I’m sad to leave this review but it’s reached a point where I’m disappointed in the level of service we’ve received. We rented a property through H&H and left the property this past Monday. It was our dream bungalow in every way and we were told on the viewings that the LL would definitely be open to selling and, once we were settled, we should meet him. We were also advised that a long-term tenancy would be no problem. Imagine our surprise when we met the LL and were told he would “never sell as he didn’t need the money” but a long-term tenancy would be fine. We advised him we’d like 5 years minimum which he seemed happy with. We advised that we’d love to do improvements but wanted the security before we added value to a property that didn’t belong to us. Within a couple of months we approached H&H to organise a renewal, as we had a 6 month tenancy paid up front which would end in September. We were surprised again to find out our LL would only do 18 months and there was no movement on this, especially when not long before this we were texting a member of staff from H&H who said that long-term should be fine. We moved from another property in Daventry specifically for this bungalow, so we feel deflated and lied to. When I’ve brought this up with H&H they’ve completely denied saying this and made out that we must have heard it wrong, despite us having proof over texts. Nobody has actually pursued our complaint or tried to make it right. We left the property and a week later I still haven’t had my overpaid rent back from the LL and no guidance on when I should expect to receive this, despite chasing. This is nearly £2k. With regards to my deposit, I’ve been given an obscene gardening cost to be deducted with no proof of what it is actually paying for, despite asking to see the quote several times. I admit that the garden is overgrown and DOES need work but not £500+ worth. We explained to our LL why we were letting the flower beds grow out when he last visited, so it wasn’t that we were just being lazy. Yes, the grass needs mowing and the hedges cutting but, again, not £500 worth of work. The property was handed to us without being professionally cleaned, when we first got the keys we were there until gone midnight cleaning so we could move furniture in. I’m not sure why this went so badly wrong as H&H clearly have a good reputation but I’d never use them again.... Read more

Absolutely terrible service. Booked a viewing before they knew if they could get the keys or not. Rang me last minute to say they couldnt get the keys so wasted money on the non-refundable train tickets. Would have signed the contract there and then once seeing the property. They lost a customer who would have taken a property off them which has been up for two months after multiple people didn't secure it. Also didn't get sent the viewing address and wasted my time. Never will use again.... Read more

I placed our property on the market with Howkins following a very efficient initial enquiry and subsequent marketing strategy. The property was SSTC within 48 hours and the process was seamless Our property was then part of the probate process which once achieved was where Claire and the team shone, we had problems with communication with the buyers solicitor but Claire was totally vigilant keeping the process moving daily updating us until we reached exchange and completion. The sales team were exceptional their internal communication strategy allowed any of the team to be in a position to respond and support I would highly recommend Claire and the sales team and can’t thank them enough.... We have used Howkins and Harrison for years. They rented out my UK Barn when I moved to Australia and then sold it. We had another rental in Rugby which they then managed and sold recently. Being overseas adds a new dimension as you cannot view the property and rely on accurate feedback and even meter readings. Which we got. Full marks to Helen Thomas for keeping in touch and monitoring the sale on a daily basis and to Robert Eyton-Jones for the overall supervision and the regular phone calls.
