20th Oct 2025 (1 year ago)Used Ashtons as was a prospective buyer of a property they marketed. Not so many issues with the office but the sales progression team were always quite slow to respond and could never get through to the assigned person to my case. Additionally used ashtons to sell my property and I feel compelled to share my deeply disappointing experience. The problems began immediately. The agency provided an initial valuation to secure our business in July, only to suggest a £25,000 price reduction after just one week, admitting there was no interest. Despite agreeing to the reduction, it did not correlate to an increase in activity which would lead to questions around marketing and resource as Ashtons list a lot of properties. By September, they had only managed to secure two viewings. We received absolutely no feedback from either of these viewings, despite requesting it, leaving us completely in the dark. Lastly thier fees are quite opaque and if youre new to selling read through everything very carefully. In the non flex fees there are baked in withdrawal fees that ensure ashtons get paid regardless if they sell or not. Which gives them little incentive to really push your property in my opinion. The alternative is you pay money up front to them to sell your property which is preposterous. Fundamentally all the agents use rightmove to market your property and that's where most people go to find houses. In summary: an inaccurate valuation, negligible effort, a complete lack of communication, and a devious fee structure designed to charge you even when they fail to perform.

2nd Nov 2025 (11 mo. ago)I don't feel they really put any effort into trying to sell our property. The quality of the pictures and listing was not up to scratch. We had to chase for information a lot. I regret choosing them.

19th May 2026 (24 weeks ago)Awful experience. Lack of communication, lying to prospective buyers. Late and unprofessional with viewings, staged false viewings, just couldn’t be bothered. As for professional standards, brochure was a disaster of poor photos, false information, website never updated and a contract which equated to a scribbled mess if I’m honest. Altogether a dreadful experience that cost us both in time and financially. They admitted truth but no apology. Wish we had never trusted them. Maybe they have become too complacent and need to retire. All staff are incompetent and that comes from the top.- 28th Mar 2023 (3 years ago)Early days, but so far so good. 31st Aug 2026 (9 weeks ago)Would appear the house was over valued by the estate agent so setting wrong expectations about what price could be achieved. Minimal viewings Person showing the house (not the exp lead) arrived at the same time as the potential buyers so house wasn’t opened up or displayed to best advantage No communication from the estate agent I would not use exp again. Very disappointed.

4th Oct 2026 (28 days ago)This was a terrible experience. I was promised it all and receive nothing. I was told there will be bespoke marketing but I just got a right move and Zoopla add and one social media post. No video even though we suggested it. When the property went on Rightmove there was a “glitch” and the exterior photos were not showing. Nor the floor plan or sizes. After almost a week this got fixed. But the ad wasn’t reset. In less than 2 weeks we were recommended to reduce the price based on a property that sold 2 years ago which was over 1,000 sqf smaller. I was told the agreement was 12 weeks but he had noted 20 weeks and never left me a copy of the agreement. When I gave notice suddenly we had interested parties. I had a toddler and 2 indoor cats and 5,000 sqf to tidy up but he always gave me less than 24hrs notice. Communication was almost like non existence. We would have paid him around 26k yet we had an office number and email to communicate with him. Emails took days office number almost never replied. He was always negative about everything. He then bought on a colleague who was a little more active but still the whole experience was stressful and just dragged. We switched agents and even before the ad went live we had a viewing. Definitely not one I will recommend.
