We wanted to express how very pleased we were in how the team at Tooting sold our house. When our original buyer pulled out on the day of exchange, they worked tirelessly at marketing the property and finding us a new buyer. What made this more impressive was that they were able to secure a very successful outcome working within the restrictions and complications of the Covid 19 pandemic.

I used Barnard Marcus when buying my first home. We just exchanged today with a view of completing next week and every step of the journey has been amazing.

From the first viewing with Shahana Hasif she made us feel really welcome and is super friendly and chatty. She also took the necessary precautions with regard to safety (we had our first viewings as soon as the market opened up post lockdown) so we felt very safe when entering the property and when speaking with her. She was also very knowledgeable about the property and answered all the questions we had. Following the viewings when we had other questions she was super responsive when replying to our emails and phone calls.

As this was our first property purchase obviously everything was very new to us as we hadn't gone through the process before. Shahana was so helpful towards us and took into account any reservations we had or if we were unsure about parts of the process and explained them really clearly.

In addition to this, we use Jack Brown as our mortgage adviser and he was also incredibly helpful and supportive. As FTB the mortgage process was a bit daunting but he was genuinely available whenever we needed him to talk through things and was incredibly quick at submitting our application and keeping us informed with updates as soon as he got them.

When speaking with both Jack and Shahana, I genuinely got the feeling that they were as excited as me about the journey to buying a house and it was really nice to share that with both of them.

I'd absolutely consider using Barnard Marcus Tooting if we ever come to sell the house if it means dealing with Shahana and Jack as they made it feel like a breeze.

I have had the most amazing experience with the Tooting Branch. Dearbhla and Shahana are the most professional and caring people I have dealt with in a long time. Their compassion in dealing with me at such a difficult time was outstanding. I can't thank them enough.

We rented a property through BM in May 2017, when we viewed the property it was not clean and we were told the property will be professionally cleaned before our move in date. When we moved in the property was still in the same state and we emailed BM letting them know that we will not pay for a professional clean when we move out.
During our tenancy (that finished Nov 2019) we had the following issues:

1- Simple repairs such as fixing a sink tap or a toilet seat or a dishwasher or a toilet flush took over 3 months. Our last repairs which was a toilet tap was reported 4 months before our move out date and it was still not fixed by the time we moved out, multiple emails were sent to them but they didnt care.

2- We were only given 5-6 hours notice before viewings of the flat, most of the times we were at work and trusted state agents to show the property to future tenants. On 2 occasions the agent named KASHAF left the door of our property unlocked, luckily nothing was stolen.

3- We received our check out inventory 6 days after we moved out and most of the things were left in good condition (as per inventory), we were told that we will have to pay for the professional clean which i refused to as when we moved in flat was not professionally cleaned. I forwarded the email correspondence i had with the agent at the time we moved in.

4- A week later we received an email from Eleanor Baker stating that landlord will be claiming the whole deposit for the damaged caused to the sofa and wardrobe, when i told her that there was no damage when we handed the keys and there is no damage mentioned in the check out inventory and asked her how all of a sudden they are making this unsubstantial claim, her reply was “i will pass this on to landlords but i dont think they will drop the claim”. She totally ignored the check out inventory report carried out by a third party and stopped replying to my emails.

5- i called PJ several times and he told me several times that he will catch up on this situation and get back to me but its been 10 days now i am waiting for someone to tell me when am i going to get my deposit back.

I thought renting a property through estate agents makes your life easy but this has been terrible experience and I would never ever use BM or any high street estate agents as they all put on a professional face but don’t care about people and their money.

Great service working with Barnard Marcus to sort out a flat! Extremely friendly and supportive staff. Clio understood how much we liked the property and was constantly liaising and advising us on ways to secure it and make sure everything went smoothly. Felt like we were working with friends who wanted to actually help us, which was a nice situation. The fact that you don't have to pay a deposit in order to make an offer is such an advantage, which allows flexibility and doesn't restrict you. Definitely recommend.
