In my search for an estate agent to sell my house, I contacted Bagshaws, as they were local to me. Bridget arrived at my house with a number in mind before she even stepped through the door. Convinced that she already “knew” the house, she didn’t really listen to me explaining all the upgrades I’d made and didn’t take much notice of how different the house was to when I moved in. She convinced me that the house wouldn’t sell at the number I had in mind, because she knew that it had been on the market for some time when I bought it. She suggested that I market it at a number LOWER than what I bought it for (I bought it in 2018, post Brexit, snap election and a VERY different market). When I disagreed, she said I could start it £10k higher than my purchase price. Mind you, I’ve put more than £10k of work into the house.
I pretty much knew I wasn’t going to work with her because of her rude and condescending attitude, but at the end of the conversation she asked me who else was coming around to quote. She was extremely unprofessional when I told her the other companies I had coming out. She even lied about one company, telling me how bad it was and how she knew people who had bad experiences there. I found this the most unprofessional behaviour and knew I’d not be working with her.
Thankfully I went with my gut and went elsewhere, because I ended up £55k richer than I would have been.... Read more
