Fulfords Newton Abbot - Avoid / Dishonest
I recently offered on a property with Fulfords and as I was porting a mortgage, the property being chain free and ready to move at pace was really important to me. I was assured of both, but neither were true. I ended up pulling out of the transaction as I couldn't risk losing my mortgage product. I'm currently out of pocket for the search fees - Fulfords will be hearing more about that.
Jason and Joe, whilst very good with the patter, I didn't find to be honest and straight up about things. Promised the earth and didn't deliver. Once I'd signed on the offer form and agreed to use their expensive solicitors, they didn't want to know. Upon reflection, a bit like buying a used car 20 years ago!
Would never use again and would never recommend to anyone else.

It was a pleasure to work with the team at Fulfords Newton Abbot. The service was professional and honest. Viewing activity was well managed with potential buyers soon in place. Despite the initial buyers pulling out Fulfords were able to recover the sale with a second buyer, improve the offer and conclude the deal. At times communications were less frequent than I would have liked but given the complication of third party contacts it was understandable.

We recently sold through Fulfords and cannot fault their service. Jon valued our property at £10-20k higher than that of a competing local agent and he was confident we could achieve this. We actually agreed a sale price just slightly over the top end! A great achievement in the current market.
We found our perfect house and put an offer in before our house was even on the market. Fulfords worked rapidly and had our photos and advert ready within a week! We had lots of viewings with great communication and prompt feedback each time. The team were very helpful with advice and communication with our buyer when the solicitors were being slow!
Simon Rock also gave very helpful advice regarding mortgages and I would fully recommend his services too, a great addition to the business to have this in house.
All in all I would not hesitate to use Fulfords again in future and to recommend them to everyone else. Thank you to Jon, Joe, Jason and Kay - A fabulous team of people who work very well together!

I had a very positive experience dealing with Fulfords whilst selling my home. They came in with a good fixed fee which undercut other agents, who didn't even attempt to go lower. Communication was responsive and fairly quick, always friendly and helpful. Good advice given, and despite the lack of parking and what I consider to be a rubbish location, my home was sold stc within 14 days. Would definitely recommend and use again in future.

I called the Lettings Manager on 26/01/22 to register with Fulfords as I had been advised our landlord was selling the house we were living in. My experience started badly when it turned out the staff at the Dartmouth branch had given me the number forsales and not lettings. I was advised that the Lettings Manager was away from her desk and to either email her or leave a message on her answerphone and she would call back later. I chose to do both, hoping that would ensure a prompt response. The next day, having received no response, I called again on two occasions and again got no response.
A month later, having secured a property through another agent I emailed the Lettings Manager at Fulfords (who had still not replied to any of my previous messages) to advise her of this. On this occasion I copied in the Fulfords Customer Services and explained that I was not impressed with their poor service. This time around I received a very swift reply in which the Lettings Manager claimed to have been on leave when I had previously contacted her and proceeded to throw her colleagues under the bus and say they had failed to flag my messages to her.
Needless to say I won't be using Fulfords in the future.

Wouldn't allow me to view a property without a mortgage 'agreement in principle' - which is a bit strange as I don't need a mortgage.
If I were intending to sell a property I definitely would not want Fulfords handling the sale.

Very poor service. Tenants beware!
We left our rented property in September (rent fully paid up and throughout our tenancy our inspections had good feedback about the condition / cleanliness) and still no closer to getting our deposit refunded....OVER 12 WEEKS LATER!!. Our voice messages and emails are being ignored and when you get frustrated and go through to speak to someone in the sales department they say someone will call you back but they don't. They keep blaming accounts, but that was the story in October when they thought we had payments outstanding. I have since emailed a breakdown of payments made, showing that we owe nothing but we are still waiting. COME ON AND GET THIS SORTED!

We probably werent the easiest customers, being first time buyers and unsure of the process and already losing 2 properties prior to the lovely house we now have, we were convinced that something bad was going to happen at any moment!! I used Fulfords Newton Abbot for an buy to let investment purchase in 2020 and then subsequently used their tenant find service for letting. In terms of the purchase they were fine and I had no concerns.
The letting service was a total disaster and after eventually moving on from the tenants found for me through Fulfords and letting the property myself using a cheap online portal for 10% of the price I realise I was essentially charged a lot of money for a terrible service which ended up costing me thousands of pounds in legal fees and lost rent.
Fulfords claim to have professionals with local knowledge finding you a reliable tenant. My experience was staff who don't listen to your requests, having to chase the team up to find out what was happenning and 'click button' external referencing which is is no way verified or checked in branch. In my case this led to Fulfords recommending a fraudulent tenant who had provided completely false information which was never checked. When this came to light the company didn't want to know and offered no help other than suggesting engaging a legal professional...... When I complained and asked at least for a refund of my fees they refused. Eventually they submitted a complaint to the referencing company who did agree to refund my fees. Before releasing this to me they deducted money from it for an invoice with them dating back a year that they had never provided me with or requested payment for. Another example of complete lack of professionalism or courtesy. I am more than happy to pay what I owe but I expect to least be told about it!
My review summary is that this company adds no value for its letting service. They are not doing anything that you couldn't do better and cheaper yourself. I don't normally write reviews but I was so disappointed with this company that I have shared my experience in the hope that someone else will avoid suffering the same.

For something that is very dauting ==Selling your Home ! All that goes with it , along with sleepless nights , stress,. Walking on a strange road with so many pot holes to fall in !. I can honestly say , Jason & his team , have treated us with respect, honestly,showing us the way , very helpful, nothing has been to much trouble for them !. Very grateful to particularly Charlotte and Kay for their invaluable help in pushing through our purchase. Although agents act primarily for the vendors, both sets of solicitors needed regular kicks up the proverbially to keep things on track. I know on the face of it, estate agents appear an unnecessary expense in this day and age, I beg to differ. Having someone local to the property we were buying who acted as an intermediary was so important to both us as purchasers and I am sure the vendors too.

I recently called 4 letting agents in the area to enquire about putting my property on the rental market. I have a 4 bedroom house in Decoy so I thought having never let it before and having no experience agents would have been keen to get my business. Out of the 4 agents I called Fulfords were the only agent that didn't call me back. I did call them back twice more as I had heard some really positive comments from friends who had let with them before, again I left another message and they still did not ring me back so I gave my business to another agent in town.

We've had a terrible experience with as landlords with Fulfords as our agent. We've been passed around to multiple people (having to deal with many random people in Nottingham/no consistent account management). We've had to deal with repairs and contractors ourselves (that's what we pay an agent for). They've tried to flog us completely unnecessary and expensive home installations (getting a kick-back I'm sure). They completely failed to adequately deal with problems relating to our tenants and neighbours. The last straw was returning the full deposit to tenants without approval. I strongly recommend AGAINST using them.

I am a landlord currently letting 2 properties. I instructed Fulfords lettings of Newton Abbot after instructing 2 other letting agents who were unable to let my property (1 didn't even secure a single viewing in over 2 months!). Fulfords (and specifically Claire Hannaford from the Newton Abbot office) have been very professional, good photos and house description, getting lots of viewings and being honest with feedback about the property and the market rental value. They contacted me regularly about viewings and I received an automated text every time a viewing was booked: The wonders of modern technology!
All in all highly recommended and a top class professional service. Thank you Fuldfords and especially than you Claire Hannaford.
