My family recently viewed a property advertised for rent by Northwood Basingstoke. The viewing was excellent. The agent was professional and friendly.
We didn't have to wait for long or chase the agent for feedback. The next day our application was accepted.
All the referencing were done online and the agent was very supportive.
Everything went smoothly and moving in was within plan.
The agent also helped with tranfer of sone services reducing the stress of moving.
The handover of keys was smooth.We also received follow up calls to ensure we settled in well.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you are the tenant. They are scamming people out of their deposits!! Photos provided for proof!! I was in a property for less than a year, had two extensive home inspections in that time where they came and checked every inch of the house and took pictures throughout and both times found nothing wrong with the property, before the year was out I then received a letter stating that my rent would increase by nearly £100 a month which is extortionate being less than a year in the property at that time. I then decided to put my notice in, I gave the full notice period which would start the following week. I then received emails stating they had booked back to back viewings for the next few days, I had to contact them and explain my notice period hadn’t even officially started and it was the full notice period which would be more than enough time to schedule viewings as doing so more than a month in advance is an extremely unnecessary invasion of my privacy. They were not happy but moved the long list of viewings by only one week. I allowed full access to the house for potential tenants to come and view the property and made sure it was in amazing condition. When leaving the property it was scrubbed top to bottom. They then did a final inspection which was to decide if I could have my full deposit back… shocker, they found all sorts of magical new issues that had never come up before and decided to take nearly £1000 from my deposit!! One of the issues was that they said there was a green wheelie bin missing (it was on the street somewhere as the bin men had emptied it that morning) how the person didn’t think to look at the bins all together on the street and see it was right there is beyond me, this is the level of competency I’d expect from a child. Another issue was the co2 monitor that is their job to provide for the tenant was faulty and they decided to charge us £45 to replace it. It’s not even anything to do with us, it’s their job to provide that and it being faulty is a reflection on their poor quality of service which we somehow got charged for. They came up with any reason under the sun to keep our deposit. Stay well clear of them!! If you already rent from them then don’t bother leaving it in good condition when you go as they’ll charge you regardless. Photos provided for the good condition that the property was left in.

For the first time as a tennant i feel like an agent cares about us. Responses to a couple of plumbing and boiler issues have resulted in a plumber on the doorstep within a couple of hours and these weren’t emergencies either. Every email answered within minutes if not hours. Every minor query answered or resolved. This is in our experience as tennants very unique. I cannot recommend their services highly enough. From the lady that showed us around the property to all on the maintenance team, fast, efficient, friendly and professional service. Very satisfied tennants.

I'm so glad that after months of viewings with disinterested unhelpful letting agents, I've been lucky enough to be offered a tenancy in a well kept lovely flat with Northwood, Basingstoke. Our initial 1 year with Northwood was fine with good communication from staff and all, until Jardian entered into the picture. Every periodic inspection was an exhaustive process, raising issues most of which were existing before we moved in to the property. We had to spend hours finding old pictures and explaining them all.1 month after one of those inspections, we were told that they will visit us to check something the handyman fixed recently for which we agreed to be home to receive them. On the day, when we were busy with our work, we suddenly realized someone broke into our flat, only to see her casually walking in the property after she opened it with her set of keys. She then proceeded to inspect the entire property again and sent us another list of random issues. Not even a lame explanation or whatsoever when we asked why she had to inspect for the second time in a month without even informing us and use her keys without even knocking on the door even after we said we will be home to receive her. It's like they can say/do whatever they want to.
One can only imagine how the end of tenancy process will be. We were charged for random things with ridiculous rude replies when we tried to negotiate. Thanks to Mydeposits scheme, we received over 60% of our claim. We are spending our time for one last time in writing this review and would see what the management had to say about all this? Wouldn't be surprised if they said any of it didn't happen.
Edit: You are disappointed because we shared our experience? Every single thing we mentioned was on records and there is lot more that's not included here, you should probably check your emails again to see the kind of relationship you maintained with us instead of acting like nothing happened. And probably train your valued employees to not personally harass tenants so you don't have to call their experience as personal attack and can value their opinions too.

It is honestly one of the worst Estate Agents I've ever had the mis-pleasure to encounter.
No communication between the staff running the tours, and the staff taking the calls. Supposedly a bridge between you and the landlord, but in reality more of an obstacle and a hinderance.

I am informed well in advance of any property inspections and routine maintenance enabling me to make arrangements to be home or for my dogs to be out.

After living in a property for over a year, I noticed the property had a damp issue. I spoke with Northwood who arranged a cleaner to clean the mold. This did not resolve the problem and a friend and I spent months regularly cleaning the mold. Eventually it was discovered that there was a leak in the roof and that roofers were required to fix the roof. Northwood asked me to clean the mold before the roofing survey arrived which suggested to me they were trying to hide the problem from the landlord. I then refused to let anyone enter the property until I had a third party inspect the mold problem of which I have every right to seek that third party assistance, then Northwood issued me a section 21 eviction notice rather than deal with the ongoing mold problem this property has. The mold was caused by a previous tenant wallpapering over the bathroom vent. I will be glad to never live in another Northwood property after this experience.

We originally approached Northwood Basingstoke with the intention of renting our house when we moved. I found Beth to be helpful informative and although clearly a good sales professional, not pushy at all.
We decided eventually to sell the property, and after meeting with a few locally, we saw the the standard big ties, big bravado, big claims and small... ideas! I contacted Beth not realising Northwoods did sales too, to explain our change of mind and Beth explained they could help.
The price was competitive, and although every estate agent locally told me that Northwood was the wrong choice, and only know how to rent, clearly Basingstoke estate agents are scared of the skills the ladies at Northwood have, because frankly they were fantastic. When Beth was away, Charlotte looked after us, and they obviously work well together as a team and actually communicate!
The short story...
- They arranged multiple viewings when they said they would and marketed at the price that other estate agents said we would not achieve.
- We achieved over the asking price and had multiple offers, None of which were for lower than the asking price.
- The stayed in touch with us and helped when we were trying to get updates from the buyer solicitors, and not once were we made to feel like a burden to them.
Estate Agents often have a bad rep for attitude and the way they work, often with good reason. Beth and Charlotte at Northwoods Basingstoke are leading the way people want an agent to act.

We both bought and sold our last house with Northwood and their excellent agent/assistant manager Beth.
Northwood are professional and accessible; their promotional material is slick without resorting to the nauseous property-worship that some agents resort too.
Beth in particular is an asset to her profession, always helpful and available. Whenever other parts of the chain started to drag their feet, Beth kept the momentum going and she was a sensible intermediary for when our buyers had a few unorthodox requests.
As for the sale, Beth managed to secure a significant margin above asking price that allowed us to also reach up in the market.
Overall, while moving is always going to stressful and money is always going to be a driving factor, Beth and co made it as bearable as possible.

They are only helpful when it looks good for them. I asked them to fix my broken door after I was burgled and they done nothing about it until I became completely homeless they then changed the locks and stuck an abandonment notice on my property.. as they were aware of homelessness I wasn't able to put my belongings anywhere. They gave me two weeks to find somewhere for my belongings to go. I've just recently moved into a new property and asked them to send my post (bank card and bank letters) they agreed so i sent them my new address.. howevere after I sent my address they then ignored me... Having no reply I pressumed they hadn't done anything about it and just ignored me again???? I emailed them today and I was told it's not promised to get my post (understandable) but instead of informing me about this before sending my post they sent it out anyway... And only spoke to me when I emailed them myself the SECOND time.. I didn't have a fire alarm fitted for almost 2 years after asking numerous of times about it in the property... having children its a leagal requirement (with or without kids it's a leagal requirement) I had windows that didn't open. And open socket with wires hanging out in my living room... The list goes on! Nothing was done about any of it since I was living there after numerous of emails were sent... We even said we would go through leagal advice and take action if it wasn't sorted and still got nowhere... Will never rent from them again. Definitely take advantage of the vulnerable that's for sure. Would not recommend to anyone.

I used to find it unfair that letting agents got a bad reputation. How swiftly things change. I'm sure Northwood are fantastic for landlords but I strongly recommend any prospective tenant's use serious caution when looking to rent through Northwood. In ten years of renting, never have I lived in such a poorly managed house with such ingrained issues. Of course, being the tenant's, these were our fault and thus we must pay... We have now been charged over 90% of our deposit so we will be disputing it

We've just bought a property and our experience with Northwood was extremely pleasant. Everyone there had a very friendly and professional attitude but one person stood up and we want to send our gratitude to Beth Allatt. I liked that I dealt with women... no offense to any man who works with Northwood, as I am sure you're just as lovely, but being a woman on my own, I just felt more comfortable. What’s so unique about this estate agent is their level of customer service is so good you feel more like a valued person looking for a home than just another customer. Every single need was met no matter how ridiculous. I wanted a big bath, I got it. My circumstances changed suddenly and they were there with a plan b and so many reassuring phone calls that at no point did I ever feel that I was never going find something. Honestly hats off to Beth and Abbie and the rest of the team at Northwood. Above and beyond is quite the understatement!

I used to find it unfair that letting agents got a bad reputation. How swiftly things change. I'm sure Northwood are fantastic for landlords but I strongly recommend any prospective tenant's use serious caution when looking to rent through Northwood. In seven years of renting, never have I lived in such a poorly managed house with such ingrained issues. Of course, being the tenant's, these were our fault and thus we must pay... UPDATE: After disputing the deposit repayment, we were awarded over 60% of the money originally withheld from us.

Blunt, unreliable and never call back, got called but i was driving (on Bluetooth) so asked to call back me back in 10 minutes, this unfortunately didnt happen. I called them in the evening only to be greated by an individual with what I can only describe as completely fedup and didnt really want to be taking my call, gave my details to get a call back but this again didnt happen. Having called them again the following day i was asked alot of quistions about income ect and at no point did they mention that the property we originally contacted them about was not available for a viewing until six weeks later because they are fully booked.. Obviously its pointless viewing it in six weeks time as it will be no longer available, why not tell me straight away at the beginning of the bloody call. My wife also got an email saying they had tried calling her yet there was no missed call, she gave them my number but still took them two days to call.
If you would like nothing more than having your time wasted, give them a call.
If you like to deal with people who just don't give a damm, give them a call.

I chose Northwood to sell my property in Basingstoke after meeting with several local agents. I received weekly updates on advert views, enquiries, viewing requests etc. When enquiries dropped, Northwood were quick to analyse similar local properties and suggest a more appropriate asking price. Despite a difficult market, I received an acceptable offer from the first couple to view my property and the sale went through relatively smoothly. Beth tenaciously and regularly chased up the solicitors on both sides to progress the sale to completion as soon as possible. I would have no hesitation in recommending Beth and the team at Northwood to anybody looking to sell a property locally.
