The right of access to the property does not imply in any case the violation of the privacy of those who have made their home in this property. I hope that the abuse committed by OCEAN and described in the below letter is just due to incompetence. Breaching the UK privacy protection regulation (copy of the letter sent today to OCEAN) With surprise and disappointment, I have just discovered that the images of what was my home within the flat at xxxxxxxxxxxxx – Bradley Stoke were made public without my prior authorization. On 19/02/2024 I authorized the carrying out of a photographic service of the flat for marketing purposes, but at no time did I authorize the photographs of my home to be made public “as is”, without the prior removal or blurring of information that are violating my private sphere - below is one of the images published without prior authorization. The management of OCEAN has published photographs of my home where portraits of my family and their activities are clearly visible. Furthermore, in the photos made public, posters and book titles that concern my private life, and my political/ideological orientation are visible. By making these images public OCEAN and its management, as material authors, violated my private sphere and the British regulations in matter of privacy protection. The publication of the images “as is” made my thoughts, my private life, my ideologies, and my politic orientation public, exposing me to potential discriminatory actions. As is documented in almost four years of tenancy, I have scrupulously and punctually fulfilled my duties as a tenant, keeping the apartment in perfect condition, paying punctually, and accepting rent increases, the last of which was applied knowing that the apartment would be sold soon. Lastly and only to avoid minor conflicts, I accepted charges for cleaning the apartment which are questionable both in substance [1] and in their application given the conditions in which I received the apartment. Now, I am sorry to have to note that OCEAN and its management have abused my good faith, my correctness and availability in an aspect as sensitive as my private sphere. If the arguments relating to the return of the deposit can be considered of risible importance and definitively solved as is. The fact here described is highly relevant and cannot be overlooked. For this reason, I have appointed a UK specialized legal service to file a complaint, emphasizing that although the complaint is against OCEAN, it must include the individuals representing OCEAN management as the material perpetrators of the infringement. Likewise, I recommended to mention that neither the current owner nor the new incoming owner have responsibility in this fact. To conclude, I asked to mention in the complaint that the reimbursement of the entire legal costs generated by this matter must be imposed on OCEAN and/or its management. This e-mail has the dual purpose of informing you for transparency of the actions undertaken, and that the actions undertaken are not for profit but exclusively to report the incident with the aim that corrective measures are adopted. My single intention is to ensure that what happened is not repeated with people whose capacity to plead could be weaker than mine. ============ [1] Note that the apartment I rented through OCEAN suffers from an abnormal level of dustiness. For this reason, to protect my health and to reduce cleaning activity I had to install HEPA filtration units (air purifiers) in every room. It was incredible, if you turned off the air purifiers, in two days a quantity of dust visible to the naked eye accumulated. Dust appears to flow from behind the plasterboard walls into the cracks between the wall and the baseboard. It is a light, purple, non-combustible dust. It is probably the mineral fiber used to line the original walls of the building which is becoming pulverized over time. Possibly it is asbestos.... Read more
