Poorest service I have ever experienced in the UK. Please avoid if you can. They don’t provide inventory report even if we chased it for many times. We had to make a report by ourselves. The property manager (Jane) is really incompetent, always doesn’t reply emails on time and even cannot figure out our tenancy end date. I had to email her many times to fix her mistake. Never fix the issues in our flat even if I reported them many times. And now they are charging us a £3000 commission fee for changing new tenants (we are the current tenants) but it’s the landlord tell them to find new tenants….... Read more

Do NOT rent from Foxtons, they showed me an idyllic flat in a great location, which I loved. However, upon moving in after two weeks,I discovered mould, leaks that was very damaging to my belongings. When I threatened to move out, they did nothing of the situation and forced me to pay early move out fees. The tenant after had the same issues and Foxtons was incredibly uncooperative to the point where we had to take legal action. Do your due diligence when renting from them. Signing the contract went smooth, but it went downhill from there. Last episode when moving out: Foxtons Shoreditch sent a subcontractor to check whether all the the furniture was still in, but they didn't look properly and just missed a lot of the pieces they now charge for via my deposit. I've sent a range of messages highlighting where exactly the pieces are located in the flat, but Foxtons is not replying to a single one of them since 5 weeks - both when sent to the responsible agent (Jane) or the general Shoreditch office email address. I worked closely with Oliver at Foxton's Shoreditch over nearly a year when looking for my property. Sadly, ultimately the property I bought was listed with Dexters (a horrible experience, but more on that on their review page) but working with Oliver was such a breath of fresh air compared to other estate agents I viewed flats with. Oliver was always polite, considerate, and best of all, not pushy. This was so important to me because I would get calls at all hours, especially during my work day, from a million estate agents, and Oliver's was literally the only call I'd be willing to take. He would email me to check first if it was a good time to call, which I appreciated massively. It's honestly a real shame that Foxton's Shoreditch did not list the property I bought because I would have been more than happy for the commission to go to Oliver for his hard work and professionalism instead. I became an 'accidental landlord' after 2008/09 GFC, with just one property. I rented through Foxtons since, for nearly 15 years. I could not have been happier with the service received. In the first two years, I hedged with two other agents. Afterwards, I didn't bother: in those early years, other agents organised 2-3 views in the first week, while Foxtons always had a multiple of that and an offer within a 7-10 days every single time. I don't recall having empty-flat periods in all the time I've been with Foxtons. The ever-more onerous regulations and charges, and punitive taxation made the rental barely profitable so in early 2023, I decided to sell. Foxtons Shoreditch was, again, on hand: the team took barely a week to find me a buyer, for a shade below what I thought was an ambitious asking price. I don't know, and don't care whether Foxtons' fees are higher than those of other agents - with the valuation the team achieved, I'm classing the firm's commission not as a cost but an investment, with a full-calorie return. I had a very disappointing experience with Leazan from the property management. I tried to arrange a viewing on behalf of the landlord, (my friend) but I didn't hear back from her for days. Later, when the tenant moved out, she refused to hand the keys back to the landlord after the check-out report was completed, and after the landlord disinstructed them, which caused me a lot of inconvenience as I had to wait for 3 days to collect the keys from their office. To make matters worse, when I finally went to their office to collect the keys, I had to wait for 20 minutes at the reception as she had not informed them about the key collection. When I got the apartment it was not clean and went to complain at which point it was made clear to me from the manager that 'I am not paying a lot of money for London' (£24k per year rent). During the tenancy, fortunately, I did not have to deal with them, only to be reminded at the end of the tenancy how much the agency does not care about customers, finding £200 withdrawn from my deposit without notice. After having to end our tenancy early, due to issues with the flat. We agreed amicably on a tenancy end date and the amount of the deposit returned. We contacted Foxtons with this information, and they told us we could expect the deposit returned within 3—5 business days. I asked for a response to my emails containing the agreement from the landlord. 11 days after. I called them to ask about the deposit, and they claimed they had never received our emails showing the agreement between us and the landlord, despite the reply I had received from them 11 days prior. They asked me to forward the emails again, which I did. The person I spoke to said she would need to speak with someone before providing me a response on the resent emails, and until then she wasn't able to send me anything confirming they had received them. They weren't able to transfer me to a supervisor, or even provide an email address for their supervisor. I needed that deposit back previously to pay rent on my new apartment, and now they're saying it'll be at least another 3-5 business days before I receive that money. Where do I start? I'm absolutely blown away from the beginning! They've got it nailed, their service, professionalism and knowledge are flawless!! When I was trying to find who I should go with, I found Foxton and a few others. I chose Foxton and another agency and despite the fact that I found them to be more expensive compared to the others, boy was I in for a surprise! They say you pay for what you get, every penny was worth it with Foxton!! Oli is the sales manager who visited, advised and reassured me of the market situation and what I needed to do in my flat to improve and achieve the full asking price - he was spot on!! It doesn't end here. As everyone knows selling a flat or house, to say the least is stressful. For me everything depended on a speedy sale and on top of it I needed a cash buyer. They found many potential buyers in no time and did their due diligence, this is very important to ensure the buyer is genuinely interested in purchasing the property and would not pull out at the last minute. They helped me every step of the way, advised me about the best options and risks and how to mitigate them. Oli not only achieved the full asking price, he went above and beyond expectation. At one point I was put under so much pressure from the other estate agent, who unlike him did not put my concerns and worries first. I was able to contact Oli at 1.30am while he was on leave and he advised and reassured me on what to do. If it wasn't for him, my family and I would not have our dream come true. I will never forget what he has done for me and my family. Whenever I spoke to him, he would put a smile on my face, take all the stress away. Foxton have a gem!! I have never met such a wonderful person. Behind the scenes there is a wonderful team under Oli who also kept me and all parties informed and updated and chased progress with the solicitors. I am a (surprised) Foxtons convert. My initial thought process: surely if your property is on Rightmove it doesn't matter who the estate agent is? Well, we tested that for 5 months with another of the industry leading agents (who fees were less than half) and had three prospective buyers come through our doors in that entire time. With no progress being made we switched to Foxtons on the advice of our neighbour. We're glad we did. Within a week we had two viewings.. Within 8 weeks we had several more and a full cash offer. He rang me and we had a good conversation about my requirements and the sorts of things that were important to me in my search. In contrast, when I have spoken to other Estate Agency firms they have been much more rigid in only showing me places in a certain area and referring me to their other branches to see other places which is much less convenient for me as the end user. So to tell the horror story, my sister and friend rented a property from them, signed contract, paid and everything, the time comes to move the agent ignores their calls, then four days after they are supposed to move says there is a problem with the property, it takes more days to fix, they said ok even though they had no money and were homeless at this point, after a week of ignoring them again they said the contract was cancelled, which btw is illegal takes them three weeks to refound. Cherry in top comes after three months where they found out they are on all the bills from the property they never lived in and getting "nice" calls from bailiffs. So to sum up, they rented a prop refused to give them keys even though they had no prob taking the money, leaving them homeless and destroyed their credit. Please do not deal with them; they are not serious, insulting and unprofessional.... Read more

I usually don’t leave reviews, but I hope my time prevents others from receiving the unprofessional, untrustworthy and tremendously low client service that we received. Their agents make agreements and then, through their managers, inform you that such agents had no authority to make those agreements (which they never warned you of) and that whatever was not written in the contract will not be binding (after you’ve signed the contract). They take weeks to respond despite multiple emails, phone calls and text messages and they deny any kind of responsibility. And they took no sanitary precautions considering Covid times.... Terrible agent, we've moved out on the 23rd of June and have not received our deposit back - the agreement claims it would be within 10 working days it's been almost 2 months. The agency clearly stands by their landlord and does not care about the tenants whatsoever, they keep making promises which they don't keep - you'll get the money within the next 24hrs etc. etc. They will blame everything on the landlord or the deposit company never taking any responsibility. PLEASE READ - unauthorised access to the property Foxtons agents from Spitalfields Office behaviour is unprofessional. They entered the property without tenants authorisation. We were renting a property from a landrold via another agency. Landrold has put this property on sale via Foxtons. We clearly informed the landrold that we are granting an access only by email, where precise day and time should be stated. However, in the middlle of July our webcamera has recorded how Foxton's agent entered our property without permission. After this visit double glazed window was damaged, which we were forced to sort out. **THE MOST DISGRACEFUL** real estate agency that one can ever experience in spite of very high agency fee (almost half a grand). Before Foxtons, I never had to live a life where I had to move into a flat with no hot water, a washing machine covered in round of mould, and a ripped mattress with bugs around. I have requested to remove this soiled mattress after getting my own mattress on the day of move in and it took them ten days to finally come up with a solution: to liaise with the Council on my own (with no estimated time frame and the wrong council contact at first) as this is the most 'economical' option for this 'furnished' property that they hold no liability for such removal. What a self contradictory statement. This clearly leaves me with two options: either 1) to pay high fees for immediate removal service hire or 2) to wait for weeks for the Council to collect it. Nothing but incompetent property management service - Thank you for a huge life lesson that high price tag doesn't mean quality, though.... Read more

Terrible service once you've paid the fees. I've been moved into my property for almost a month now, I still do not have a key to my mailbox or working fire alarms. These are things Foxtons are supposed to have completed *before* we move in. They will not put any urgency on a mail key. I've told them I've just moved into the country and need to be able to receive mail in order to get a national insurance number, to get bank accounts and telephone, I need to provide proof of address for these things and I cannot receive mail to get any proof of address! They do not care, not even an apology, they will not ask the building management to cut a new key presumably because it will cost a few pounds, so they've been waiting for over a week for the previous tenant to come back from vacation to see if he has the key so they can get it for free. It is completely unacceptable. I will never occupy a place that is managed by Foxton's again.... Read more

In a just under a week since I first contacted Foxtons lettings in the Shorteditch branch, Daniel Fox found a selection of tenants ready to move in my loft apartment in Bethnal Green. Out of which, I picked the strongest candidates. I must point out that just prior to contacting Foxtons, their competitors had not found us a tenant in three months!!! Foxtons process (submitting personal data, signing theTA, submitting gas certificate, ect.) is easily accessable online and it is well explained all along the way. This was particularly handy for me, as I am based in Australia. Daniel has been professional, proactive and responsive. However, said steps could best be described as labyrinthine - having to provide details of my partner's previous marriage, as well as several months worth of bank statements, seemed a bit excessive for rental, and we had to enter the same information multiple times on different forms (both for the agency, and some third-party reference-checking company). I cannot recommend Foxtons in Shoreditch highly enough. I recently bought a flat through Gavie and Karen. They consistently went over and above to make the purchase went as smooth as possible. Gavie was extremely accommodating when it came to viewings. He worked around my schedule and offered to do viewings after hours. He understood our requirements and knew exactly what we wanted straight away. Foxtons had the best quality properties and the most stock. He was always contactable over the phone / text, especially important during the negotiation phase! Karen provided reassurance and support throughout when a number of problems arose. She too was always contactable and knew just what to say. She went beyond her duties once we were in the new flat to make sure that we were happy. We had a really great offer on the table after just one week of the property being on the market but unfortunately the buyer had to pull out at the last minute which was no fault of Foxtons or myself. After 2 days of viewing with various agents my daughter and I found Gavie from Foxtons to be the most helpful, informative and professional agent we encountered. He was friendly without being over-familiar. Helpful without being pushy and very accommodating to our ever diminishing time and changing of times etc due to poor time keeping of other agents. He collected us from the bus stop and made us feel calm after a stressful day! Foxtons sales question: Whats your maximum budget? Ans: £350,000. Foxtons hard sell- 'I do have a property that has just come to the market'. When asked if I can have the details/floor plan- no you can't as its SO new to the market. Gives me the road name- google brings up the property recently on the market under Foxtons. Foxtons Fool has no idea how this could happen. 'Probably Zoopla' he burbles. I explain that Zoopla can only advertise data that Foxtons populates the page with. How much is the property on the market for? '£350,000'. Weird because on Zoopla is says £320,000. Foxton Fool phones me on my mobile- he is upset that I have hung up. I was thoroughly impressed I am by the professionalism and attitude of our Negotiator - Bradley Golshhi. Bradley managed to secure my wife and I a property we are very happy with, in an ideal location and at a great price. Although we had a good idea of the type of property and area we were looking for, Bradley was able to quickly absorb the information. After our short meeting on the Wednesday he called me in the evening to update me on the search and the following day offered a range of properties - all of which met our expectations. On the day of the viewings Bradley was extremely friendly, courteous and attentive to our needs - always ensuring we were comfortable and offering refreshments. He not only demonstrated an excellent knowledge of the Shoreditch rental market, but also went out of his way to show us the crucial nearby amenities and facilities. It is this type of local knowledge and ‘feel’ for a place that you just can’t acquire from your own research. Overall he greatly assisted us in our decision-making and made the entire process a pleasure. I find that in general people are quick to complain, but very rarely give credit where it is due.
