us updated the whole way.
To be honest - I have had generally pretty bad experiences with estate agents in the past but Douglas Allen in Wickford have been perfect and made what would be a very stressful process very simple. I suggest going with them and using all of their in-house services (Alistair and jslaw solicitors) - you'll have an easier life and save money too!

Unfortunately I believed what the branch manager said Douglas Allen would do to promote and sell my property. In reality it all comes down to the price of your property with them and the constant calls to lower the price to get the sale. They stopped giving feedback after a while. The property went missing from all websites for a week which they didn't even notice so shows they do not monitor visitor traffic. They also completely ignore questions in emails. They charge one of the highest commission fees and don't do what I did and think you get for what you pay. You don't. Avoid!

Unfortunately I believed what the branch manager said Douglas Allen would do to promote and sell my property. In reality it all comes down to the price of your property with them and the constant calls to lower the price to get the sale. They stopped giving feedback after a while. The property went missing from all websites for a week which they didn't even notice so shows they do not monitor visitor traffic. They also completely ignore questions in emails. They charge one of the highest commission fees and don't do what I did and think you get for what you pay. You don't. Avoid!

Christy at the Wickford branch couldn’t have helped me more. Being a first time buyer I was unsure where to start, however after speaking to Christy she quickly helped my nerves settle and explained exactly what I needed in place to start my property search. I’ve now organised an agreement in principle with Alistair the mortgage advisor at Wickford. Plus Christy recommended solicitors, something I wouldn’t have arranged without her advice. Everyone at Wickford has been a pleasure to meet so far. I haven’t found a house yet, but with Christy calling me regularly... I’m sure it won’t take me long to find something. Couldn’t recommend Douglas Allen enough! You’ve been amazing!
