Having previously had experience dealing with various estate agents when renting as well as buying homes I have never had a particularly good experience, so I was skeptical when reading good reviews of Mackenzie Smith. I have to say though that I was pleasantly surprised by the experience of both buying and selling with Mackenzies. Everyone we dealt with was down to earth, easy to work with and honest. We never felt like we were being misled, and always felt like they were working with us for a good outcome. We were extremely happy with our experience using Mackenzies - we dealt with Nick and Darren primarily, both of whom were polite and professional. If we were ever in the situation again where we needed an estate agent then Mackenzies would be top of the list for us by a mile.... Read more

Darren was an excellent agent and better than I hoped for. Our chain was a tough one with many challenges, difficult people and poor behaviour. Darren rose to the occasion. His manner instilled confidence in all those around him and kept others calm in stressfull situations. Assertive, respectful, professional with a good sense of fun, Darren has the skills to pull people together and get things done. The other estate agents in the process looked hopeless in comparison to Darren's experience, skills and behaviours. Buying/selling a property is such a stressful time, but I felt very lucky to have Darren on my side. He supported us brilliantly throughout the whole process; if it wasn't for him, on multiple occasions, I think this process would have gone on longer or worse, fall through. Mckenzie Smith and Darren have been nothing short of absolutely superb. The service is excellent they really go out of their way to make sure things go smoothly and go above and beyond. Nick handled our purchase and was always available either on the phone or email, never taking longer than a few hours to respond. He was so supportive in helping us deal with our solicitor, he was honest and up front about everything and even got involved in helping us rectify issues with the sale of our flat, something that he as not responsible for. Nick was fantastic all the way through our sale & purchase. I would highly recommend his services & will seek to use him in future if/when we next move. He followed-up with all parties (all solicitors, buyers, sellers etc.) in the chain diligently & in good time to ensure the sale/purchase progressed quickly. I was always informed quickly of any updates & Nick was always on hand to offer thoughtful & considered advice when any decisions where needed. The majority of estate agents I spoke to pass your sale to different departments throughout the move, so you're never dealing with one person throughout (e.g. the person actually selling your property/doing viewings is someone you will not meet/vet before agreeing to use that estate agent). Mackenzie Smith on the other hand assigns you one person who deals with your sale/purchase cradle to grave. This really sets them apart from others. For me it was important to have a salesperson I could trust, and I was comfortable with Mackenzie Smith because the salesperson was the same person who valued the property and managed the sale from start to finish. We spoke to a few estate agents when deciding to put our property on the market and chose Mackenzie Smith, Ash Vale as gut instinct told us they were the right choice. Our initial meeting (and most of our dealings) were with Darren, although we were also very happy with any interaction we had with Jason and Nick as well. We felt that Darren was realistic and honest with us, rather than saying what we might want to hear to get us on board. Reviews on the way forward came at the right time and we were happy with the advice given. However, where they really came in to their own was when we were approaching exchange of contracts. We were unfortunate in that, whilst only two houses in the chain, there were a string of complications and hold ups with our buyers' house which really prolonged the process. Our buyers had sold through an online agents who, having got their fees up front, were really no use in trying to get us all in a position to exchange and I believe proved almost impossible for anyone to get hold of. Therefore Darren proved invaluable and was the driving force in chasing things up and liaising with everyone he was able to, to keep things moving along, effectively doing the job of both our agent and our buyers' agent. I won't pretend that the experience hasn't proved extremely stressful at times, but I don't want to imagine how much worse it might have been were it not for having a voice of reason at the end of the phone, chasing up the right people when necessary. I am also pretty certain after this experience that we will never choose to use an online agent, having realised that there is so much more to the whole process than just getting a sale agreed!
