Andy arrived one day and a friend (from Thorner) was with me, near the door so opened it - and Andy and Sue were surprised to recognise each other - connected through daughter friendship. Sue could confirm all the above and more.
Enthusiastic, fair, intelligent, helpful, focused, understanding - Julie ( with whom I found another two coincidental connections - so again all of these and more ‘confirmed’).

It seemed so simple at first, but through one of the most complicated and disrupted house moves it's possible to imagine, every step of the way we were grateful for the kindness, guidance and goodwill of Andy and Julie at Hunters in Otley. We entrusted Hunters to sell our house in Pool and to purchase our new home in Otley, and they managed to achieve both for us - we could not be more delighted finally to be in our ideal location! I bought a property Hunters were the agents for. Throughout the process Hunters Otley - in particular Debbie and Andy were very professional and responsive. Starting with the initial viewing, agreeing a price, organising surveys, right through to the legal completion and hand over of keys. More than that, they were helpful over some difficulties I had, and as a result they made the entire process far less stressful than it could otherwise have been.

Hunters Otley are without doubt THE best estate agents around. From the very first meeting we found Andy and his team to be outstanding and the advice and support they gave us when acting for us as selling Agents was faultless. Andy went out of his way to communicate with us even on his days off for which we are immensely grateful.
Debbie was brilliant at keeping us informed at all times and Julie was just a joy to deal with. Debbie, Julie and Andy all accompanied our viewers and they found us exactly the right buyer for our property.
They stuck with us and supported us through a few tricky moments and without their professionalism we would have been lost.
Nothing was too much trouble for the whole team and we felt as though they really connected with us in terms of what we wanted to achieve.
On the occasion that we spoke to Lester he got things to happen almost instantly which lifted our spirits and confirmed to us that we had picked the best agent.
Their photographer is absolutely fantastic too and the photos he took were beautiful.

We have recently bought our house through Hunters Otley. I would like to say what a positive experience dealing with the team at Hunters Otley has been. We did a few initial viewings with Debbie and Julie and we felt that they had a really good understanding of what we were looking for. When a suitable property became available they alerted us straight away and from then on they were always available and helpful and encouraging to enable the purchase to go through to completion. Telephone calls were always answered or returned promptly and the advice we were given all proved to be sound. ATTENTION ANYONE LOOKING TO DO BUSINESS WITH HUNTERS ILKLEY AND OTLEY
BE PREPARED TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY!!!
We were looking at renting a property in Otley, and told Hunters right from the start that we would need a Guarantor. They assured us that there would not be an issue as long as we had a Guarantor in place. We paid in total £450 for two applicants and a guarantor application.
At the end of last week I was told they could not continue with the application because the referencing company HomeLet would not proceed with our application with a Guarantor in place, and that the landlord would not be able to get insurance. Spoke to HomeLet, and the decision not to proceed was down to letting agents discretion. The decision to not proceed with the insurance was also down to Hunters.
Nevertheless, Hunters have lied to us saying that they have tried everything possible to get HomeLet to proceed (HomeLet have no log of any of this, as far as they are concerned they were just waiting for the go ahead from Hunters). Hunters hadn’t put the Guarantor application in either.
It was also Hunters, not HomeLet who told the landlord that they would in no way be able to get insurance for us (something HomeLet told me was not the case). You would have thought our current landlord would have had the same issue if that was the case?
Spoke to franchise owner Lester Hurst who continued to lie to me about the situation and refused to give us our application fee back (the one we paid on the false assurance that there would be no issues applying with a Guarantor). He also tried to shift the blame onto HomeLet, but the real reason was down to Hunters wanting to make some quick money.
Lester Hurst offered us £90 back for the Guarantor application as a “good will gesture”. How about the fact they had no intention of submitting it at all! Looking back through my correspondences with Hunters, the only figure that appeared on the documents was for £360. So that means the plan was take the additional £90 from us so we didn't suspect any foul play, knowing full well they wouldn't be submitting the Guarantor along with ours, make out it was the third party referencing company's decision to not go ahead, give the £90 back to cover up the fact there was supposed to be a Guarantor application made alongside our own, and keep the profit from their inflated fees. Sounds like a nice little earner. I wonder how many other unsuspecting victims they have conned this way?
Hunters also took the personal details of our Guarantor AFTER our application was declined by HomeLet, and did not let on to us while we were submitting the details that they would not be used. I'm sure that doesn't go down well with GDPR.
It looks very much like Hunters are trying to make some quick money in light of application fees being ditched in June. It’s not surprising that Hunters fees are the most expensive in the area (Lester Hurst told me they are the same as other agents application fees, which is a lie as we have checked the fees other agents charge). Looking at Hunters letting prices from 2017 (which is still up on the company’s website) the price for a single applicant used to be £180, which was put up at the end of last year to £300. Why? An application to HomeLet costs £45, so what are Hunters doing differently since the end of last year to justify the price hike? It’s simply a case that they want to get as much as they can, while they can.
It’s an absolutely disgusting business practice that is promoted from the very top by the franchise owner, and I will be querying this with the head office to see if this is in line with how they operate as well.
To summarise, be very very careful dealing with Hunters Ilkley and Otley, and be prepared for some nasty surprises and to lose money

I cannot recommend highly enough the team at Hunters in Otley - especially Debbie who dealt with the sale of my house. Due to circumstances out of their control my chain broke down twice and they were able to find a buyer for the third time of asking at very short notice so that I could secure the property I was looking for. Hunters went above and beyond what I would have expected from an estate agents to ensure all parties were kept up to date through the legal process and completion was as smooth as possible. Hunters Otley handled the sale of my flat (which they took over from Dacre Son & Hartley who weren't making much headway), and were conspicuously good at keeping me informed (why are so many professionals so bad at this?) with sensible advice and professionalism. I've dealt, as both buyer and seller, with a number of estate agents over the years, and they're a very mixed bag: using Hunters has been the best experience I've had, despite some hiccups and delays caused by the buyer's incompetent "lawyers". I could strongly recommend Hunters Otley as a seller (and I'd be surprised if my buyer felt differently!).

We had a great experience with Hunters from beginning to end.
In our initial conversation with Andy, he was open, honest and realistic about the valuation, whilst respecting what we needed from the sale. Crucially, he was able to demonstrate how Hunters had recently sold similar properties and, without being pushy or overtly selling to us, why he was confident that Hunters could sell our home at the price we wanted.
Andy also told us that he had potential buyers who had missed out on similar properties and would be keen to view. We agreed (even before going on the market) to get the potential buyers round for a viewing and quickly negotiated a fee with Andy if the viewing led to a sale, but without us being tied in to using Hunters if we went on the market.
Andy’s confidence was well founded as the potential buyers put in an offer and a few days of negotiation later they were our buyers.
Debbie, who took over the negotiations, is an absolute star. She seamlessly handled the negotiations, always keeping us up to date with progress and quickly getting us to a resolution.
We also dealt with Debbie on a couple of viewings and a potential purchase, where she supported us throughout the best and final offers process. In fact we built up such a trust in Debbie that when we found a house we wanted to offer on (with another agent) our first port of call to get a trusted opinion was Debbie.
I’d wholeheartedly recommend the Hunters team for selling your home.

We had been looking for a property in the area for a while and as such, had cause to deal with numerous agents. Hunters were by far the best we have dealt with, taking a no-nonsense proactive approach. We found them to be open and frank, rather than trying to play games with prospective buyers. They were kind enough to accompany us on numerous viewings and even once everything was with the solicitors they met us at the house to measure up and show the property to our parents. The property we were purchasing was empty as the sellers were away and I noticed the lovely lady who accompanied us, Julie, moving the wilted flowers and collecting the post up for the owners - the little things really do make a big difference! We will be recommending them to our family & friends and have no doubt when we do come to sell they will be the agent of choice (although not for a while yet!)

We changed to Hunters after limited success with an online agent - an excellent decision, as it turned out. They were professional yet friendly from start to finish and we felt they really took on board what we felt where the selling points of the house. I was very impressed with Hunters when I met Andy. He was bang on with the pricing of the property and the professional photography showed the property at its best. They provided regular feedback and even though the sale fell through a couple of times, they persevered and got us our sale in time for my brother to complete on the purchase of his new house.
